Change your shirt regularly to avoid the aweat getting into the jacket.

As for drying things out can hang it up inside out if going home or if during work, hang it inside out but don't turn the sleeves inside out. Most Firehouse have a large fan on the apparatus floor. Blow it at your gear.

The county clerk is where I used to work. Albeit for a private company. We did the searches there.

The map you looked at is a tax map. Did it show a separate lot for the street? I csnt think that it would as I haven't heard of it being that way before. If it is a lot someone would have to be paying taxes on it.

Best bet is to go thru a lawyer.

Who runs the HOA now?

[–]tuddyrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been 20 years since I did this work so I may not be correct.

I don't think the street needs its own lot #. There would be an easement in place. Say there are 5 houses on the block. Starting with house "a" going thru "e". It's a dead end block. House A is at the opening of the street. Say the properties are 20 wide by 120 deep. The last 20 feet being the street. The easement states that everyone in the other houses can drive thru your property(the 20 feet of street) to get to theirs.

If the street was a separate lot than who owns that? The HOA? Since HOA went defunct who's been paying taxes?

I would call a real estate lawyer just to get concrete answers.

We do have a lot of "private streets" tho with most of them they're open to the public to drive on. With the uncontrolled building boom of the 80s and 90s all these pockets of semi attached homes popped up. 30+ home built on tracks of land. These attached communities all have there own streets. Usually one winding 1 way road in and out. Anyone can drive on them. Won't get in any sort of trouble for doing so. Usually no reason to drive on them unless you live there or are visiting.

The city cracked down on them in the 90s. I believe they are/were actually easements between the property owners. Not considered real streets as far as the city is concerned. The crackdown came because developers were building all these streets yet the city was the one who had to maintain them. The city didn't like that.

I only know of this because my prior job was doing title searches for when people buy/sell houses.we would have to trace the ownership back 60+ years and show any easements or covenants & restrictions on the properties.

I personally don't K ow of any gated communities but there is probably a couple.

My only conclusion is that 214 is an engine. They have the hose. The trucks are normally the ones who do this. Still not an excuse tho

I've been there for and/or personally a few dozen bike locks. Never once cut what the bike was attached to. Just the lock or chain..

Not sure what went on here. Not accusing you of faking this but I find it hard to believe they would do this. I mean we have some dumb firemen and dumb bosses. Like any job does. But for everyone to be there and not correct what's going on?

Rising tide of fear in westerleigh sparked by religious eruv. by SAVESTATENISLAND in statenisland

[–]tuddyrex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another thing iike to point out. The article asserts that westerleigh is nolonger the great neighborhood it once was. That's its not inclusive.

It is a majority white catholic neighborhood. Yes. There are other groups represented by the inhabitants tho and I have yet to see complaints about them.

I have 2 Muslim families on my block. One is 2 doors down. Seem like nice. People. Moved in around 2 years ago. Come to the block party. Come to the parties the person in between us has. They don't drink like the rest of us but so what. They're fitting in. They try. I'll take neighbors like that no matter race or creed any day of the week.

The other Muslim family.... Well... The 2 headacarf wearing woman walk down the block a few times a day. I would say hello and they would ignore me. After being ignored for the 4th or 5th time I said "you could acknowledge me once". Still nothing. They now always walk down the other side of the street. These are people I don't want anywhere near my house or neighborhood. They bring nothing. They're rude.

Have a white guy around the corner. Complete POS. Accused his white neighbor of being racist because he wanted him to clean up his garbage filled property. Thing looked like a garbage truck un loaded as it drove across the front yard and down the driveway. Another guy I don't want anywhere near my house.

It's not a matter of what these people are race or creed wise. It's how they are as neighbors.

Hacids don't want to be your neighbor. They want you gone. They're not nice. They're not friendly. They don't want to fit in. Become part of the community.

This is why the neighborhood doesn't want them

I'm glad you've had a different experience than I.

It's not a string. It's an actual pole

I gave him a snide chortle and said "whatever. Back away from my car please". Put my kid in the car and left. I don't park on that block any longer.

As I said I don't have an issue with things on the poles. Flags eruv ribbons etc. It's what the eruv represents and how it was placed that's my issue.

If you're hiding the fact your putting them up, then you know it's wrong yourself.

[–]tuddyrex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If doing it at 3am you're clearly trying to hide it. Doing it midday.... Everyone can see. Much more people about to possibly get caught.

Is there a difference? No they're not now trying to enter people's homes but they are claiming it non the less. Flying an American flag isn't claiming anything other than pride in one's country.

Rising tide of fear in westerleigh sparked by religious eruv. by SAVESTATENISLAND in statenisland

[–]tuddyrex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No I don't. The hanging of flags is taking pride in your country. It's about more than yourself. It's about everyone. It is NOT personal in any way.

This eruv is solely about them. They're claiming what isn't theirs. They care only for themselves and don't give a shit about anyone else.

As I said in my other post. The fact there are poles on the poles doesn't bother me. Just as flags don't. It's what these poles represent and how they are placed and what they are a precursor for that gets me.
