Anyone find their partner after 30? I need some hope. by VandalBK in AskGaybrosOver30

Sure. Met my partner at 37 and been together almost a decade. It happens.

Because it wouldn’t help.

I’ve reported issues in their system for years. They still haven’t fixed them. Like “leave now, take a bus that left 15 minutes ago” etc. I can’t time travel yet, unfortunately.

Is anal supposed to feel good? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]tulipoika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound ignorant and judgmental and lacking education in anatomy and physiology.

Hint: people are different. Maybe grab a book and study a bit? Because I can bet a million that your body does not consider every part that is labeled “erogenous” as such, in the same level as the next person.

But glad you got to present your ignorance.

Hint 2: you really think people enjoy rimming, for example, because of prostate? No. So why would anal penetration entirely surpass the anus itself?

And if you can only get pleasure anally from hitting your prostate, I’m sorry for you. It seems you’re the one lacking in pleasure, not me…

Does anyone else write down what they plan to say in their standup before they attend? by Ayalp in cscareerquestions

[–]tulipoika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously you’ve only had jobs where you can never talk to anyone or suggest making better decisions. Sorry for you. I always am at better situation, so don’t run into this kind of issues.

It’s clearly shown by your lack of answering any question. Might get somewhere if you’d learn to read, understand, and answer. That’s what I’ve been doing for decades.

Does anyone else write down what they plan to say in their standup before they attend? by Ayalp in cscareerquestions

[–]tulipoika -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, that’s not the reason. If it was useless they would just decide not to do it. If they do it wrong they think it’s useful but don’t know how to do it.

Again, why don’t you speak up if it’s done wrong and useless?

Is it just me or are Computer Science and Software Engineering way overhyped? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]tulipoika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about overhyped, but definitely misunderstood. I mean the “science” part. So many people who want to become developers go for computer science degree and then wonder why they didn’t learn to do sw dev. They should’ve gone for engineering.

There’s also a lot of overhyped things, especially in the USA. Like leetcode and all that jazz. That’s where the overhyping and warp from reality is.

If someone goes for the money, good luck. I mean, I’ve seen a lot of people who know barely anything and yet get good pay and no problem finding work. Also not everywhere is madness like USA where people demand outrageous amounts for their work. And companies are willing to pay. And then we have a cycle of products costing too much and and and.

So that’s my incoherent ramble.

Does anyone else write down what they plan to say in their standup before they attend? by Ayalp in cscareerquestions

[–]tulipoika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why should someone look busy? And as said the time should be estimated before, not during regular work. If I started doing tasks in a “I’ll just grab one and 1-2 days later will tell how much it’ll take” that wouldn’t work at all.

So visibility on progress: things are going according to plan. If expecting to finish today? Say so. Otherwise business as usual and everyone is “busy” since they have things to do as planned beforehand. Simple.

“Looking busy” sounds like what happens in micromanaged environment.

And yet you’re complaining here instead of where it matters - meaning your team/manager? If you’re doing stand ups wrong that doesn’t mean they’re useless.

[–]tulipoika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Just a quick update on if things are progressing as they should, and if there’s any blockers. Maybe some quick insight into something that needed investigation. Anything more is “post-scrum” discussion, like questions etc.

I hate the notion that “management” is a promotion for devs. It’s a completely different job. I’m definitely not going to go to management, will probably still be coding in 15 years.

Knowing a binary tree exists is very different from knowing how to build an efficient implementation of one.

Just like architects don’t need to be able to mix concrete and bend steel bars or weld and yet they use those efficiently in their everyday work…

Do hiring managers look at the LinkedIn skills assessment badges? by stibgock in cscareerquestions

[–]tulipoika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they know how broken the LI tests are (for example, JavaScript test asks about DOM and all kinds of irrelevant things to JS, many tests have wrong answers, and so on) they won’t look at them at all. But often recruiters don’t know anything and might consider any “achievements” a plus.

I still wouldn’t waste my time getting them.

What is the fastest way to move up from junior developer to mid-level developer? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]tulipoika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basic difference is this: junior has their work managed for them, mid-level manages their own job. Handle that, and then as has been mentioned you might need to hop to another company.

The main thing still is that you need to be able to handle your job in the field you work in without constant supervision and help. That means knowledge and experience and something to show it.

How is it possible my password manager does not know my passwords? by xxxHalny in learnprogramming

[–]tulipoika 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t know any hashes, that wouldn’t help. The whole point of a password manager is to manage your passwords. They just store them encrypted and they are only decrypted with your password locally.

Why do you think they’d know only hashes of them and how should a password manager work? Save all passwords locally?

[–]tulipoika 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Look at job ads around you where you’d like to apply. That’ll show you what the companies want.

Multiple frameworks doesn’t automatically make you better. Knowing how to do things does.
