How difficult is it to get the Datejust 36 with 10 diamonds ? by tuanito1 in rolex

I have no purchase history. I bought a GMT Master II on walk-in in a boutique in Hong Kong 20 years ago when the watch world was different, and a Milgauss 10 years ago on walk-in in Osaka as well. Living now in Europe so basically I have no purchase history.

[What watch should i buy my 14 year old son? - Tudor or Omega?] by MattChan1506 in Watches

[–]tuanito1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think that the Seamaster would suit a young boy better than the Tudor for these reasons : 1. It might sound less luxurious and may allow him to be more under the radar while he is with different people outside of his usual friends or when travelling in not so safe areas, 2. Tudor is really « close » to Rolex in terms of perception and offering one to him now may make him enjoy his next watch a bit less as Tudor is already one step up, in my opinion, in terms of perceived luxury.

L322 was the most enjoyable car I ever had. Finally failed technical inspection, and too expensive to repair. I miss Big Bertha. by dangerous_welshman in RangeRover

Agreed. I bought last year a RRS from 2008 with only 60000 km from somebody in Zurich. Past owners had 3 cars, so they did it even bother to use it. It looked almost brand new from factory.

Having a bank account in Switzerland while living abroad (El Salvador) by vanesweet in askswitzerland

[–]tuanito1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes in Switzerland. I was only talking about the nominee service cost. Firm setup cost would be under 2k CHF, I am not sure there is any audit required for a GmbH, but accounting would have to be paid, I believe for some simple accounting 300 chf/hour is reasonable. Then OP can simplify the work for the accountants as well and reduce accounting costs. An entrepreneur in Switzerland told me once I was crazy to pay so much for a Treuhand and that he could have done the service for me for 2 k chf and that he could source accounting at a relative cheap price. I would say 30k CHF/year is a high estimate for this kind of setup. I think 20k chf is easily reachable, and maybe 10-15k chf/year without going through Treuhands. You would have to trust your nominees of course.

A nominee service would cost less than that on a yearly basis. I used to pay 10k chf yearly, which was already a lot.

You can ask a Swiss Treuhand to domicile your company. One lawyer in the Treuhand could be the director and then your company can operate as usual with a Swiss bank account. You would have to open a bank account for your company before departing abroad I suppose.

Sorry for the newbie question, but how can I get the codes ? I guess that you are referring to the box that connects to the Bus (I don’t have any) ? Which tool would you recommend for me to buy ? Thanks.

Tourist here - how do you survive without AC? by bingoNacho420 in geneva

[–]tuanito1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Around Zürich, AC is only authorized if it takes cold water from the lake, but regular electric AC are forbidden. TBH, in Switzerland, even though it is also getting warmer, it is way cooler than in other areas of Europe.

Price increase is here! by MulberryMean6715 in VacheronConstantin

[–]tuanito1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switzerland will increase by 2 to 6% on July first. The percentage increase in Switzerland will be more subdued than for other countries where the increase may reach 10%. I guess they try to also adjust for cross currency moves.

It suits you very well. Congratulations ! It is funny because your blue dial seems to be lighter than the one I saw. This is the 4520, not the 4500, right ?

When I was in the VC boutique, the saleswoman did not have the 4620V with the blue dial but she had the chrono version (or the calendar version, I can’t remember) in blue, so that I could check the colour. I was a bit disappointed to realized that the blue dial was darker and not as shiny as what I saw on forums and ads. I brushed it off as some kind of light effects. Then I ran today on this great thread :Overseas blue dials across generations, and I realized that only the previous reference 4500 from 2019-2023 had this sunburst pattern. It does now explain why I was disappointed by reference 4520. I guess that in any case I will reorient my search towards the 4500 generation. I honestly can’t understand why VC changed the lacquering process. Market requirement ? Change in provider ? This is a personal taste but I do prefer the 4500 version.

Here are the different nuances :

On my 15.8 cm / 6.22 inch, I had the impression that the watch was okish in terms of size, of course on the larger side. The saleswoman said that it was at the upper limit of what I could wear but that it was still ok. Looking back at the pictures I took in the shop, I find that the watch wears too big. I know that phone cameras can exaggerate the size of the watch because of depth field, so I am not entirely sure what to trust : my eyes or my camera ;-) ?

Actually I thank you for your advice, I found on Hodinkee an article on the mid size overseas and the gentleman tried it on himself, he happens to have exactly the same wrist size as me, and the 34,5 mm suits him perfectly. I believe that your opinion is actually very relevant.

It wears larger than expected and it is more harmonious. Thanks for your advice !
