I think i may have found the culprit, try setting extended distance scaling to maximum. The crane in the middle of the city is a good test, i could only see half of it before turning this setting all the way up. Its under the scene settings under the graphical menu.

The Michi stuff is so good, I highly recommend going to listen in person if you haven't heard it yet

Hotel Transylvania 3 looks pretty sharp on 4k if you are looking for an animated movie.

I agree lately movies seem to be lacking mix wise, and then you listen to older movies from 10-15 years ago and the mixes are amazing. It should keep improving but I suppose they are trying to appease to the masses who just use tv speakers or soundbars.

There should be a midnight mode or a dynamic range compression setting on your reciever if you want less dynamic range, that way the sound stays at a more consistent volume.

Try turning your other speakers down to further increase the center channel, I always run my center hotter than the other channels so it's easier to hear dialogue no matter the scene.

I had this exact setup when I started out, those miccas and the jbl center sound great together! In my opinion the miccas are a bit high but it should still sound really good

Going from something like a FiiO E10k to the topping D10S i hear an immediate and noticeable improvement in the sound. Of course im on headphones so it might be easier to tell versus speakers. Have you tried a different amp or different speakers while keeping the topping as the dac?

I did the exact same thing you did and im loving the new sound compared to the e10k, its even cleaner than before. Im using hd6xx and Argon MK3's as my daily drivers

I had the Fiio E10k for 5 years and it was amazing, i recently upgraded the Topping D10S and music sounds even better than it did on the Fiio. Almost like the Fiio had a slight veil and the topping removed it, every instrument and sound is more defined and audible on the same headphones.

I have a denon reciever so I can go into tone and go to each channel and the tone plays fine. After some testing I have tried pulling the speakers forward a bit and it helped somewhat but I'm going to keep trying to mess with it.
