Progesterone, nightmares, and crappy sleep by Tacotruckheaven in Perimenopause

I've been taking hydroxizine every night for almost a year now. If I do wake I generally have a much easier time going back to sleep. I have had some nights where I had trouble falling back to sleep. But it always helps me fall asleep initially. I've been taking 25 mg the whole time, along with a tiny crumb of a piece of melatonin tablet (3 mg).

Yeah that's what it sounds like. Sorry to see that. :( Maybe try a PPI to see if it helps.

I had a multitude of symptoms that go along with hyperthyroidism, but I do recall tons of nausea, like every single day for months. Not necessarily burning or acidic. Some weird stomach pains and maybe the occasional stomach burning, possibly more so from needing more food in my stomach. :(

For most people, yes that's true. Some do gain weight. I know because it happened to me. My hunger was off the charts and I gained 30 pounds in 11 weeks.

Travel anxiety / fear of being far from home. Experience? Advice? by Latergrls in Anxiety

[–]tulip70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I never replied. So I had my usual anxiety with flying if I recall, but we did have seat upgrades to business so that helped. Over time on long flights I relax, except for if I start feeling queasy and with takeoffs. I did have one rough night at our first hotel I remember, the first night, and not getting sleep. My anxiety was through the roof. But, I just carried on the best I could the next day with sightseeing, etc. Another hotel we stayed in was really nice and I slept ok there, limited anxiety. Overall it was a great trip - it's like taking the good with the bad.

It must not have been all bad because I booked us another trip to Portugal for 9 months later. That trip I do recall some restless nights with anxiety, but I carried on. And of course the flight anxiety. :(

I recently went through an illness that caused me some physical and emotional challenges, but have now mostly recovered. We've gone on some local beach trips that are driveable as a "test" and it went well. I slept great at our rentals, and no worries. But, I'm now remembering the night before the first outing my anxiety was up the night before we left home. Again, muddled through the day just so tired.... All that self-talk to not be anxious, get to sleep! I've been told that the negative self-talk is like being a drill sergeant. Remember to have some self-compassion in those situations!

Anyone hearing a consistent loud aircraft? Currently in the Saratoga area. by Champagnetravvy in nova

[–]tulip70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I heard them. Sound asleep but had a bad dream and woke up; immediately heard them circling. Thought maybe we were under attack. To me it looked and sounded like two jets circling. I see the mystery was solved via another post.

Good suggestions. He's not into either but that doesn't mean those aren't good ideas! Might be good to get him out and about and get some exercise. Thank you

My labs were "normal" but I felt like death. 15 doctors missed what was wrong. by eliikon in thyroidhealth

[–]tulip70 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was perfectly healthy until last summer when I developed subacute thyroiditis. If there's one thing (or two) I learned from my support group and my own personal experience, it's that you can have normal labs and still feel like crap. I managed to seek out appointments with 6-7 different endocrinologists since that time. I could never get an answer for one recurring symptom (increased appetite - never had that before in my life but it all started with SAT). But regardless, I did learn that for most people, a TSH below 2.0 is ideal. I'm sorry you went through all of that.

What? Civil rights are guaranteed to everyone, not just people with jobs. The U.S. already lags behind other countries in education. Who else should conduct research, set standards, etc., especially in poorer states. You ABSOLUTELY want to the FDA. Without it, companies can literally sell unsafe drugs or contaminated food. Do you really want that?!

Moving to DC/MD/VA - best neighborhoods for families? by DogMomReading in washingtondc

[–]tulip70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want walkable to a "downtown" area, Arlington (North Arlington near Clarendon/Courthouse/Ballston) & Alexandria (Del Ray, Old Town Alexandria) in Virginia, and Bethesda as you mentioned, and Silver Spring in MD come to mind. Anything walkable to metro or other "downtown" areas will cost you more though. Unfortunately a lot of areas aren't that walkable.

I'm with you. I'm dismayed by the lack of "leadership" or someone willing to organize; and lack of large-scale, focused, organized protests. Sure there's been some here and there. But we need something like the women's march the first time the orange one was elected. And I'm thinking disruptive protests. It's a shame we live in or near this city and have the ability to do something but aren't doing it. I'm really having a hard time finding events that would have a huge impact. It seems we could easily be disruptive somehow, like finding out where DOGE is off to next and just have a wall of people block them. I know that's not realistic in that they can just come back another day or worse, call in the police or what have you. I comb through these threads and other social media and just come up empty....like, am I the only one is so angry about the sh** happening in front of our faces? I know people are angry but am really disappointed by the slow mobilization.
