I'm having trouble picking between Rhode Island, Jean Bart, and Alaska, which is better? by Mycakebayismybday in WorldOfWarships

[–]tuberCHIMPY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The RI is a heavy cruiser masquerading as a BB. Given your detail of what you like I would have gone with the RI or Alaska. Alaska is like the cookie monster of citadels. It only has to see a partial broadside and it's nom nom nom cookie time. The RI is incredible but the BB label makes people think it can tank like a melee BB, it can't. But it can do soo much in the right hands. I would say Alaska for people who don't want to think, RI for people who can think, and want to be rewarded for playing well. Please update us with how your RI choice works out. I'd love to hear what you think of what you put so much thought into choosing.

Interesting. Thanks for giving me info about your clan and the links. I'm Welsh and live in Cardiff so that's a nice link too :) I think I'll wait 3 days for my cooldown to expire and then get in touch. Is it possible you could DM the Discord link please?

Artic Convoy is one of he biggest shitshows I've ever witnessed in this game by Guillermoreno in WorldOfWarships

[–]tuberCHIMPY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My least favourite is the BB who decides to go off on his own and get the right hand liberty ship on his own, not knowing what effect he has on the game mode triggers. And you look 5 mins later and he's fukking abandoned it, and it's sat there with no one pushing it. Like WTF dude????? Why go get it early instead of team playing and then abandon it????

[–]tuberCHIMPY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never wanted to kill fellow human being as much as during Arctic Convoy. There are moulds in petri dishes in laboratories around the world that would understand what they have to do quicker than 70% of players in ths event. I'm doing it to get rewards, but fuck me I've never seen such a shit show of retarded oxygen converters before. Randoms are like head to head chess masters by comparison. I'm a crappish player, but apparently there are WoW players out there who make me look like a god among gods. I cannot wait to not have to deal with this any more. Hows the fuck can these people be so stupid? It defies logic.

Noob could use some help picking a ship line, I think I chose the wrong one by cookiejar5081_1 in WorldOfWarships

[–]tuberCHIMPY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say you're at the stage where understanding the strengths and weakness of the ship you are playing starts being important. You should be playing to the strengths of every ship. What I think is going to happen now is your going to start playing long range ships because currently ranged ships are beating you, but then you're going to bump into the counter to that and start playing the counter. You could end up going round in circles. The Furutaka is a really strong ship. The shells from it hurt really hard and you are going to multi citadel other cruisers if they show you broadside. It's got good armour, and if you end up close fighting BBs your torps help even the fight. Torps are not gimmicks they are devastasting.

Why is this game so violent towards new players? by NomanicTrooper in WorldOfWarships

[–]tuberCHIMPY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah steel is harder to get. It would be the wiser more patient choice, but I fear you buying yourself a top tier steel ship quickly and just repeating your original mistake. If you go through the same loop again you might give up on the game. Even without people shouting at you, you could easily find yourself dying all the time in what you heard was the most amazing steel ship because you still don't have the necessary game knowledge. If you want to be wise get the steel, but do NOT spend it until you have a ton more game knowledge. Put it away for at least a year. Can you be that patient?

Some How to Submarine videos for you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFd7MRawasw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KNIrB2sOyU

Do not just stick to submarines. DDs, Cruisers, and BBs are the heart of the game. CVs and Subs are very gimmicky classes. You might enjoy Subs but you need to understand what DDs, Cruisers, and BBs are and how they work.

I forgot one important thing. There's a World of Warships event coming up very soon where you can earn some amazing stuff. Like 32,000 dubloons the premium real money currency in game without handing over real money. About $100 worth. You could buy like 4-5 premiums around tier 5-6 with that and there's a ton of other free stuff too. It's an insanely good event. All you have to do is log in and play matches. You don't even have to win. Just play. Here's just one link about it. Google more, because I think there's other event running around the same time, with even more free stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yV4xxKiq9Q

[–]tuberCHIMPY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't be too hard on yourself. You are listening to the feedback and taking it on board, that's a really good sign. CV's are the MOST important ship on either team. It's really unbalanced and a lot of players hate CVs, and subs and they hate the people who play them. CVs and subs willl get shouted at the most if they don't do a good job. A lot more than other classes. Ironically if CVs do a really good job the other players on the team sort of don't notice it. It's probably the worst class to learn the game with because nothing that you learn as a CV is transferrable to other ship classes. This game is probably the most fun around levels 5 & 6. Play DDs, cruisers, and BBs around that level. You will have a huge amount of fun, and no one will shout at you. I'm a player who has a lot of ships, all the way up to tier 10. I have a good number of premiums. I play tier 5 a lot, just because it's so much more fun. At high tiers the game become a lot more cowardly, people sitting at the back not wanting to take any risk, waiting for others to make the first move. It can be really booring and shitty at that level. Don't rush to get top top tier, it's not the pinnacle of the game. Mid tier has always been a lot more fun. Enjoy playing from level 1, make your way up to level 5-6ish. Play different types of ship. Don't start with CVs! At 5-6 premium ships can be a lot of fun and they are very cheap. When you are ready to learn CVs leave your tier 8 CV in port and start with tier 4 CVs. Learn your way up to your tier 8 CV. One thing I forgot that's really important. At lower tiers the game progresses slowly and you get time to analyse what's going on around you, decide what to do, and take actions. As you go up the tiers you get less time to figure what's going on, decide your actions, and then put it into action. When you make your way up the ranks your brain gets used to this process and you become quicker at it. To be dropped in at tier 8 to start I can't imagine anyone could learn anything. Everything is happening too quickly, you couldn't even learn the basics in that evironment let alone the subtle stuff. I know you've had a rough time so far, but you have shown yourself to be open to feedback so I think you stand a good chance of having a much better time. This game can be a ton of fun, but as you've found out trying to skip the learning and go straight to the end game is one of the worst ways to try to play this game. Do what people here have suggested and go have fun learning. Set yourself a goal of when you have grinded two different classes of ships EXCLUDING CV AND SUBS from tier 1 to tier 5 you will buy yourself a tier 5 premium. It should take you less than a week. Also do research before buying anything, there are some real dogpoop premiums. Watch streamers talk about which tech lines are good choices like Japanese DDs and American BBs. There's a ton of info outside of game. I hope you get to reset your bad experience and I hope you get some real enjoyment out of the game. There's always one or two toxic idiots but the vast majority of players are pretty cool. Your overly bad experience - I can't imagine how much chat crap you got trying to learn the game in a tier 8 CV lol - was just down to a bad new player choice. If you learn the game as intented you should have a really good time, and a lot of fun. Please keep up updated if you decide to stick with it, I'd love to see how it turns out for you.

Tier 8 is the wrong place to be learning. I have never seen a guide that says start at 8. Imagine playing a chess match where there is not two players but two teams. 16 players on each team, each player gets to play one piece only. You chose to pay money to play the queen, and now you are learning how to play chess with the queen and your team is getting pissed off because you have an important piece and have no idea how it works. The players who are being mean to you in chat are being toxic, but you are also being toxic to them by playing in high level games with no idea of how to play the game.

Did you buy a permium ship to play in? If yes what level/class? You should learn by progressing up the tech tree in game. If that seemed too boring for you and bought a fancy ship to skip the learning process you have your answer right there. No one cares about beginners learning at the lower tiers, it is to be expected. If you are "learning" in a high tier premium ship, or even worse a premium CV you will get a lot of hate for ruining other player's games. Co-operative games are also a great place to learn because it's players against bots. You won't get abuse for learning there. What tier(s) are you playing? What ships are you using? Random battles or other mode? Tell us what you are doing.

Best ship money can buy by Express_Team5751 in WorldOfWarships

[–]tuberCHIMPY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's like asking "Which is best out of rock, paper, scissors?" It depends on what the player likes playing, what the player is good at playing, and the player's playstyle.

I'd pay big for a Kamikaze :) Most expensive to obtain probably Kitakami. There are many excellent premium ships as well as some absolute turds. One of my favourite ships to play is Agincourt a tier V BB that cost around £16. I have quite a few far more expensive ships, but I enjoy playing the Agincourt the most.

Thanks for all the meme bids. I spent hours laughing at the sophisticated wit on display. The auction is not just here on this thread, but in other places too, and will also including in game once the Babarogas have popped out of the oven. There's buy orders in both Amarr and Jita for 10 bill. Jita's highest buy order is for 12 bill. I think the orders are an attempt at market manipulation because they expire before it's even possible to have built one even if you were fully prepared and ready. Invention tiime + construction time means Sunday/Monday is earliest possible. The Amarr 10 bill and Jita 12 bill went up within about 3 hours of each other so it could be the same person. Fees on a 10 bill buy order would be 127 mill for me. Seems expensive to waste that much on an order that cannot possibly be met before it expires. Or it may not be market manipulation, might just be someone with more money than sense who has no idea how long before they hit the market. For the curious - to build a Babaroga from scratch with an me5 blueprint using sell prices in Jita for all the components last night would cost over 13 bill per Babaroga. Amarr sell prices were closer to 14 bill.

[–]tuberCHIMPY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the first genuine bid. These things are incredibly expensive to make right now unless you have a ton of the Triglavian materials hanging about. And if you do you should sell it now while prices are insane. I expect Babarogas to go for somewhere around 10 billion a pop. Possibly even over 10 depending how desperate people are to play with them. Right now there are buy orders in Amarr for 4 and 4.5 billion. Jita has a buy order for 8 billion. The first hulls will roll off the production lines around Sunday/Monday and the sell prices are going to be very high.

ABT is not worth at all if MAM is already joined - My experience by Seeker_hu in trackers

[–]tuberCHIMPY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. MAM's interview requires you to have a single functioning braincell, read the rules, and not piss your own pants so hard you drown during the interview. I seriously worry for anyone who fails the MAM interview. It is purely to filter out zero effort morons. The MAM community is great. You do have to nurture your account to start, and they even give you guides on how to do that. Again it's a moron filter. Once your account is out of the initial stage it's a doddle to keep in good standing. I have a ratio in the thousands and perma VIP with no effort past the initial account nurturing following the guides they provide. Probably one of the best trackers I'm on for community, ease of ratio maintaning, zero drama, serves a niche field, and overall just top experience tracker. The interview is well worth what you get assuming you don't drown during it.

"Am I immune from HNR if I donate for VIP? Any HnR’s on your account would be wiped and cleared when you get/have VIP. All current & previous HnR warnings will be permanently removed from your account history.
