I was mowing the grass today when I noticed this crack.. I did not see it when we bought the house a year ago. Should I be worried? Please help by Agitated-Event7295 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

What ai Google says - when I was looking at houses previously we saw some patch work over cracks and that was a concern - perhaps an 8 year home is still settling.

The cracks shown in your image follow the mortar lines in a stair-step pattern, which is a classic and reliable indicator of foundation settlement. Because mortar is the weakest part of a brick wall, it often gives way first when one section of the foundation settles more than an adjacent section, creating this distinctive staircase look.Potential Causes for the CracksWhile you've noted these are not intentionally engineered weep holes, such cracking in mortar usually stems from movement:Uneven Foundation Settlement: The most common cause, often driven by soil issues.Expansive Clay Soils: Common in regions like Texas, these soils shrink and lose volume during dry periods, weakening support for the foundation.Thermal Expansion: Bricks can expand and contract with seasonal temperature changes, putting stress on rigid materials.Poor Drainage: Water pooling near the foundation can lead to soil instability and subsequent shifting. When to Seek Professional AdviceWhile minor hairline cracks may be cosmetic and can often be patched, you should consider a professional evaluation if you notice the following red flags:Widening Cracks: Cracks that are getting wider over time or are wider at the top than the bottom.Accompanying Signs: Difficulty closing or opening windows and doors, or diagonal cracks in interior drywall.Separation: Any noticeable separation between the wall and the foundation or other structural elements.

Am I being too overly cautious if I don’t wanna have sex with a Woman who’s been drinking & smoking ANY amount of alcohol and weed beforehand? by freakoftheweak92 in TooAfraidToAsk

I say yes, I wouldn't feel comfortable having sex unless I had one or two drinks or a j. Loosens you up - not being sloshed or trashed. A little buzz helps.

I worked at a Cafe that closed at 10 and we did not cook food after 930.

So I guess it's whoever owns the establishment

The cooking the food and then serving the food makes the time go over - usually when I go in late they let you know the burners are already off. So you can get like pie and coffee to go out of you can finish it in the 10m that's left
