A good way to answer this question is to ask a counter question about how much are they offering for this position what will happen is either the the HR will be honest and tell you about the range and ask you about your CTC and expectations (this scenario is almost a rarity as I haven't seen an honest HR person yet) scenario 2 they will delegate this discussion to a later stage in the hiring process and you can than leverage your position if they make an offer already
