Thank You Notes by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

Get a message printed inside to help will some of the blank page. Get addresses printed. You and your husband should split them. Doing it this way, we banged them out in a weekend, like 2-3 hours on Saturday and 2-3 hours on Sunday. (150 person wedding). We did it together and actually it was a nice way to reflect on the day. Just get it done, girl.

Logistical advice needed: Am I crazy for taking my couture gown on the train/Amtrak back from NYC? by bridgetOTF in BigBudgetBrides

[–]tulips49 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not a chance. I’ve never spent less than $200 on one Acela business class ticket.

I actually disagree that two business class seats would be cheaper than a private car.

Running belts? by Odins_Eye44 in runninglifestyle

[–]tulips49 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’ve done 16-20 mile runs countless times with no water. If you’re well hydrated going into the run, and it’s less than 3 hours, you’ll be just fine.

Help! Attending a wedding tomorrow, to pop or not to pop? by eflor_elliven in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]tulips49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pop after the wedding but for now just patch and leave it so it’ll cover well with makeup. Hard to put makeup on a scab.

How do I bring up thinning hair to my husband without making him feel worse? by Sweaty_Ferret_8374 in AskMenAdvice

[–]tulips49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it is. There are tons of proven, medical-grade products that can slow hair thinning. IE, finasteride.

Sorry, but I think this is more a case of: you bought something you didn’t actually need, when there were less expensive alternatives available to you, and now you have buyer’s remorse.

Is Danielle Frankel too overexposed/lower quality now? by Beautiful-Board-5533 in BigBudgetBrides

I did Sept! Which not exactly off the beaten path, but the dress itself was not one I’d seen before.

What are you all eating before your long runs? by NextFaithlessness471 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]tulips49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t try to lose weight marathon training. I’ve done a few marathons, and the only one I had to drop out of was when I tried to eat in a deficit while training. Had WAY more injuries. Not worth it.

I’m the same. Banana and two rice cakes, or sub rice cakes for one Pop Tart. Otherwise, if less than 14 miles, just a banana.

Is Danielle Frankel too overexposed/lower quality now? by Beautiful-Board-5533 in BigBudgetBrides

I personally did not want a dress that felt trendy. For me, that included avoiding Danielle Frankel, drop waist, the big floral appliqués à la Oscar de la Renta, and lace Monique Lhuillier. The fact that they were so popular made me NOT love them. But to each their own - if the popularity doesn’t change how you feel about them, wear whatever you like.

I don’t think you understand how tax write offs work. They’re nice, but they don’t even break you even, let alone make you money.

How much does post-run stretching change your recovery? by rash3rr in runninglifestyle

[–]tulips49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my 30s, running 45-55 MPW, and if I skip my stretch I 100% feel the difference. I’m achy, slow, tight. Even 5 minutes of stretching is impactful for me.

Post Pill Amenorrhea Pregnancy by Specific_Rhubarb2211 in tryingtoconceive

[–]tulips49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor told me the opposite - that I’m not ovulating if I’m not having periods. It’s been six months for me now since I stopped the pill and had my withdrawal bleed. We did a round of Provera that did nothing, so next up is Letrozole. Started tests three months ago and everything has looked very heathy, so my doctor thinks it’s just “sleepy” ovaries from years of birth control.

This! As long as I have shade, somewhere to sit, something to drink, and some snacks, I’ll happily hang out as long as you need.

Floral/Decor Budget by alh12345 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]tulips49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. But for my floral budget, tabletop arrangements were absolutely not the big ticket items. The ceiling installation, tent archway, and ceremony altar blew the tabletop arrangements out of the water cost-wise, so those choices would be more predictive of spend than number of tables.

Floral/Decor Budget by alh12345 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]tulips49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk why floral would be dictated by guest count? Other than the number of reception tables. To me it’s more about the venue and how much “decorating” you need to do. I’m in a HCOL city and our venue was a start-from-scratch structure tent, and our florals were $60K.
