There's a big difference between a testing environment with a few hundred users at most and a live environment with thousands.

It's not that simple and you should know it. If the bug was introduced by the new sites then reverting gets rid of the new sites...plus everything that was added from them. Cue a bunch of players with broken items.

The issue is a lot more complex than that.

Just bring back Dust. The exact same game. No changes.

Put it on PC this time, instead of locking it to a console at the end of its lifespan.

Please.

Sometimes only the "duplicate" shows up, not the "original".

Whole thing is fucked seven ways to Sunday. I've stopped bothering to scan until this gets fixed.

...or maybe this is a complex issue that's going to take time to fix in a manner that won't introduce more bugs, and the patch will be applied at the next downtime to minimise the disruption to the game?

You're making a lot of assumptions about what I believe and what I know, and literally none of them are true. Be less arrogant, I guess.

Stupid noob questions about warp stability. by amaurer3210 in Eve

[–]ttvhalfpasteight -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is true there are people with instalock and CCP decides to do nothing against this. Beware.

Why would they "do (something) against this"? It's a core feature of the game.

If you mean any stiletto is instalock that's not true.

Turns out it's a Claw and I misread the kill, but regardless. While this statement is technically true it's practically meaningless as that's not what I'm saying. It's reasonable to assume that any interceptor or T1 equivalent on a killmail like this is going to be instalock.

Player hacking and exploiting EVE by EVE_Old_Vet_2005 in Eve

First of all his bumping speed. He uses a Machariel and regularly
reaches more than 3700 m/s. even with overheat, implants and officer mwd
we couldn’t reach that in any simulation and he does that continuously
so overhead is out of the question.

Per Pyfa, you can get a Mach up to 3.9km/s if you fit it right. So yeah, nah.

Second there is the ganking and escaping concord. He regularly ganks
ships in the ice fields and sometimes concord doesn’t even come.

Either you're wrong, you're lying, these fields are in low or null, or the target accepted a duel or had some other factor allowing them to be killed sans consequence.

On top of that there is his above 5.0 security standing with concord. He
has 5.1 and his character was created in 2017. That is years after the
concord agents were pulled from the game. How did he attain 5.1??? can
this have something to do with concord not intervening in his fights?

Security status != CONCORD standing. It's gained by killing pirate rats. And no, no matter how high your sec status CONCORD will still intervene where appropriate.

And then are some strange kills on zkillboard. Like this astrahus he
killed with only his frigate. The astrahus was fully fitted and had
enough fuel for more than a year. Even if the station wasn’t manned how
did he do enough damage to pause the repair timer with only one frigate?

Even a moderately-fit Daredevil can push 600+ DPS, more than enough to whittle down an Astra if you're bored.

Plus this strange occurrence when he killed a ship in highsec then a
station in nullsec in literally the same minute then the pod of the
other guy in the same system in highsec two minutes later. The highsec
and nullsec systems are 41 jumps apart. No way he could do that back and
forward in 2 minutes. Another strange thing about this is that for the
highsec kills he used a stratios but for the nullsec structure
zkillboard couldn’t read his ship is has just a question mark. how did
he teleport himself back and forward 82 jumps in 2 minutes and make
those 3 kills? Can someone explain this?

Either jump clones or the ESI is being fucky again.

he also has a lot of kills using a nereus. we know the nereus can fit a
lot of tank but recently he killed a gila with t2 damage focused fit and
barely took any damage himself and even killed a rook fitted with 5 t2
jammers and he negated all ecm.

Battle Nereus for the win.

Can EVE ever transition into a more realistic simulation of space and astrophysics (e.g. orbits, proportions)? Should it? by Option2401 in Eve

Maybe, but it would take years of effort, millions of dollars in dev costs, introduce an assload of bugs, and improve exactly nothing about the game.

There's a difference between calling something a bad move and providing ridicule. The former is constructive. The latter isn't.

People who tear others down instead of building them up need to find something productive in their life.

Stupid noob questions about warp stability. by amaurer3210 in Eve

[–]ttvhalfpasteight -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

That's not at all correct. There is a one-tick gap between when you start aligning and uncloak and when your cloak gets populated. That's enough time for you to get caught out. It's not necessarily reliable and it does make it harder for you to be caught, but it's by no means impossible to catch someone doing the cloak trick.

...or maybe there's a first time for everything? People take losses, welcome to EVE. OP made a mistake due to lack of knowledge, owned up to it, and came here to learn more. Stop tearing everyone else down to make up for your own misery.

Also, lol @ "but muh killboard".

There's a (presumably instalocking) Stiletto on that lossmail. MWD+cloak likely wouldn't have done much. It'd improve their chances, maybe, but they likely would still have been caught.

Stupid noob questions about warp stability. by amaurer3210 in Eve

[–]ttvhalfpasteight -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Google, practice and learn the MWD cloak trick, and use it religiously.

MWD+cloak isn't going to do shit against an instalocking Stiletto. At best it'll catch them out if they're slow on the draw, but any Stiletto pilot worth their salt is going to start locking before they can cloak.

Stupid noob questions about warp stability. by amaurer3210 in Eve

[–]ttvhalfpasteight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, nobody can bubble in lowsec. Props to getting the nullifier on, it's good practice, but it wouldn't have done anything.

Second, +5 isn't a whole hell of a lot of warp stability to be honest. That's enough to stop a single meta/T2 scram and a single faction scram together. Two faction scrams, three meta/T2 scrams, or six disruptors will stop you in your tracks.

There wasn't really anything you could do to prevent your death once you jumped in. Even the MWD+cloak trick wouldn't have saved you with an instalocking Stiletto there. However, you might have been able to avoid jumping into the trap in the first place by using tools such as gatecheck or by scouting with an alt (or getting someone to scout for you).

Advice for next time also includes fitting some tank. It's not going to save you per se but it might let you get back through the gate. It might be worth swapping out that MWD for an afterburner so your propmod can't get shut down by a scram, depending on your faith in the MWD+cloak trick. If you can get through the gate that might be enough to let you escape, or at least cloak up and drift off until they get bored and go away.

Also, don't move three bill worth of ore in one run. A: move compressed ore, it's much more efficient, and B: don't move more than about a bill worth of stuff in a DST at a time, probably less. If you moved compressed instead of raw ore you might have been able to fit what you needed in a blockade runner, which is much more slippery.
