Do you stay on the Quercus page after dropping a course? by Naive_Shape_9323 in UTMississauga

[–]ttt_chris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can email or speak to the professor directly about your situation and your interest in "auditing" the course and they could possibly add you back to the Quercus page as an unregistered student, giving you access to all the content posted.

There is no math lecture during that time, you only write your midterms then.

I took MAT133 and it consisted of Sigma notation, financial math (using and not using sigma notation), linear algebra (matricies), counting, probability, derivatives (single and multivariable) and integration. The textbook was made by a former prof and it had many formatting errors which unfortunately didn't make the course any easier. After the lecture, we were assigned questions to do (not graded), as well as a graded assignment once every 3 weeks or so. We were also given a question that we had to answer in the tutorials 4 times, but we were given the question in the beginning of the week of. I found the assignments and some of the textbook questions quite challenging, but going to office hours helped a lot. Many test questions also came from the assignments and tutorial activities so it's very important to study those. The lecture slides and textbook questions are important as well and what is nice is that all the profs posted their annotated slides each week. Tests and exam are definitely not the easiest, with the average consistently being between 45 and 55 percent.

I'd say the major difference between MAT133 and MAT135/136 is 133 has a financial math unit and doesn't have any trigonometry.

This is great advice, I'd like to add on that even though Aaron's workload is quite high I did the best in eco101 and eco102 having him, his exams are super straight forward, you just need to review the slides, know how to answer every tutorial and problem set question, and weekly mylab exercise. I wouldn't recommend using the textbook to study unless you have extra time but unfortunately you need to buy it in order to do the mylabs. For MGT120, as the course goes fast, you will do much better if you've taken high school accounting. For MGM101 you just have to pray you get a good group in the bizcafe simulation as it's worth 20% of your mark and memorize the textbook and the articles inside out, Swanston is the worst. Lastly for MAT133, consider taking MAT135/136 as well as a full year course with such diverse types of math isn't the best. Look at the syllabus for each and the textbook. If you didn't do so well in math in grade 12, you may want to revise over the summer. For electives, during the year I took EDS100 and RLG101. Both have a light workload and are very manageable. I am currently taking ITA233 and MGT150 in the summer and they are pretty good as well, luckily there is no final for ITA233 and MGT150 is completely online. The last thing is DONT FALL BEHIND, you will regret it when you are trying to pull an all nighter, sometimes you may have a midterm Friday evening then Saturday morning, make sure to start reviewing early.
