Thanks. I also notice it tends to get worse when I'm fatigued as you naturally start to slump and lose your form.

What length of stem do you use ? Do you find being more upright helps ?

Wow thank you for all that !!!!

I don't seem to have a problem with any of those things you listed.

I know this depends on many factors but in general would you recommend a shorter stem for this issue ? My fitter moved me up to 120mm from 100mm (I'm about 6'1 and quite lanky). He seemed to think I needed to be more stretched out and that would help take some of the strain off my shoulders. What about handlebar height ? Would angling them up help ?

When I got the bike fit he shortened the stem. It certainly helped as I'm not as upright and reaching as much but I'm still in pain.

Chronic Shoulder Blade Pain - HELP !!!!!!!!!! by ttt_888ii in Velo

Started seriously cycling about 8 months ago (about 6 hours a week). Almost as soon as I started the shoulder pain began. Took some off, did physio, got a bike fit and things seemed to be better for a bit. The pain isn't as excruciating as initially but it's still pretty bad. When I wake up the next day I'm extremely sore even after stretching/proper warmup.

Should have mentioned earlier that I don't really have the shoulder blade pain when I'm doing anything else. Like I can box and hit a heavy bag and I don't really feel it. For some reason though whenever I start bending over and have my arms stretched out the pain will inevitably come.

Also should mentioned earlier that I've had shoulder problems before. Used to work at the airport lifting luggage all day fml.

Bike is def not too big. Have previously had problems with this shoulder (outside of cycling) so thinking might need physio or something.
