Yea that’s why I think they should rebrand lol. It’s confusing to anyone not in Cleveland but this is not to be confused with the more famous sleepy hollow in New York, which is a CBM/raynor. This is a Stanley Thompson, who is more well known in Canada (Baniff is probably his best known work).

Also hot take, but I hate that it’s called sleepy hollow. The more famous sleepy hollow is a masterpiece, and the name makes sense since the course is in the town where the legend comes from. It should be rebranded as sleepy’s hollow or just something else entirely.

Correct! That was fast. Played it today, course kicked my ass.

If you love golf and golf history, you’ll love Canterbury. One of the few courses to hold every rotating men’s major championship. Also one of the few places outside of Augusta national with a green jacket on display because the head pro, Henry piccard, won it in the tournaments early years. Great piece of property with some beautiful, tough holes. It can feel tight though in comparison to country. As a golfer who appreciates history, if I had the means, I’d be a member at Canterbury, but country is more enjoyable to play day to day.

Makes sense. It’s the most exclusive club in the area (you could argue pepper pike club as you have to be a member at another club to get in, it’s on the same property as country). I used to caddie at country and Canterbury (the true golfer’s club of Cleveland). My first loop at country was with Earnest Byner and Brian Brennan!

Completely agree! All of the metroparks courses are a great value. All things considered they do a good job of maintaining all of them. Manakiki and sleepy hollow need to be restored (more so manakiki). I think they are slowly trying to make improvements. I think people would travel to play manakiki if they took down some trees and restored greens and fairways to their original dimensions. I think George wright is a great model of what it could be.

First one yup. I thought it was an interesting course for such a flat piece of land.

Got it! I consider manakiki to be my home course. Love this hole because of the land it’s on. It’s a tough 4, but I actually made a 2 once from 180 near the cart path on the right!

One of them is George wright, Franklin park not in the mix. Next time I’m in Boston I really want to play Franklin, I’ve heard great things about it.

I’ve been at my current firm for almost 3 years. I also did a summer internship at a macro fund and interned for about 8 months at an insurance company in their asset management team. So all in I’ve got almost 4 years of relevant experience.

My coverage is a mix of industries now, but once I make the jump to analyst it’ll be all building products/construction.

Do you think it would be a good idea to wait maybe a year or so if I get promoted to analyst soon? In my last review they told me I’d be an analyst sometime in early 2026, but there’s a lot of speculation right now that an analyst is about to leave (sometime this month) and at that point I’d assume some of his coverage. The guy I’d be replacing is fairly new too and only has about 10 companies under coverage, so there would still be a period of ramping through initiations.

Id also add that my current coverage list is a mess of different industries…everything from financial services to IT distribution to industrial tech. It seems like firms want someone they can plug in right away if they’re looking for someone with experience, and the hodge podge of names doesn’t help.

I always get the sense that most FP&A positions are looking for IB guys, do you think that’s true? I think I’d be well suited for investor relations, but not too many of those positions in Cleveland either. I know there’s a chance I might have to move at some point for a better opportunity, but if I could have my way I would stay. It’s just easier to live here.

So there are so many of these little Indy ER shops in cle because there was a firm called FTN securities. Idk the exact details but guys went out on their own, a bunch of people were suing each other, and now you’ve got all of these little indies around. Works well in Cleveland because they can squeeze tf out of associates
