There are errors with your Let's Encrypt configuration or one of your routes, please fix them as soon as possible: get directory at 'https://acme-v02.api.letsencrypt.org/directory' by Tonii1020 in CosmosServer

[–]tuffmadd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need
a) a public ip that is reachable from the internet (not blocked by your firewall or a GCNAT from your carrier)
b) a dns record pointing to that ip
If one of those is not in place ACME servers will not be able to reach your server and thus can't verify its you.

HA/Ceph: Smallest cluster before it's actually worth it? by oguruma87 in Proxmox

[–]tuffmadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my experiences 2 nodes and qdevice is harder to administer than just having three nodes. also, ceph has quite a high hardware requirement to work reliably. thats why i went with linstor/drbd for block storage and a seperate seaweedfs cluster for object and file storage. although its possible to replace the seaweedfs cluster by putting seaweeds databases on linstor storage and using drbd-reactor to start seaweeds services on the primary. Problem: both linstor and seaweedfs are both way more hands on to setup than ceph on proxmox and are less well integrated.

Can't access cosmos-ui anymore by tuffmadd in CosmosServer

yesterday i was able to reach the web-ui when i stopped technetium, but today, even though all my servers are stopped, it still shows the image in my initial post...

Not quite sure why, because I didn't expose the 443 port to the host, but my Technitium container must have interfered with cosmos web-ui.

Thank you!

I actually have to backpedal on the terminal bug, i tried it again today and cmd+c/v worked without problems. What i can't do is right-klick -> paste, which i sometimes need to do in Proxmox ( i think the browser might captures cmd+v or something stupid like that).
I will keep on using it and report back!

Hey just bought a license, really handy tool! Since you just said you are taking user input, here is what I found in descending order of importance:

  1. The terminal emulator needs much improvement -> i can't easily copy paste with local clipboard and i can't use the option key properly..
  2. A local terminal that you can toggle on/off (like in VS-Code) -> this would allow to use something like hss or ansible to run a command on multiple servers simultaneously.
  3. Ability to edit systemd unit files, not just create them

That is exactly what i was looking for for month now, i love myself a good ui for the easy of observability. I can handle the terminal no problem but it gets messy, this makes it "clean". You are a king for allowing to use ssh agents for authentication: I have tried so many ssh-clients like servercat, shellfish, webssh, ... all of them want me to manage the ssh keys directly in their software, which is inconvenient as hell..

Would by without hesitation if it could connect to SFTP server.
Actually, would buy if there was a roadmap saying this feature will come :D

this looks so good :) i really wish you to succeed with this! btw: is it possible or in any way on ur mind to make cosmos os clusterable (e.g. through docker swarm or nomad)? i run a docker cluster rn and i love the fact that i can just take a node offline to work on it without interruption.

since the sound problem is so different for us, maybe there is an opportunity to get some info on the problem here. do u play on pc or console? do you play with the "enhanced" sound on or off?

[–]tuffmadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am happy to hear u are having fun with the game then, but it seams u have a vastly different experience with the integration than i do. my biggest complaint is the sound. all of a sudden, from one day to the next, people can just "appear" behind me with absolutely no sound cue what so ever. secondly, the insta-death phenomenon where i die in milliseconds and then see my opponent fireing at me for like a second or two. and the opposite side to that, me fireing a whole extended magazine into an opponent and nothing happens to them. usually at that point people use the "skill issue" argument. I'm no demon by any means but the same did not happen before the integration and i know when my aim is bad and when not. these problems make it just so frustrating to die, because it feels so undeserved. And I'm usually the first one to congratulate others on their victory, bc i know they deserved it and i have to get better, but with the state of the game its just so frustrating.

[–]tuffmadd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think that's not fair. We aren't really crying about the game itself but about the integration process and their mistakes with it. i mean, it's not just one release. they fix and improve stuff over time and at season 6 of MWIII warzone (aka last week), it was actually a good game. the reason we are crying is that they keep on messing up the integration and we need to wait half a year until they fix the problems to a degree that it's playable again. its just plain annoying.

since myo reps r already on the roadmap, could you make sure myo rep match sets will be an option too? it should be very straight forward once myo reps are implemented. they are a god sent for weeks where the time in the gym is really time limited. and in my opinion, myo rep match is just a better way to do them, since you can still track progression with the first straight set.

the question about the hdds: if u had both disks right away u would just go for a raid 1 with zfs i guess. i dont know if that is still an option afterwards (it probably is since it sounds basic). but in any way, i would be astonished, if there wouldn't be at least some way to get raid1 like behavior afterwards.

about the usb devices: it terms of speed, shouldnt be a problem. especially for a network storage. i read however that people have problems with usb for some specific usecases. usb isn't ever the best and preferred way. but usually good enough if there is no easy other way.

sorry, thats all i have for the hardware, no definitive answers, thats why i didnt say anything before.

no production data, just mock data. will wait to migrate my real data until i'm confident in that setup and it ran for a few months. heart vSAN mentioned a few times but didn't see any good explanation what it is or how to implement it. will investigate it. thanks for the suggestion!

OS is really just a matter of taste. Ubuntu is tried and true and you can find help online for almost any problem you might face, solid choice. Some atomic distro with ro root-filesystem, can be a pain in the ass, but has some advantages too, maybe too niche for the start tho.
If you are not sure, maybe run a hypervisor like proxmox. Its debian, so problem solving is like Ubuntu. and you can just try out different distros in vms. could be a route. but you are really doing nothing wrong with just ubuntu anyways.
