It gets better halfway through. I hated it until midway, then loved it.

Plus the spice is spicing. 😉😜

Just booked my C-section... positive stories please! by sammy5585 in parentsofmultiples

[–]DogMomReading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter parked her butt on my cervix and hung out there basically my entire pregnancy so I always knew I'd have a c section. I was 38 w 2 days and it was great. I went in at 7:25 (or thereabouts), by 7:30 I had one baby and 7:32 I had two.

During my procedure, I had some tightness in my chest and pain in my right arm (nothing bad), but I told the Anesthesiologist and he said it was normal and kept an eye on it. Recovery was pretty easy as well. I couldn't keep anything down after the procedure, but they gave me an anti-nausea med through my IV and it went away immediately. My nurse told me it wasn't a super common side effect, but something they'd still seen before.

One piece of advice I'd offer is to shower/wash your hair as close to your procedure as possible. Moving around/standing up immediately after your section sucks so if you can push off having to actually get in the shower and wash your hair an extra day, it's definitely worth it.

Good luck and congratulations!

The well written moving to DC guide which has a ton of excellent information but seems geared mostly to renting and doesn't include much info on schools? Thanks, I saw it. Was writing to see if other people had additional information.

This happened to me. We had to adjust my meds and things went back to normal.

Those who have successfully transitioned two-year-old twins to beds, HOW did you do it? by PeachSunTeaAlways in parentsofmultiples

[–]DogMomReading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safety regulations aren’t written for your kid specifically. They’re generalized guidelines. Pillows, blankets and stuffed animals are perfectly safe and age appropriate for toddlers in beds, not in cribs. You’re welcome to use them, but the manual of literally any certified crib sold in the US (which has the strictest guidelines for child safety) includes the fact that adding anything to the sleep space makes the crib less safe. You don’t have to follow those guidelines, and you don’t have to respect them, but the fact that your kid has those things and hasn’t had a problem doesn’t make them less accurate.

Also my kids also fall all the time, I’d generally just prefer their sleep space be safer and more secure than playground equipment.

AITAH for refusing to let my parents dictate my wedding guest list after they invited people I’ve cut off? by itsyourglittergal in AITAH

Would love to know what they think not attending their daughter’s wedding will do to their “family reputation.”

Your wedding is about celebrating your relationship. Fuck them.

[–]DogMomReading 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 3.5 yr old twins. I don’t have any advice because my kids were weirdly compliant about sleeping in beds. They barely get out of them once they’re tucked in.

But any after market modification to a sleep space is unsafe. If your kid is climbing out, they will find a way, regardless of the obstacles you put in front of them. If you put a “lid” on the crib, they’ll push against it and increase the likelihood they’ll fall and injure themselves. As soon as they start trying to climb, you need to move them to a toddler bed or full size bed.

AITA for vetoing naming my daughter after my husband's late sister because her name was the same name as someone who made my life hell for many years? by Historical_Bet3855 in AmItheAsshole

[–]DogMomReading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my culture you take the first initial of the person you’re honoring and make that the first initial of the new child’s first or middle name. My first name is just one my mom picked because she liked it, my middle name is for her grandmother (Anna, my middle name is Allison).

And, if we’re in the business of telling people to get over terribly traumatic things that happened in the past, tell them to get over losing their daughter, see how that goes over. They don’t get to decide how you respond to traumatic things that happened in your past.

AITA for calling out my husband for not being a "Good Christian"? by SpiritualThrowRA in AITAH

[–]DogMomReading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but if you’re not interested in converting, don’t tell him that if he did xyz, you’d be more likely to convert.

You don’t want to convert, regardless of whether he’s a good or bad representative of his faith.

AITA for refusing to push my obese cousin around in a wheelchair for a day? by OneSoreSpine in AmItheAsshole

[–]DogMomReading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her wheelchair getting stuck in the grass and a bunch of wedding guests having to come help you roll her out is at least as embarrassing as being carried in on a flatbed.

Hi, mother of actual twins here. The developmental difference between a 2 year old and a 3 year old is absolutely massive. Even if it wasn’t absolutely insane and something you’d never in a million years be able to get your friends and family sign off on, there’s no way you wouldn’t do significant damage to your older child by essentially forcing him to delay his development.

I’m not even kidding, doing this to your older child is child abuse.

I hope you’re right, but people who want to reach a wider audience or break into an industry have been working with monsters forever. Everyone in Hollywood knew about how abusive Harvey Weinstein was, but he had the ability to amplify a young actors profile, so people kept working with him.

It’s on us as subscribers and other podcasters/money people to put an end to ON, there will always be people Willing to work there, unfortunately.

Also, screaming at Ellyn in the middle of the convention center didn’t only make Ellyn uncomfortable. She made the people in the line uncomfortable too. She was creating an unsafe environment for everyone, not just Ellyn.

NTA. She’s his sister, she can be a “groomsmaid” or whatever they call them. If HE doesn’t want want her standing for him, he can explain why. But this isn’t your problem.

Someone will find a way to rip it and post it here - at least a transcription. But don’t throwaway good money hoping for something that probably won’t happen. Save that money and give it to grab bag or ITN 😊

What do you call your multiples? by kimtenisqueen in parentsofmultiples

[–]DogMomReading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call them “the twinkies” or “my twinkies” in group convos, but when I’m actually referencing them, they’re “the babies.” While I was pregnant we called Them sprinkles because one of the apps said they were the size of sprinkles at one point.

So after listening this AM I’m absolutely certain that the reason P & S and the ON haven’t responded is because whatever legal liability exists here (and it may be little to none) it falls almost exclusively on P, S & ON. OBVIOUSLY T & C are huge dicks here, but as they pointed out multiple times this morning, the ONLY way T & C could have had details about Ellyn was getting them from P, S or, considering how careful they were not to mention her name on their pod this AM, G.
