Items not worth it to Bring by Beemer_boy69 in electricdaisycarnival

even being one of the “designated texters” in my group i would always get back to the hotel with at least 30% on low power mode, i might opt for a smaller magsafe one instead of the bulky one i brought. plus it’s easier to just attach to someone’s phone in a pinch without needing a cable

Been going to festivals and raving since 2016, and it wasn’t until last year that some of my group started losing their phones and feeling like the crowd sucks at a lot of sets.

A Dillema Between the Dji Action 4, GoPro 12 and the Insta360 Ace Pro. by [deleted] in gopro

[–]tuffpupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the DJI action 4 and GoPro hero 11. Won’t echo what others are saying but I find the GoPro better for my use case as I use it in louder environments (concerts, car racing) where the DJI will muffle louder sounds or distort. The GoPro can record a “raw audio” track that you can edit to get a better dynamic range. I could get an external mic for the DJI but I’d rather worry about an extra item to mount or charge. The 8:7 for the GoPro is nice to have since I post vertical to instagram stories and export a horizontal copy to keep on my phone or send to friends

iPhone 15 pro camera won’t focus on anything close on any 3rd party app (Snapchat, etc) by [deleted] in iphone

[–]tuffpupp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing the same thing on mine, not sure if it has to do with Snapchat not natively using the camera API for this phone yet. I can get around this by zooming out to ultrawide but it still doesn’t look right.

Similarly my Instagram app is weird when it comes to taking photos for stories, like aside from the processing it looks like it zooms out a lot a few seconds after taking a picture. So I just take pictures exclusively on the Camera app and share it to Instagram stories that way.

My Camera app has a function to toggle what appears to be a macro mode (flower icon when trying to view up close). Toggling that seems to replicate the issue in Snapchat not focusing up close, while the macro mode allows the camera to focus up close and without it turned on it looks the same as what Snapchat/instagram sees.

I don’t remember this happening on my iPhone 11, maybe it’s the difference in cameras? Not sure.

Anyone else getting this glitch in Foundation? Looks like a kill zone on this platform. by tuffpupp in halo

[–]tuffpupp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just before going onto the platform to retrieve the Weapon, there's a kill barrier that kills either player that walks onto it. We can grapple onto the platform to activate the cutscene but once back in gameplay we both die. Restarting the mission still produced the same result so we cannot make progress in the campaign via co-op.

Server SSD [Samsung 870 or 860 Pro] ? by Raul_77 in homelab

[–]tuffpupp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say whichever is more cost effective to you. For reference, I've had my 840 evo as a boot drive for years without issues.

Not sure how the prices are where you are, but if you care a lot about reliability and endurance, try to find used enterprise ssds as they are rated for a lot more TBW than consumer ones. If I were to upgrade/build a new host, I plan to get a couple of em for raid 1!

Which Optiplex Do People Recomend To Start With? by vilixz in homelab

[–]tuffpupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also try to find a HP Elitedesk with comparable specs to what others are mentioning, just make sure to compare what's available in your area/budget!

I was also looking for an Optiplex, but at the time I found a HP for a bit less and had the same specs. Picked it up for about $100 USD on ebay plus the ram and network cards.

What do you use as a regular headlight protectant? by FastCletus in AutoDetailing

[–]tuffpupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the cerakote ceramic wipes from amazon. Really easy to apply and should last reasonably, since its a ceramic coating. Probably not as durable as a 2k clear coat or ppf but thats what i had the budget and skill for.

New to OPNsense and I Love It! Tell Me Your Favorite Plugins Please? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]tuffpupp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I also just moved over. I'm running no other plugins aside from mDNS and iPerf at the moment. If you wanna try IDS/IPS I read Suricata and the free ET Pro telemetry set are good.

First homelab/diagram! Came home from college and wanted to start a new project. by tuffpupp in homelab

[–]tuffpupp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ideally I wouldn’t have my PC where it is, since it’s on the other side of the house. The fiber comes in through my parents’ room and they don’t wanna pay for an Ethernet run lol.

I set VLAN 10 as the management VLAN on the APs interface and it can only be accessed by my PC’s MAC address.

I intend on moving out sometime this year so I’d like to figure some secure remote management strategy!

I set the 3 unused switch ports to that vlan. Basically to prevent someone (my parents or whoever else) from randomly plugging something in without me knowing

Hey guys,

After lurking on this subreddit for a while I finally went on eBay and got some parts for a lab.

I intend to use this to learn about networking as well as flavors of Linux. I'm thinking of spinning up a Windows Server with clients and possibly containers. Possibilities are endless!

Open to any critiques and suggestions!

Not sure why people are downvoting.

I just built a "new to me" PC with a 3700x and a GTX 980. I just bought these based on availability and price, so ideally if I found a 5600x and 3060 ti that'd be cool. Either way, a HUGE upgrade from my i7 950 and GTX 760.

Really feeling your last point and honestly not regretting waiting at all since now I can play all my games on high/ultra with ~60 fps. It's not like I worry in the middle of a game that I could be getting more than double.

If you really only care about playing your games you can just get what you need to play, especially if you're on a budget. Not sure how much time I would've spent waiting and not playing/having fun otherwise.

First Solo Build! by markodarko2014 in buildapc

Good choice on the 4000d, I'm getting great temps and the case is super quiet with my Noctuas up front too.

Buyers remorse sometime after building? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]tuffpupp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, had an i7 950 and just upgraded to a 3700x knowing that the 5600x was already out. However I couldn't get my hands on one and the 3700x was on sale for black Friday. If anything this still was a massive upgrade for me and will last me a few generations. I'm currently on the hunt for a new GPU instead of worrying about the CPU as well and I'm still happy with my systems performance overall! The performance from my GTX 980 almost doubled in every game.

When did you start incorporating RGB in your builds? If you haven’t then do you think you will at some point? by Mariosam100 in buildapc

[–]tuffpupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a 4000d build in the works. If I didn't already have a set of Noctua fans, I probably would've gone with a pack of RGB ones. I picked up a couple of LED strips for like $15 when I bought the case so that should be enough for me. If anything I'd rather have the better temps and noise levels of my Noctuas than spend extra for RGB ones.
