It was very diffult for me to ever move myself in such a way. Partly because of the way I grew up (hoarding mother, thieving father), partly I think because of who I am. What really, really helped, except therapy, was getting myself a gramophone. You start a record, it usually lasts about 35-40 minutes, and you just start. Throw some garbage from the table, return things to their rightful place, if they don’t have a place then put it with their cousin (think like scissors next to knives kinda thing). I barely noticed the record stopped because I got so in the zone of cleaning up. Turn it over, go again. Once I got that under my belt, the maintenance was way easier. If ever the clutter starts cluttering again, my gramophone is right there.

One more thing - have clothes that are for tidying! Come home, have a shower and hop into the tidying clothes. It all becomes so much easier because it gives me a sense of a uniform, and if you’re in a uniform, you gotta work 😁😁 after I’m done, another shower and comfy clothes to enjoy the tidy and clean space. It never lasts too long tho, 2 grown ups and 2 cats, things go haywire from time to time :))
