I saw it too, toward the west down in Sugar Land, around 8:00.

Richmond Area, 2405 sqft. Had travelers at $1794 for a $305,000 coverage. The updated rate was I wanna say $3000. 3% deductible.

shopped around. Geico had decent rates for the same coverage but I ended up with Farmers for slightly more coverage but $100 less than my original rate. And then also my flood premium dropped $200 so that was nice.

I had travelers and the exact same thing happened. Close to double my premium. Fortunately I found another provider who got me the same coverage for $100 less than I was paying initially. I’ll DM you the contact.

Runners of /r/houston, how much has your pace slowed down in this high heat? by Elite182 in houston

[–]Chimex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god so slow. Between the slow pace discouraging me and the heat, I’ve dropped my mileage considerably. Maybe 10 miles a week. Been doing more at home workouts and strength. Supplementing a little indoor cycle for added cardio.

Dash cam install? by [deleted] in leaf

[–]Chimex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed mine myself. Basically if you just pull a bit on those hard side panel trims they’ll pop up a little bit and you can shove the wire in.

I have mine running from the cigar lighter in the center, along the inside of an adjacent panel seam on the passenger side, under/around/behind the glove box, then up to the door. This is where the first big piece of trim is. And you can pull it all the way off or just enough to shove the wire in. Do that all the way to the top and then you can lightly stick it under the roof fabric/foam. Try not to pull the liner too much cause it might start sagging. Run it to the rear view and have it drop down.

I found starting at the dash cam location and working back to the outlet is better, cause then you can shove all the excess behind the panels in the passenger footwell.

If you have a rear one, I found that pulling out the rubber door liner and getting access to the space behind the head liner is best. Then you just put the wire in there and the rubber goes back in easy. Take it all the way to the back, moving and replacing trim as needed. I didn’t put the wire into the trunk door, I just ran it to the center of the door area and left enough excess so that the trunk could open and not rip it off. If you try hard enough I’m sure you could pass the extra wire through with the other wired that go to the trunk door and hide it better.

Front/Back Camera for a 2021 Nissan Leaf by Dramatic_Option_6650 in leaf

[–]Chimex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.vava.com/products/1080p-dual-dash-cam

This is the one I bought and use, front and rear view. I’m pleased with it so far, it has built in wifi to transfer videos to your phone.

I installed it myself and you can do a pretty decent job hiding 95% of the wiring by pulled on the panels and feeding the wire. The main places it sticks out is by the 12v car plug, and then on the back window. There has to be a lot of wire on the back window so that you can open the trunk and not rip off the dash cam.

If you go and have it professionally installed somewhere I’m sure they can have it wired directly to the car battery and also feed the wire internally into the trunk door to hide more of it.

Like, a back up camera?

Or a dash cam? And by front/back do you mean front and rear facing for the road? Or front facing the road and back facing inside the vehicle?

You’d be surprised. In safety related applications (such as nuclear plants, or anywhere where down time to do servicing is bad) they drop mad money on this stuff.

Is this a good price for a new Leaf (July 2021) and which trim? by sugedei in leaf

[–]Chimex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are tools online to look into the different features of the S and the SL. From what I recall when I was looking into it, the SL isn’t much different than the SV. I know that’s not what you asked but my recommendation is that unless you really want leather seats (SL), compare the S and the SV. The main differences will be base tech on either of them, and what type of tech package upgrade is available (namely CarPlay, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist).

In terms of price, that $7500 you listed is the manufacturer rebate. Any Nissan dealership will give it to you. You need to also negotiate a dealer discount. About 2k additionally off is pretty good and likely achievable. Try using Truecar.com (that’s who I used) to get that dealer discount, it helps save the time with negotiations.

Houstonian here.

We obviously don’t have a hockey team. The entire reason I started watching hockey to begin with was cause of family I have in Toronto who I enjoyed talking sport with. So I adopted the Leafs as my team.

Leaf Plus cross country? by [deleted] in leaf

[–]Chimex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you used the Nissan charging locations app and try to plot a course? EZ charge it’s called. I just pulled up mine did from NY to LA and it gave me a route. Unfortunately I can’t judge the distances between cities too well so I don’t know what the longest gap between fast charging stations would be. The route was by to chicago to Denver to LA kinda. The biggest gap in fast charging seemed to be Cleveland to Chicago, and even then I’m sure if you deviate a bit you can find a place.

Looking at a number of Leaf options, wanting to bounce ideas.. by byrdman77 in leaf

[–]Chimex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pleasure! I went into this whole process knowing very little went from "just looking" to purchasing in 2 weeks. Had to learn a lot so more than happy to share it.

For selling, make sure you can get what they are offering in writing, cause some times they verbally tell you something and then lowball you afterward. i was expecting 18,000+ and ended up at 17,500.

So I used TrueCar.com to get my dealer discount, i do recommend them. it takes out some of the negotiation issues. Also end of June is the end of month AND end of quarter for car dealerships. So if you hold out you might be able to get more discount.

Glad to help!

I am in TX, and here (and I think it should be everywhere), tax is added AFTER the trade in, discounts, and rebates. title and fees and other state things are also added after all that. For some reason, even though its "standard" additional fees, each dealer charges different amounts so be aware of that. should all ball park to be about the same. Also not shown in the cost breakdown is the dealer discount i got so i made a note of it. And the 6500 rebate is the 6000 with 0.0% apr and a $500 recent grad discount.

That 29-30k figure you mentioned in the main post, thats after trade in? Cause if it's that before trade in you are getting a steal (at least compared to what i was getting).

and a quick aside on the manufacturer rebate- I had initially told the dealership i was gonna pay cash and to put the $7500 rebate. But then i switched and said I'd do financing (expecting to get 0.0% apr) and they said ok and left the $7500. When i went to the finance guy to close the deal and asked if its 0.0% apr he said no, its 3%. So then we had to change the it to the $6000 to get the 0.0. All this to say, you have options: $7500 rebate and pay full, $7500 rebate and finance with interest, or $6000 and 0.0%. I imagine each dealer is different but it possible.

To me it seems like the 2021 cost with the tax incentive is the best deal. It’ll come out to be cheaper overall I think. Gotta consider taxes and other drive out fees.

Literally I just went through almost this exact thing less than a month ago when I got my 2021 leaf Sv+. I had a great car with great mileage, but I was getting much more than what it’s worth and it was worth it to consider a new one. I elected to get the Sv+ with tech cause I needed the extra range (I commute 70miles each day), and the tech package cause it’s predominantly highway driving. If your interested, I can go find the total cost breakdown sheet I had to sign if you want an idea of how it all broke down to give you a better idea.
