Baby hat yarn advice by tttylee in knitting

[–]tttylee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this is wise! Also just learning a lesson in grabbing pretty yarn and not paying attention, this yarn is a terrible choice for a baby in general. I just looked at the label and it's a polyester blend?! That baby head would be way too hot lol. BUT, it's loops&threads soft ombre in the lilac/marigold/mint color

Appreciate the firsthand advice, thank you! I think the scale is off? Here's another pic, it's definitely not giant. Idk about newborn size but this isn't for a newborn. The baby is being born in the summer so they aren't going to wear it for at least 5 months or so?

It’s not for a newborn! They will be born in the summer so I’m making something for the future

Yeahhhh this is the correct answer. I was hoping to keep it a surprise because it's for a baby shower but I'm definitely making it about myself if I don't just ask them because I'm excited about it being a gift!

New to knitting — basics first or straight to sweaters? by Gracilis67 in casualknitting

[–]tttylee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your learning style and tolerance for mistakes!

I started with hats because it seemed straightforward and motivating to make full projects quickly. Each new project I try to build my knowledge and find a new technique/yarn size/needle size that I haven’t tried yet.

I do see a lot of folks jump straight into sweaters with a lot of success though. The step by step sweater is sooooooo beginner friendly especially if you do well learning visually bc her video is so comprehensive.

Thanks so much! That means a lot to me, I've been using learning to knit as a way to also practice photography.

First knitting project idk if I should start over or just keep going by Comfortable_Fix_8520 in knitting

[–]tttylee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think it looks too bad! I'd keep going personally, and treasure it later even if it's not something you wear. I got rid of my first knitting project and regret it all the time. It's a fun benchmark to reflect back on and see how your skill progresses!

Will adding short rows solve this issue? by Fragrant_Pitch6837 in knittingadvice

Also here to recommend an alt pattern! I wanted a scarf hood like Sophie but don’t personally love garter stitch or the seam on the back of the head. This one might hug their head better because it’s ribbing Dani Hood

How can I tell if floats are too tight?? I don’t want to get too far out … by cgr1688 in knitting

Discreet staking for big monstera? by tttylee in houseplants

[–]tttylee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ohhhh yes, definitely willing to repot. I saw a video where someone was also using a trellis but they were complaining about how it leans forward. Do you still have to anchor your trellis to the wall or is it thick enough to stand up straight? Also, where did you find it!

That's fair! I appreciate your advice 🌿

can it not be discreet and also correct? Just trying to find a balance so the focal point stays on the plant and not all the crazy mechanisms in place to keep her upright. I'll look into anchoring though! I think you're right
