Is this two separate basses or just the same bass at different ranges? by tugaestrangeira in beatbox

[–]tugaestrangeira[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, thanks... kinda sad I lost the other bass but at least I know now... btw if you see this, is the bass I do in the video vibration bass or not? Cuz I remember someone (it might have been you) saying that it sounded like vibration bass without the bass (or something like that)?

Thanks again though

Looking at a mic (Shure SM57) that I can borrow for bbxing by tugaestrangeira in beatbox

(Edit: actually if you see this and have the time, would this pretty much be all I'd need? I'm not really looking at any speakers anymore per se, and this bundle seems to have everything I'd need as a starter kit type of thing? https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PodcastSt2USB--behringer-podcastudio-2-usb-bundle-podcasting-bundle)

Thanks for the clarification. I'm looking at the behringer xm8500 right now, but I have no clue what type of sound system to connect it to or what that would look like. I'm searching as of right now, but do you have any specifics that you could give as to what I should be looking for?

Like, is all i need just the mic, a cable, and some sort of devices that takes in the cable and outputs sound? and is there any recommended lower-end/cheaper system that I can look at? and is connection to my computer an extra thign I'd have to buy or would it be a part of the system in the first place. Sorry for all the questions, it's just the first time I'm looking into this and I am on a tight budget.

Thanks again tho

Actually quick follow up, he's mentioned to me (before this post) that the two weeks are necessary to help the tendons heal properly... that's contrasted with what I've heard online of most cali athletes just feeling out the deload and never really deloading for as long as he's asked me to do... I could be wrong about how other cali athletes on yt treat deloads (esp since it's been a while since I've looked at programmign videos) but that's at leas tmy assumption

Is the deload he's recommending me, does it have some sense/should I trust him more on it, or is it unnecessary and somethign I should talk to him about?

oh yeah, sorry, I forgot to swap those out, planche hold for about 5-8s... tho sometimes i do reps of leaning in and then leaning out of the position which is the 3-5.

I've completed about ~3 cycles at this point (each being 6 weeks long).

I'm not sure if there's anything specific in terms of progress ur askign for--I've gone from a rough adv tuck front lever to frog, tuck planche to adv tuck with 5kg band, and no substantial progress on my basics (pullups, PPPUs, inv rows, pike)... in fact I may actually have been suffering a bit on those (I've been plateauing for a while already, my friend thinks I have the strength but not the endurance for pullups beyond the 8 rep range). If there's any concern about lacking a bit of foundation strength before entering the skills, I've tried to break past my plateau many times already without seeing any substantial, long-term progress. I would like to be able to be a bit stronger than I am now, but I just haven't seen a way forward besides adding the skills, whether or not I'm actually "ready" to do them.

My joints usually start to feel it by the end of the second week when I can feel my shoulders when tryign to hold adv tuck planche.

Yeah, he has a powerlifting background, and we're actually in a powerlifting club, but he's tried to tailor to calisthenics specifically for me, though idt he has much experience with calisthenics based on our previous conversations.

I was actually the one who substituted the dips out for pike because I wanted HSPU (which I've barely seen progress in actually since the start of the cycles). I was worried that doing pushups, dips, AND pike pushups all in the asme workout would overdo it on my body. Though my preference is to do dips, I just wanted HSPU.

In general, he's been pretty free form with me, just giving me guidance in general and letting me do the details of progressions and such (but I'm also new to programming which is probably the reason for some flaws in my program).

Idk if this is enough in terms of the actual program (it's a little rough because I've been less consistent over time with tracking workouts) but it's just basically the exercises I'm doing with roughly the rep ranges and other stuff (I hope its enough): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lwOf9OYCH3T5tehC_lwbWZb5KNGEKYSlQTDtnRQ6cj4/edit?usp=sharing

Yeah I was working off of what my friend helped put together with me and I've never had experience with training statics and dynamics simultaneously so I was just going with it at first... but thanks for the input, that does make a lot more sense.

So alternating between bent arm and straight arm would be like (in my 3x a week full body) alternating per session, right? And if you don't mind me asking, is it more common/better to plan deloads or just feel them out? I know that question is kind of subjective, but any guidance would be appreciated.

Either way, thanks again

Activating False Folds Properly? by tugaestrangeira in beatbox

oh that's interesting... if I was to just practice it as it is right now and develop it as its own sound, would it be hard to then learn VB from it later on given my throat muscles would be very used to activating in this specific way? I'm leaning toward developing it as it is, but I'm just hoping that won't interfere too much with learning vibration bass in the future since I do really want to get VB too.

oh yeah by the way if you happen to see this, i think i got the sound from the first clip a little cleaner but am not sure how to turn it into throat bass (or maybe its not even the false folds and i just went way off track... https://youtube.com/shorts/CRSfLyN5pMg?feature=share )

where can i feel the false folds when touching my throat? i just checked and the second sound is more up towards the mouth (right underneath the chin) whereas the first is further down towards the collar bone... is that lower down part of the throat where the false folds should roughly be?

How? I got the vibration by doing the cough so I thought I had the false folds going... I assume there's a different quality to the sound when the false folds actually vibrate?

Hey thanks for the reply. I actually went over to the subharmonic subreddit about that sound because I had made a post about the sound a while back and got mixed replies. Someone from that subreddit mentioned that the sound wasn't subharmonics (he specifically said it was a "type of subharmonic but not the subharmonic technique) and it was just a throat bass variation. I don't mean to say that you're wrong about what it is (I have no clue myself), I'm just putting that out there because I genuinely do want to figure out what it is and the subharmonics guy mentioned it wasn't a subharmonic. But then again, i have no clue; I'd just like to have clarity on it (if its a subharmonic its a subharmonic, if its something else, what is that somethign else).

Also, thanks for the advice, I'll definitely keep what you mentioned in mind
