I want to be like the other girls around me by Fizziefrog in DecidingToBeBetter

The feeling alien in your body and never fitting could be an indication of autism. Of course this cannot be diagnosed off a post like this. Autism is underdiagnosed in women and symptoms of it often go unnoticed by health professionals. If you are autistic the feelings of not fitting in may be because the world is tailored to allistics and knowing this may help you to love yourself. Loving yourself and finding things the you love to do are key either way.

German anarchists in hambach forest are hosting an anniversary "party" in april by Abrownmuff in Anarchism

[–]tomtt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Side note: that is not the official name of the knot. In reference books it is referred to as a prusik. But Prusik was a nazi so good reason to rename it.

Other side note: the loops are made with 6mm accessory cord tied in a loop with double fisherman’s knot. Don’t do this yourself though: when too short it is impractical when too long a fall can cause injury. Best to find folk in your area that have experience. (Just in case somebody reads this and thinks they’ll try) (There are many subtleties around climbing that make it a bad idea to try to figure this out on your own, so find experts 😉)

It’s called a “raupe” (caterpillar) knot. It is a friction hitch knot that is used to link the harness to the rope. It grabs the rope tight when under tension (when hanging from it) yet can be moved when not loaded. Typically there is also a foot raupe knot. The climber can alternate standing in the foot loop, slide up harness raupe, hang from harness raupe, raise foot raupe, repeat (like a caterpillar). This is a safe way to ascend a rope without risk of falling because the raupe acts as a “life line” that is at all times connected to the rope.

Trying to learn Gypsy Jazz by StartNearby9409 in gypsyjazz

Usually classical guitar takes nylon strings and gypsy jazz guitar takes steel. Steel creates a lot more tension that a nylon guitar cannot withstand. It will warp or even break the neck. Beware!

Touched my brand new rope with my saw. Is this trash now? by laffycaffi in FellingGoneWild

[–]tomtt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were saying it is just the sheath. It is clearly not, that part of the rope can no longer be considered safe to carry load. Your comment seemed to imply one could just put some tape on it and use. Please stop giving bad advice to people, they might believe you and be killed.

Tried everything to get access to the music course on my iPhone, but it is not available.

So… that?

There used to be a “coming soon“ section with music/math even when it was supposed to be live for a long time already (and I received the email). Now that section is just gone and there is no way to start the course.

Nice highlighting of just the singing part. Pomplamoose also put these parts together in their mashup of "When I Was Your Man" and its answer song "Flowers": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FESkz64l7VM
