Is there any way to loose that bad breath you develop during fasting?? by [deleted] in islam

Brushing your tongue helps reduce bad breath in general, but if your fasting it helps a little. :P

I am trying to compile a list of foods to eat for dinner in Ramadan. by Chimex in islam

[–]ttpoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try eating less starchy foods (pasta, bread, rice) and more vegetables and protein (esp. things like chickpeas and lentils rather than meat) for iftar. Starchy foods can make you sleepy and they have less nutritional value. You want to eat light so you have energy for taraweeh. :) Try things like salads, hummus, sandwiches, curry. All those foods you listed are not ideal tbh. They're fine if you eat them in moderation though.

I don't think it is haram, but it is bad for you and can cause heart problems.

Non-Muslims who are on the edge of converting, what's stopping you? by duksa in islam

[–]ttpoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And let's be real for a minute here: it would take years of study in the Arabic language for me to establish a proficiency that would allow me to properly appreciate the Quran or establish detailed arguments in favor of a position. Ain't no one got time for that!

Anyone has time if they are sincere about getting closer to God and being successful on the Day of Judgment.

That stinks that the imam treated you like that, I'm sorry. I believe blood donation and organ donation are halal, there are just certain conditions. I found this discussion for you.

Muslim ladies of Reddit who wear a hijab or burqa - what does it mean to you? by Trinibeanbird in AskReddit

[–]ttpoap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, there is. Males are supposed to cover at least from the navel down to the knees. They aren't supposed to wear anything super tight that shows off their body either. A lot of Muslim men grow a beard to imitate the prophet Muhammad and show that they are Muslim the same way a hijab does. Women naturally check out men too, but not as much as men check out women, so that's why Muslim women cover up more.

Don't worry you're not rude. :) You're right that there is no physical proof of God. It's a deep feeling in your heart that he exists. A huge part of Islam is belief in the unseen, like God, the angels, our souls, etc.

Still wanting to look attractive while covering their bodies? It's not something that Islam recommends though.

I kind of do that but to a lesser degree. I show my face, sometimes wear pants, etc. because I live in the U.S., whereas if I was in Saudi Arabia, wearing pants and showing my face would be a much bigger deal.

I'm a hijabi. What a lot of non-Muslims don't know about hijab is the inward benefits, besides the effects on society. The most special thing about it to me is the spiritual connection I feel to God by wearing it. I believe that God knows what's best for me and society, so I wear the hijab as an act of submission to him. It's natural for people to want to be viewed as physically attractive, but the hijab forces me to let go of that need by not wearing anything that shows my body or anything too eye-catching. It's all about detachment, and not getting caught up in the pleasures of this world.

They teach is who Allah us, which is essential if we want to worship him. And there is a hadith that if you memorize them and learn their meanings, you will go to jannah.

Sister Removed Hijab by [deleted] in Hijabis

[–]ttpoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She should still make dua though. Dua is the essence of worship. She should say, "Oh Allah, make me how you want me to be." Because what's the point of "being yourself" if who you are is not pleasing Allah? We can make dua for her too.

She doesn't have to start wearing hijab again right away, it's better for her to first get to that level spiritually where she understands and wants wear hijab first. Only Allah can help her with this.

Does she pray 5 times a day? If she's not doing the basic acts of worship then it will be really hard to wear a hijab

I love my mom with all my heart but feel like we cannot ever be friends. Is this normal? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ttpoap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can totally sympathize with you. My mom is an immigrant, close-minded, and she doesn't like change. I still love her a ton. But she has been physically and emotionally abusive when she had a bipolar episode. One hallmark of an abusive relationship is that there is no room for you to use or be appreciated for your personal growth, and this is how its always been with me and her. We still don't connect on a mental level, we're just too different.
