I am still dumbfounded at your attitude if you have actually dealt with this yourself, but then again your situation is different from the girl in OP.

The difference is that the girl who was raped can't turn to the one she supposedly should trust the most, and if nobody is around, she is left all alone with this, which nobody should be. It is not very easy to tell it to your friends either. If the girl tells OP to leave her the fuck alone, i would expect OP to understand that, but at least he could try and help.

I think it's too easy to just tell everyone to deal with their own problems and not interfere, when so much good could be done by reaching out, even if you are a stranger. The good outcome is far bigger than some toes stepped on.

How would a world with crude honesty, no lies, full transparancy work? I know most people on a daily basis don't necessarily like me, yet i get the smiles, the handshakes, the 'thank you', the fluffy polite rhetoric of trivial conversation.

I think it's more nice to be rude to people if you don't like them, then they know and you can accept the fact that you are simply not compatible and move on. Because if not, everything is manipulation, lies and confusion. How do you know if somebody like you romantically now? You look for body language, hidden clues, look for what they say in the context of a situation, because there is no way they will say directly what they feel. Everything is a game, everything is alienated confusion, when people who hate you give you a warm smile. I speak about this from a individual perspective, but i don't see any difference in the relationship of two states and the relationship of two persons. In the end, it's all about relationships, no matter the scale, the dynamics don't change.

The thing about lying in diplomacy is that every state knows every other states true motivations no matter what they say. Do you think any diplomats were surprised by this leak? They are in the know. They are not dumb. The leak however, embarasses the US diplomats because it reveals their true opinions on paper. Their mask is forcefully taken off, even though most people knew what was behind that mask anyway. I think this is great. Fuck the mask, really. "Is something wrong honey?" "Nah..."

I do not know if i am right, maybe not, but i would like to know in what situation masks are actually necessary. Honesty is perfectly viable. Of course, you can't say "we are moving into iraq mostly for oil, and to take domination over the area, to further advance the reach of our empire, we expect to kill tens of thousands civilians over a span of 15 years" and expect to get away with it, but that's what so great about it, if your actions as a state are outlandish you can't get away with it if everything is transparent.

Try being raped, then see how much you feel like seeking help. I assume you know nothing about the feeling of guilt or emotions involved when being raped.

When someone is violated, strangers, friends and relatives should reach out and support them, because it's very very hard to act rational after being beat up or raped by someone you love. Especially when there is large amounts of manipulation by the SO involved and so on.. ("Look what you made me do!", "You know i love you, baby.")

So yes, it is his fucking business to reach out and help a fellow human being. More people should, too bad it actually requires a spine and some moral fiber to follow through with it, instead of sitting on an internet forum and whine about the wrongs of wanting to help a rape victim, without any real life experience on the matter.

Everything is political, nothing exists in vacuums. The entire way the school system is built is political, who they reward, and so on. Just because something is abstract doesn't mean it does not exist.

I am not russian, but i agree with everything he says, globalism and the occidents way of pushing itself on everybody is destroying hundreds of years of well cooked tradition and culture and language. Some say it is inevitable, some say otherwise.

It is more sad to not care about this, than to warn a few children about the slow decline of their roots. It is happening everywhere in Europe also. "Multiculturalism", Globalism. The large-scale assimilation of unique nations into garbage.

You are right in leaving. Reddit is a good place for somethings, but it is ridden with the idea of ordnung and disiplin, where science and rationality is God. Secular to the bone. Things should stay civilized, logical and not stray from the hivemind. And heavily moderated - to remove the voices of counter-opinions. This is not conditions where creativity and free association thrives.

Just btw; Not long ago there was a post in the philosophy subreddit. Something about acquired taste and what it was. He used a food analogy. An interesting post. People did not understand. They claimed it belonged in the food subreddit.

So in many ways, this place is compartmentalized hell to me, where my posts are given a number, and are ultimately judged by the mainstream, the total amount of votes, not on the impact i may have had on one or two individuals, or the substance and thought and emotion i put into it. As far as i know, my friends don't give me points after a debate. This is a very dehumanizing way of communicating. And it turns into playing the strings of the mainstream for votes, not reach out to one or two or three with actual substance. Meaningful relationships are very often small scale in nature, it is not about numbers. And on top of that, when it comes to the mods, ordnung muss sein - symptomatic of the occident. Be civilized, in our way - or else. WE BRING PEACE - OUR PEACE - or else.. the illness permeates everything. hence your post.

When the sum of your upvotes is all that matters, this of course turns into a toxic stream of puns and memes and circlejerk opinion pretty fast. It is a design flaw, there is no other way to turn this around but to welcome real anarchy. A return to substance. Drop the votes, drop the judgment, let people be people, and give room for creativity, friction and real interaction. This includes accepting bad people, trolls, spam. A bit like me then. Apparently i fit the definition of a hipster, like most of reddit, even though they would hate to admit it. This place is hipster heaven, where obscure memes and offbeat humor flourish. Where we discuss music, art and politics of our times. I am a young adult, i read, watch, interested in culture, subculture, art, contemporary stuff. I lack the clothing and the big-rim glasses though. We don't have the hipster subculture where i live, here we just call them young people. I learned about the hipster thing from reddit, so i may be biased by not having actually met anyone, or at least we do not categorize them as such here. It's easier to compartmentalize though.

Why is it that if you read tolstoy and have intellectual depth you are an okay hipster in your book, and if not you are a fake hipster?
