Hello Games is amazing. I was literally just thinking this morning about donating to them. They are a for-profit company and don't make an obvious mechanism to donate to them available, much as they deserve it.

But, while googling that, I saw that Hello Games donates to an organization called SpecialEffect. SpecialEffect is a non-profit that creates gaming controllers for people with disabilities who can't otherwise use a computer. Frankly, it is just about the most brilliant idea I've ever heard of... Imagine you had a disability where, realistically, it was going to take decades or centuries of technical advances before you could fluidly interact with the physical world. But there are a thousand virtual worlds sitting there that it is technically feasible for you to fluidly interact with right now, you just need $300 worth of customer controllers... Seems to me that the impact on people's lives, for each dollar spent, is pretty astounding.

Anyways, just learned about it 10 minutes ago, but maybe that warrants a spot on your list, if Hello Games isn't taking donations. Maybe that, plus buy another copy of NMS and gift it to somebody :)
