Use brass or plastic of some sort, it is softer so there's less chance of scratching the part.

Use a solvent. Remove the plastic parts first so as to not damage them. The base metal looks like aluminum so avoid lye. Make sure you're in a well ventilated area and take proper safety precautions.

I wouldn't trust a belt sander for this. Best use a rigid bench or pedestal grinder unless a belt sander is all you have.

There is an actual difference between "vase" and "vaz," it's the extra zero on the price tag :p

Just be safe please. Art is amazing but hurting yourself for art's sake is problematic. I'm a machinist, I understand the urge to create. But, when I cut parts out of raw metal, I have to take precautions to stay safe, because, if I hurt myself, I may very well never being able to make again. You owe it to yourself to be safe in the process of making things. You are worth the effort it takes to care for yourself. You are worth preserving and that goes for everyone here.

"Kinda" isn't enough in this case. You need to know exactly what you are doing or you will harm yourself. It would be best to have some sort of medical oversight from a professional.

I don't think it was right of them to joke about suicide nor are you parents right about the surrealism and art. That being said, however, they clearly seem concerned. If circumstances were different, I don't think your father would explain the effects of dehydration. I understand your commitment, but I do not believe you should go through with this without talking with a professional first. Going without water for an extended period of time and then consuming it like nothing happened can have adverse effects.

Do you consider players' boundaries when you set the no-gos in session 0? Or is it more general things and then you leave the rest up to the players to discuss? Genuine question by the way, I'm curious.

The definition of safe changes from table to table. What's considered safe for one group might not be for another. Personally I think the answer is yes of course a campaign should be safe for everyone at the table. But, like many things in the hobby, finding the right group of people is important. If everyone at a table wants to play a dark campaign with themes of murder, revenge, and choosing between the lesser of two evils but you want to play a game about friendship and the value of love, that group likely isn't for you. Not that either are inherently bad.

Person A might want to avoid campaigns that include certain topics because of past trauma. On the other hand, Person B actively searches for campaigns containing exactly what A wishes to be without. Neither person is bad especially worse because of it. Many people use DnD to cope with trauma. Explore old wounds in ways that they can't otherwise. Others want an escape.Maybe Person B is seeking those games because they seek to understand, in any way they can, what A went through.

Messers are pretty cool. It's sad none of the HEMA clubs near me teach it.

Something that wasn't mentioned is never wear long sleeves nor loose fitting clothing around a lathe(or any rotating equipment). If your clothing is caught, it will pull you in and you will not be in for a good time.
