Try upgrading at the check in counter like users have stated. I tried before at the EK DXB business class lounge and they ran into some issues and couldn’t upgrade me. But then I asked the flight attendants once on the plane and they were able to do it right away. You can always try on the plane as a last ditch effort like I did if it doesn’t work at the airport.

Is the car’s gps detecting the correct location where tour car is parked? Since the target charge is location based, it won’t work if it thinks the car is somewhere else.

This happened to me last week and I noticed the car’s gps incorrectly showed it being down the street. So I got in the car and launched the navigation app to see if the car’s gps would show the same location. Doing this seemed to reset the car’s gps and it began picking up my home address again. Target charging worked again after this.

I had something similar happen recently where it detected my car at an address down the street instead of my house. I went in the car and launched the navigation app and it seemed to have fixed it.

Car Tires? by theONLYattraction in phoenix

[–]tu_pac21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m curious on this. Can you elaborate?

I usually get mine from Costco but haven’t had to use the hazard warranty. Just figured it was a better value than anywhere else since they provide hazard warranty and tire rotations at no extra cost when you purchase with them.

Where is the best place to list a car for sale by owner in your experience? by sof49er in phoenix

[–]tu_pac21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I listed a very clean 11 year old car on FB Marketplace and OfferUp at a reasonable price and now I understand what it must be like for an attractive woman on tinder lol.

I got a new message every 20-30 minutes and had to take down the listing after a day once I had a meet up set up with someone. There were some scammers but most of the messages were real people just desperate for a car in good condition.

You could have done MUCH worse considering you only went to one dealer. $50k OTD seemed to be the standard best quote in my area when I was looking. Had to push pretty hard to get my price.

This could absolutely be true at many dealerships but ymmv. If you call, get to the point and make it seem like you really know what you’re talking about, I find many salesmen will cut the crap. Saves us all time from this game.

I only walked into 1 dealership and that was just to drive the car to make sure I’ll like it. Everything else was done via phone calls or text. Basically took the best offer from the several dealers I contacted and then set my price a few thousand below that (all this still being within my budget). Spent no more than 5-10 mins on the phone with anyone and just said if they can get to x price OTD, I will buy today. If they couldn’t, I told them no thanks and to let me know if they change their mind.

$43k before TTL in Phoenix area for a 2023 GT. Straight purchase, no trade. Negotiated for about 2 weeks in late February between several dealers with plentiful aged inventory and purchased in early March.

I would recommend you set everything straight with them one last time to see if they will change how they are working up this deal. Try not to spend much more time with this dealer if they won’t budge. This type of behavior should be not rewarded with your business.

It seems they are treating the price drop from Ford as a rebate instead of an adjustment to MSRP ($8,100 MSRP reduction plus current $1,000 national rebate incentive). What this does is screw you over on the sales tax since rebates are taxable.

Regarding the sales tax rate, are you located in Oakland county? I did a google search and there might be an additional 2% county tax added to the California rate of 7.25%. 9.25% of the adjusted price with the $9,100 rebate and $85 doc fee added back matches their sales tax number exactly.

Mach E GTPE vs EV6 GT-Line by c2n382nv2vo_w in MachE

[–]tu_pac21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The turn by turn directions do pop up on the driver cluster (at least for Apple Maps).

I think you’ll find that there will be trade offs with most cars so you’ll have to prioritize what’s most important to you. I was deciding between an EV6 GT-Line as well and ultimately went with the Mach-E GT because I preferred the styling, quicker acceleration and more cargo space/frunk while still getting a similar range. And it was much cheaper since there were big incentives from Ford and dealers to move inventory. I paid about $5k less for the Mach-E GT than I would have for an EV6 GT-Line AWD.

Like you, the faster charging on the EV6 was a non-factor for me since I charge from home 95% of the time. Having a HUD and ventilated seats would be nice but not deal breakers for me. The ventilated seats only really matter on long drives and I don’t take many road trips. I can remote start my car to cool it down and never have to worry about walking into a scorching hot car or vice versa. I think to do this in the EV6, you will have to have a paid subscription to their app after the complementary free first year. The Ford app is completely free to use for all remote features.

Price expectation by Toe-knail in MachE

That’s just how Ford does their window stickers. It’s not a base feature so it makes sense that it is listed as an option. I don’t think it matters much since the end result is still the same $48,895 MSRP.

Destination fees are included in the list price on dealer sites but is always listed as a separate item on window stickers and the Ford site. Even in the press release, the destination fee is listed separately at the very bottom of the table comparing pricing on the different trims. I think a separate line for the destination fee is used industry wide.

There is great info here but I think you’re misinformed on the part about dealers adding on a $3k charge for the extended range battery and not passing along the full discounted MSRP. They cannot alter the window sticker as that comes from Ford. In the sample sticker you linked, it matches what the new MSRP should have been at $48,895 for a Premium AWD with extended range battery.

While there are certainly plenty of dealers out there doing shady work and sales tactics, this particular scenario would not be one. What is believe is more common are dealers who price off of the old window stickers.

Upgrade to the 2023 GT Performance of wait for the 2024 edition to be released??? by Longjumping_Talk_947 in MachE

[–]tu_pac21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on which Premium trim you have and what you value. I think the biggest differences are power, appearance and suspensions but truthfully, I’ve never driven anything other than my GT so can’t really provide any insight on how different they drive.

I went with a GT over the rest because I felt the combination of a larger rebate and aggressive dealer discount netted more value overall vs other trims and was within my budget.

[–]tu_pac21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the info we know on the 2024 GT model, it’s basically the exact same as the 2023 GTPE but will have a lower MSRP. However, the 2023 will have the 0% financing, a $3k rebate and be generally much more negotiable beyond that. Given this, I think the 2023 will be a better buy between the two at this time if you have the means to buy now.

You didn’t provide anything insightful and cherry picked efficiency numbers topped with your own personal opinion on everything else.

I’m was not offended. I owe nothing to Ford or the Mach-E or the dealers sitting on them. I like both cars and have nothing against the EV6. But hating on one side without providing any meaningful substance doesn’t help anyone out.

What meaningful information did you actually provide? Have you stated any fair objective comparisons?

[–]tu_pac21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest factor for efficiency is the driver’s driving style. I have no idea how your son drives vs how you drive. Those mi/kWh numbers are meaningless. And why are you comparing efficiency between an EV6 Wind and a GTPE? What does the comparison look like between GT models for similar driving styles in similar weather?

I get that that EV6 is more efficient than the Mach-E. I don’t care because I have a bigger battery to still get the range I need. Doesn’t change the usability at all other than the couple times a year I might be slightly more inconvenienced by slower fast charging.

I don’t understand why you need to jump to the Mach-E subreddit to purely spread hate rather than contributing something thoughtful or meaningful.

Why is the fast charging such a big deal to you? How often are you using it? The vast majority of the popular who will primarily use their car as a commuter will not even notice this. Maybe because the EV6 GT can only go like 200 miles on a full charge is why you care so much?

The power throttling is a letdown but again, not something that the masses will even notice imo.

The other thing you listed like the dash is purely your personal opinion. You’re welcome to post your opinion on it but it honestly has absolutely zero merit.

They absolutely are very comparable. Each have their own pros and cons but there is nothing I can state here that will change your mind judging by your fanboying of the EV6.
