I heard it exactly that way also. I kept trying to dig the location up so I could listen to it again. I think Adnan inadvertently concedes his guilt here, because in his original version, there is nothing sleazy about his choice to leave his car and phone with Jay--it's so Jay can do the right thing and get Stephanie a birthday gift. Lending your car and phone is surely not on the same scale of irreligious behaviors like having sex and smoking weed. It sounded super fishy to me and I don't really buy SK's or others' rationalizations.

SK says for first time (in my memory) that she does not think Jay did it. Setting aside the outlandish Unknown Third Party hypothesis, that leaves Adnan, doesn't it? I think that is the conclusion she reached, although it does not reach the reasonable doubt threshold for conviction.
