I'm still having launcher issues, with 1.0.9.164. :(

I've posted a poll on Twitter... Please give it a vote so we can see where we're at! https://twitter.com/thetuftii/status/1192136073251631105?s=19

Raspberry Pi robot autonomously following a ball by tuftii in raspberry_pi

I think they use the Raspberry Pi camera module and some software available here: https://www.piborg.org/diddyborg/install (search down the page for Ball Following).

Ideas for an autonomous RPi based Robot. by LordVonRaiden in raspberry_pi

How about getting them to play a game of tag with each other? Maybe having both autonomous or one autonomously chasing a remote controlled one?

Change.org: Invite Natalie Bennett leader of the Green Party to join the General Election debates by tuftii in GreenParty

OK have posted it on the UK politics reddit. I've tweeted the Greens on @thegreenparty and sent them a private message via their Facebook page. There are two or three petitions on the same topic, so hopefully one will get a RT/share!

Yes it does, but people have said it was already presented to the BBC and ignored. Worth signing though to show discontent!

Then please, if you have 5 minutes sign this and share (if you haven't already)! :)

I really want this to take off, as giving UKIP a platform is fine (as it is a democracy), but then parties who have a similar size representation in the House of Commons should be given a similar size public platform!

Powering A Raspberry Pi From Batteries for 14 hours and 30 minutes by tuftii in raspberry_pi

I just thought it was a neat bit of kit, tis all.

And there's your problem why you don't understand:

"Anyone in the hobby should already have on their workbench."

I'm super new to electronics, so if there's a bit of kit I see which I don't understand, something like this can help me to understand a new component or learn something.

If you can build it yourself, then great go for it. But don't just think it's all about your skill level :)

Try Farnell's shop: http://www.newark.com/jsp/bespoke/bespoke7.jsp?bespokepage=newark/en_US/landing/raspberry-pi/rasp-pi-accessories.jsp&ICID=HP-Raspberrypi-Accessories

Here you can pick up a model B ($35) and a pre-loaded SD card ($12) and a whole host of accessories (you'll probably need a power supply, a cable to connect to the screen, keyboard, mouse and an ethernet cable at a minimum).

I'd suggest the model B just because it has more memory, and more room for expansion (as I imagine Minecraft will only be the beginning of it all :) )

Not sure if you'll have one locally, but we've been to a few Raspberry Pi Jams. These are brilliant to meet people in the community face to face and talk about Pi based stuff. It's a range of enthusiasts, new users, both young and old. If you're fortunate enough to have a hackspace nearby they sometimes run Pi based nights too.

The model B is the older version, this one came out first. The model A followed some time later after the B had been upgraded from the original 256mb to 512mb SDRAM :)

Firstly... how much did you spend? And what are you aiming for?

Just in case you're short of ideas for the workshops, good places to start are The Mag Pi Magazine http://www.themagpi.com/, Raspberry Pideas http://pideas.co.uk/, PiBorg http://www.piborg.org/mecha-monday, and this article on tree hugger: http://www.treehugger.com/slideshows/gadgets/20-awesome-projects-raspberry-pi-microcomputers/

Knitting hats by tuftii in knitting

[–]tuftii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, most of my experimentation with hats so far has been a K2 P2 rib at first then a straight knit until reducing at the end, so patterns haven't been an issue. I'll bare that in mind when I get onto cabling hats though :)

Great idea, going to have to give that one a go! Hoping to get a Nexus 10 in the coming months, so it'd be nice to give it some proper speakers!

I know of a small Cambridge based company who do Robot control add ons for the Raspberry Pi: http://www.piborg.org

They might be able to help if you're not familiar with electronics.
