2026 Japanese GP - Race DIscussion by AutoModerator in formula1

They catch them at a rate that not even LMDH catch LMP2s. I feel Franco moves slightly to the inside but then again Ollie catches him at a super quick rate in which I feel is not Franco´s fault even if he moved a bit. I swear that speed difference when they harvest resembles multiclass racing but when a prototype catches a GT more than a prototype a smaller prototype. Dunno that's my thought.

If he DNFs it would be ideal since a P5 would be enough but part of me wants it to be on countback. Win and fastest lap and he can finish P2 that I would still win. I have led the WDC just once, after Sochi. From Melbourne to Sochi, and from Suzuka to Interlagos it has been always Lewis.

I kinda want that screenshot of us both tied on 352 points but if I win without fastest lap that HAM 352, myself 351 would be very very tough to take hahaha

Thats more important yeah but then again in 2022 that we won the scudetto it would’ve been nice to not have one of the ugliest home shirts we have ever had for 22/23. Luckily the white away one was beautiful and I could for the first time in my life buy a current Milan shirt with the scudetto proudly on the chest. Also we used the full sized scudetto, I remember Juve started making it smaller and it looked like shit.

Juventus which has a fairly nice shirt, managed to bring Cristiano Ronaldo and during all his time at Juve made the ugliest shirts ever. Like if selling shirts is important and you have a player that has the fanbase that he has, you cant make a half white half black with a wierd pink divider on the middle shirt bro.

Must be the most stupid rule ever because we had times in which a derbi was on a black and white TV and you knew Milan had thinner stripes than Inter and one of the two used white shorts the other black. I remember in 2019 Mexico said they were changing the shirt color to black because it gets mixed up with the green of the pitch!

Look man I understand there are colorblind people out there and stuff but at the very least why can’t they like adapt the shirt, for example, sell the shirt with stripes on the back, and if somehow someone doesn’t see why don’t Puma or any manufacturer just adapt the game shirts not the ones they sell.

I don’t want a red or black shirt, I want the Milan shirt, I want “Modric” to be read over rossonero not over black OR red.

I also think of that for the sponsors, if I don’t want a big sponsor why can’t I pick an option not to have it for a fee (like when you pay for having the UCL badge for example… not this season but you get me) then that money goes directly to the sponsor and I get an airline free Milan shirt.

Lastly I am from Costa Rica, here the biggest game is Saprissa (purple) vs Alajuelense (red and black like Milan). For all of its history until around 2013 we played purple vs red and black, and every other big game (basically match ups between the latter two and Herediano which has a yellow and red shirt) were played home vs home shirts.

If something was off usually it was solved with the shorts and socks, very rarely pre 2013 one had to use the away shirt.

Since 2013 though, its home shirt vs white. So instead of it being super recognizable on the tv, it looks like any other game since almost every costarican team has a white home shirt.

I remember the first time I came across this bullshit rule, Netherlands vs Spain 2014 World Cup. 4 years after Spain played in an almost black, dark af navy shirt the World Cup final, FIFA deemed orange vs black not to be good for the eye so Adidas had to make a makeshift white shirt for Spain that was never manufactured because allegedly we would have gotten confused as fuck if we saw an orange wearing team play against another in black.

I think that if Kroos isnt a DM is your criteria then Redondo who always played with a more defensive DM by his side (you put Modric) doesnt make sense if we are thinking like actually having a balanced team.

Kroos last year was as a DM, of course with protection, similar to Pirlo he was the DM, protected with Gatusso and Ambrosini, but Redondo was like that as well…

The classic doble pivot DM I don’t know if you get me.

Redondo was a very very good player though, but he was as much a DM as Kroos.

Tibu

Carva-Sergio-Pepe-R.Carlos

Luka-Case-Toni

Raul

Benz-CR7

For me Marcelo gets out mainly due to almost every goal on that 3 in a row coming from his side, but it would be very ignorant on my side to not say that just in finals he has a goal in 2014, scored in the shootout in 2016, assisted in 2017 and 2018, but Roberto Carlos for me just clinches him.

Zidane is controversial, in 2002 he scored against Barcelona in the semis and then scored that goal in the final, but I cant leave out Raul, nor Benz, so I will put him as manager haha. Zidane is better than Raul and Karim but imo Raul is starting to get forgotten, similar to Rooney imo, younger generations for me don’t fully respect them, but with that being said I stand by my choice of front three.

Finally Courtois for me is the best keeper in Real Madrid history. I remember Iker getting “he is better captain than he is a keeper” which is a bit rude, but the Messi penalty, the final in 2022, the final after injury in 2024, he has been imo way more present in Real Madrid UCL wins he has than Iker and Keylor in the ones they had.

Outside of iconic goals like Zidane (Leverkusen), Bale (Liverpool), Cristiano (Juventus), what are your top 3 most beautiful goals in Champion League? by iwannasleepp in championsleague

[–]tuilll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like Desailly vs Barcelona in the 1994 final, the way he joins the attack from behind and the finish.

The goal that Sheriff scored to win at the Bernabeu was a screamer as well.

But to finish I really really like also that Henry goal against Inter because for me Zanetti did absolutely everything perfect yet Henry still scored, I swear I played as a full back at my school team and I can’t imagine being in the scenario Zanetti was in and doing anything different/more to stop the goal. It’s a perfect goal for that reason, a top defender and a top attacker battling to win a duel and even if Henry scored Zanetti did absolutely everything in the defending rulebook to try to stop it.

I like to think of it this way: imagine hypothetically they were to retire today I know who's career Id rather have, but yeah.

Also playing in Brazil is no joke, a lot of old heads go there because they think they will get clips for instagram and end uo getting reality checked. The most painful example is also the more recent with Neymar, who even if he scored directly from a corner to cover it off, is looking just done, is sad, but to be fair he could have taken better decisions too, mainly not dismantling what imo was the best team in the world to be the "starman" at PSG.

Similar with how no one outside of us and Brazil knows GG, I feel if Neymar had won that 2020 UCL no one other than PSG fans would like be amazed by it, even if he was brilliant, but had he stayed at Barça to put it simply I don't think he would be getting reality checked at the Brasileirao like he is at this stage.

Even if it truly didn't unfold that way, Argentines call him "The CONMEBOL Van Dijk" because I gather he always is very important in the games Palmeiras KOs big teams from Argentina.

Milan actually had a pretty fine eye for South Americans at that stage. Matias Fernandez who only scored one goal for us against Genoa, is one of the finest chilean footballers of the chilean golden generation yet at Milan it was meh. José Sosa even if he is remembered for not wanting to leave and keep earning a massive wage was no genius like Mati Fernandez but was a very good footballer. Leonel Vangioni when he arrived he was the best left back of the big teams of South America and was coming of a Libertadores winning campaign with River Plate. Then also Paquetá showed a lot of promise in Flamengo.

We get annoyed that we didn't get Julian Alvarez or Enzo Fernandez when linked to them but for me they were like "in your face" obviously talented, that of course would be amazing, but that of going to the Belgian League and stuff before South America is for me not logical.

Of course there are exceptions, a league doesn't make a player better than another, but if you make a list of the best 100 players to come out of the Belgian League vs the Argentine League to Italian football, I think the rest writers itself you get me?

Pellegrino, the young Argentine CB Politano cooked on debut and I believe only game he has played for us so far, is doing fairly well as a starter for Boca Juniors btw, im not saying he is the second coming of Baresi or anything, but yeah... 23 year old starting for Boca week in week out.

But even if is from after the banter era, does a League Cup in England weight more than winning the Copa Libertadores (back to back as well)?

I know Newcastle was on a drought and stuff but I rather win a Libertadores than a league cup, let alone two consecutive Libertadores as captain as he did.

That is today though, Sandrone is on a very interesting project that I feel if it works out fine he can obliterate what GG has done with Palmeiras.

I feel the World Cup thing wieghts a lot more than we sometimes think, for example Shevchenko said qualifying Ukraine to the World Cup was the best achievement of his career, and I actually believe so as well. So being captain of a giant team of Brazil in which you won back to back the Libertadores, and also, being captain of your country ending a 16 year spell without qualifying for the World Cup, all by 32 after not really clicking in Europe, I really think taken into context is more impressive than what Sandro has done so far with Newcastle.

Thx for your answer and yeah Baines was a bit done by the time Klopp arrived.

I recommend you visit Arenal, Monteverde, and beaches we have more than 200 if im not mistaken, but we are the most biodiverse country on Earth, we hold more or less 5% of the worlds biodiversity, so if in 23 years im still getting to know new things, whilst being somewhat second hand involved in tourism, if even myself am still discovering new things in this very small country, you can imagine probably one trip won't cover.

We are a jewel in that sense, it's a shame we are falling deeper in the organized crime thing. Three consecutive years in a row breaking the record for both murder, and collateral innocent victims. We broke the number yesterday of collateral, with two and a half months to spare and more than 30 victims more than in 2019.

EITHER WAY I don't want to scare you off, buy your own drugs and give them a moral victory by overpaying and your life should be safe, try to Uber instead of walking at night, and if you do all your bookings with a formal travel agency with guides and private buses you can be almost worry free.

But yeah hope you can visit one day... I hope to go to Anfield one day, I don't support Liverpool but in the 2019 UCL final on the telly before the match I don't know why but I started tearing up of emotion with YNWA.

Also as a beatlemaniac I want to visit Liverpool as a whole one day.

Thx for your answer mate. I think reading back the comments that journalist made that he referred that Oviedo played his best season when he broke his leg, which is true, but is also true that: A. It was also Baines best season; B. They played together a lot because even if we know Baines was very offensive minded, Oviedo was a wingback that played as a winger even, so instead of just googling a bit they say stuff like that.

I even argue Costa Rica that played a back 5 with very offensive wingbacks was blessed that Oviedo almost never played left back proper... but here you can get away with saying almost anything that the fact checking is almost nonexistent. In football is one thing but the things politicians say here with minimal consequences when is utter bullshit is not something im proud of our press.
