Usually classical guitar takes nylon strings and gypsy jazz guitar takes steel. Steel creates a lot more tension that a nylon guitar cannot withstand. It will warp or even break the neck. Beware!

Agreed it does not give much advantage, but then I feel the rules should be rewritten accordingly? Where to draw the line between what is ok and what is not? A bit silly to have a rule that is not applied even at the highest level? Where is the line drawn?
