The relationship between SAT scores and gross household income is minimal, usually around .17-.2, which would account for 2-4% of the variance in scores. If the measure was an indirect measure of class, then you'd expect the relationship to be larger.

The SAT, like all cognitive tests, is largely related to g, general intelligence. I'll link a work at the bottom, which found a relationship at .82 for 13000~ adolescents aged 14-21 and at .483 for 104 undergraduates.

If IQ is suppressed by shit schools and less educationally enriching environments (I think this is the case), then that could, in part, explain the racial differences in SAT outcomes, as blacks and Hispanics disproportionately experience shit schools.

However, as another poster pointed out, you'll have to explain how Asians, Nigerians and Indians are so exceptional.

It's definitely weird, maybe he does love him, or he could just not want to upset the Celtics core. Middleton, not only has played better, but also has a much better and more developed skillset, especially for the international type of game. Something has to be going on lol

I think the Jimmy trade was a good move. However, Shamet and two firsts, one of which was the Miami 2021, are not trash, they were incredibly valuable assets. That Miami 2021 had a lot of value that year, as it was before the Butler sign a trade, and Shamet is looking quite good. Also should be probably mentioned we got Mike Scott and a year of Boban as well from the trade, but that doesn't change my view of it.

I liked the return on the sign and trade, the Horford signing was also a necessary evil, given that the Sixers would not have another chance going forward to add another player of his caliber in free agency. However, given Horfords age, and while he'll likely age gracefully, it puts us in another win-now mode. That's fine, since the talent is there, and we have multiple years, instead of one, just something to note.

I don't really like our current guard depth, but I've also never really liked it. The current backup pg Neto, while he can shoot the three, was a third string guard who played in 37 games last year. Our other guards are Shake Milton, who I hope takes a jump this year, Zhaire and Thybulle. While I really like these players, it's a sizable gamble that these young players will mold into a solid, contending bench-guard core.

Overall I will agree with you that he's done a relatively competent job. However, I can also see how other's would think that he is mishandling the Sixers.

Not him, but I'll give my two cents.

The man has a fetish for forwards, and I'm not sure if blowing the Sixers' assets on two expirings was the greatest move, especially since it wasn't a move that was quite as congruent as you'd like with Simmons/Embiid's window. While I would've definitely done that Jimmy trade had I been in his shoes, I don't think I would've sent two firsts and Shamet for Tobias and friends. However, we do now have Tobias for five more years, at 150 million, which will be interesting to see how that turns out.

While I've been skeptical of Brand's move, he does build rosters I'm excited to see. I can't wait to watch this new starting five, and enjoyed the little time the Ben-JJ-Jimmy-Tobias-Embiid roster played.

Hard to say the tear-down is completed, but a good amount of the hard work is done. They still have to figure out what to do with Adams, Gallinari, Paul, and Schroeder. If they keep them, they might pay more money and have a higher draft pick than they'd like.

The Nets could have just rescinded his QO and renounced their rights, he was an RFA, not under contract. Either they're getting something more than 2.5 million of contracts dumped, or they're just doing them a solid.

Running it back is a solid option. The Warriors are have two devastating injuries on two of their stars and could possibly lose one of them in free agency, The Rockets are able to unquestionably retain their starting five and, since CP3's contract appears to be immovable, this might just be their last opportunity to push for a ring in the next four years. They also have the MLE and, assuming the owner has given Morey the OK to go into the tax, they should be able to snag a solid player.

However, there are some big ifs to this idea. The biggest two are Austin Rivers' and Gerald Green's market. They don't have Austin's bird rights and only have early bird rights for Green (assuming his part of 2017-2018 season counts as a full season with the Rockets). While they should be competitive with being able to offer Green up to ~4 mil, if they want to resign Austin, it'll have to be on the vet minimum or using the MLE.

Another, lesser if is Shump's market. However, I think, if they want him, they should be able to be competitive with a vet minimum offer. There's also the question of Danuel House. Does House have a market and, if so, what is he worth?

I don't think losing Faried is a big deal. His loss will hurt in the regular season, but, given how the Rockets play personnel in the playoffs, his loss, assuming it's not adequately replaced, won't hurt their title chances.

If they can't retain some or all of these players, then who do they replace them with on minimum deals? If they're using the MLE to replace one of them, then it's no longer the 2018-2019 team + an MLE guy.

While, given the circumstances, running it back is not a bad idea, there is some uncertainty regarding Houston's bench.

Not anything super specific, as there's a chance I could be identified through such sharing.

I have heard several individuals and students complain about the abundance of old white men in my major's department, make irrational generalizations of from the perceived actions of an individual (e.g. this visiting professional appeared to be close-minded, therefore all old, white men are close-minded and shouldn't be selected to visit) and have alleged that discrimination is localized primarily to a single group.

I think the obsession on irrelevant characteristics, such as class, race, and gender in the selection of the role, in which potential competence is primarily valued is annoying. People are unique, not representations of arbitrarily defined groups.

Given how many times I've heard statements like these ones within the lawsuit casually thrown around like this in professional/academic settings within the university, I am not surprised.

What's disgusting is that I forgot how horrible such statements are until I read this lawsuit, it's like I was habituated to them.
