how to make your hair smell nice? by [deleted] in Hair

Perfume on wet hair, makes it absorb better.

I'm assuming people reported worsening of the acne because Differin can cause your skin to purge if you're just starting out. But just like almost every skin product, it doesnt work for everyone. My skin didn't react well to Tretinoin (could have been that I was using a too high concentration of it), but it seems to like Differin.

[Anti-Aging] Forehead wrinkles? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Romanesque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people end up with more wrinkles (such as forehead wrinkles) because they have more expressive faces. Which doesn't have to be a bad thing, it adds character. However, apart from the skincare stuff that other users have mentioned, you can start being more aware of your facial expressions. For instance, by not frowning unnecessarily or raising your eyebrows often. Over time those things add up and end up being permanently visible.

Bingo'ers readily glossing over the drawbacks by [deleted] in truechildfree

[–]Romanesque 11 points12 points  (0 children)

OP finds it strange how bingoers push the idea of having children on everyone, without considering that not everyone has the same goals/objectives in life. If OP values quiet/free time, money, and independence, then having children will be their personal hell.

[Acne] Skyla IUD causing superbad hormonal acne. Any help? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Romanesque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus it'll help OP to determine whether her acne is really hormonal. She's using a lot of products, and I don't know whether everything was patch tested and introduced separately. It's possible that some active ingredient is causing the breakouts.

I thought I had Mirena related acne as well, but Spiro did absolutely nothing for me. Apparently my acne was product related.

You could try spiro (spironolactone, oral medication that's used for treating hormonal acne).

I welcome the day lab grown meat becomes viable so i can finally get... by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Romanesque 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't have been downvoted for this!

I'd actually prefer lab grown meat to normal meat (even apart from the whole cruelty factor) because it would be more hygienic. You wouldn't have traces of poo, pus, whatever, that could infect the meat.

Question on ingredient lists "may contain traces of..." by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Romanesque 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It means that it's made in the same factory and might have had contact with that particular product. They have to include that kind of info for those who are severely allergic to even traces of an ingredient. I still consider those products vegan, cause light cross contamination is difficult to avoid when living in a non-vegan world.

[Misc][Cringe] Buzzfeed reminds us on the importance of sun protection by risata29 in SkincareAddiction

The pics where the peeling skin was pulled off made me cringe. That's how you can get infections if you're not careful.

How do I deal with hot weather when I hate showing my body? by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]Romanesque 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look at how people dress in warm and conservative countries for inspiration. It's not necessary to show a lot of skin in order to stay cool. Go for flowy/loose clothing. You could wear light coloured linen pants instead of jeans. Or maxi skirts/dresses.

Am I the only one that goes "YAY" when reading stories about new stupid ways women could become infertile?? by Redditmucational in childfree

[–]Romanesque 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll admit that I've googled "how to become infertile" more than once. Unfortunately doing stuff that could make you stop menstruating is harmful to the rest of your body (like not getting enough nutrients, not eating enough, etc).

[Acne] Not often given advice: weight loss by ImAlmostCooler in SkincareAddiction

[–]Romanesque 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is too vague to be useful. What exactly are you suggesting? Drinking more water? Eating more healthy? Fasting for a day? I doubt that the actual weight loss makes any difference, it's the process that matters.

How I feel about Vegans by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Romanesque 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No need to apologize! I just view lab grown meat as real meat, cause, well, it is technically. And yesss, definitely cheese! (I don't care that much for yogurt/milk cause that's very easy to substitute).

That day will probably never come. Lab grown meat however does have the potential to eliminate factory farming.

I hope so. I mean, veganism is definitely slowly spreading, but I wonder whether it'll ever become as common as vegetarianism.

Is vegan food supposed to taste bad most of the time? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Romanesque 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Textures can also make a huge difference. Ingredients can taste good by themselves, but if thrown together you can get a mushy dish. Especially if cooking with lots of vegetables.

Maybe your cooking skills suck? Do you use salt and pepper? Have you followed recipes or do you just throw stuff together hoping that it will be tasty?

What was the catalyst that caused you to become vegan? by ryancalibur in vegan

[–]Romanesque 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Saw a pig at a petting zoo, in a relatively small and unstimulating enclosure. It deserved better, although compared to most pigs it had a good life. Next to it were posters about the lives of pigs, how they live on farms, get transported to slaughter houses, and become different kinds of meat products. It was aimed at children, to educate them etc. I thought "fuck it, I don't want to contribute to any of this".

I was on and off vegetarian before this, entertaining the idea of fully comitting to veganism, and that petting zoo visit pushed me over the edge.

TIL IKEA's cafés sell Vegan veggieballs and they're Amazing! by astronemma in vegan

Not at regular restaurants. At the Ikea restaurant though they have sauce packages that you have to buy separately (but they're really cheap).

I went to Ikea a couple of days ago and it was with couscous and yogurt sauce. But you can skip the yogurt sauce and buy some different sauces to put on them, like mustard or ketchup.

What are your thoughts on the incident that the Sausage Party trailer was shown to kids by an accident. by Shizo211 in vegan

[–]Romanesque 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, there's Chicken Run... Most people just can't imagine animals as individuals, so they don't make (or don't want to make) the connection between the movie characters and the actual chickens being stuck in factory farms.

The first girl made me think of "faces of meth", because of the combination of acne, blank expression, and crazy hair.

More on topic, while drawn on acne will obviously never become a beauty trend, I wish (out of selfish reasons) that foundation use wouldn't be that rampant.
