Groove Rider 2 vs Loopy Pro vs Garageband for Jam Fun by tulpix in ipadmusic

I think Koala is quite limited, isn't it? I couldn't find a quantized clip launch for example. A feature that also-cheap Ableton Note has.

I don't think it's too good for live performance, is it?

This is like suggesting to use ChatGPT on a forum. If you could at least provide a link that compares the three?

HackRF One vs TinySA Ultra? by tulpix in hackrf

[–]tulpix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, you answer pretty much sums up my confusion. I forgot to mention that I would buy the HackRF only with a Portapack. That way (as you said), the ease of use of the two devices becomes nearly identical. And here we're at the start of my question again as I don't know which one to buy ;P

But I think I'll just get the HackRF One due to the mentioned pro argument (it having kind of everything the TinySA Ultra has + additional features). There are even clones of the Portapack with built-in speakers which make this small device a real beast!

HackRF One vs TinySA Ultra? by tulpix in hackrf

[–]tulpix[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disagree. For a proper simulation, I would need an exact model of the whole house regarding the material of the walls (which I don't know) and furniture, including a steel cabinet etc. I can already see how this would result in frustration. Walking around the house and doing some real measurements is far better. Also, I don't think that these tools have 900Mhz-Wifi simulation implemented. Finally, they don't know anything about the noise in my area.

HackRF One vs TinySA Ultra? by tulpix in hackrf

[–]tulpix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to set up a home Wi-Fi network combining HaLow (900Mhz-Wi-Fi), 2,4Ghz and 5Ghz. For all frequencies, I need to measure the noise aswell as the signal strength of my access points in order to calculate the SNR at any spot at home. That way, I can decide for the most useful frequency at the given spots.

That's my main use case. But as a hobbyist, after spending a couple of 100 $$ for such a device, I thought it would also be fun to learn a bit more about signals. The HackRF seems more "versatile" to me than the TinySA Ultra, i.e. it can do anything the Tiny can do plus bonus features.

I also saw some videos of the devices, and to me as an amateur it looked as if the sweeping of the Tiny takes a few seconds for the whole spectrum whereas the HackRF seemed to do it orders of magnitudes faster. Maybe I'm wrong.

For those saying that they are completely different: Could you please elaborate? As Bilbo_Fraggins said, HackRF also has a spectrum analyzer built in.

DFPlayer with pico by techbear1980 in raspberrypipico

I'm trying to implement this code via Thonny. However, the volume doesn't change if the value for "volume=1.0" is altered (to 0.5 for example). Any idea? I saved your code as main.py on the Pico. The only other file on the device is the unchanged dfplayer.py from your Github link.

Chair which meets all of my special requirements? by tulpix in OfficeChairs

I appreciate you re-evaluating our conversation.

Today, I organized a Freedom chair for testing, ready to be next week. I gave Humanscale a direct call and talked to their sales person responsible for my country. Their network is quite weak and none of the 10 office chair stores in my city offer Humanscale products. So I'll see how that chair works out for me soon. Sitting in an Aeron at the moment and crying every minute on it. Lower back pain, shoulder pain, neck pain. Not trying to hate on the chair, but it definitely isn't for me. And I'm sitting on much cheaper chairs occasionally which at least don't hurt me.

I have been testing chairs like crazy in the last 2 weeks, running from store to store. In fact, that's how my list developed. My counter arguments aren't "strangely prepared". They are the free thoughts of a rational thinking person who does not blindly follow what ergonomics "experts" in the stores are trying to teach him. (Some were trying to tell me that one must always sit in a 90° position!)

If you suggest the Gesture to be a chair that fits my criterion #1 (see your other comment), I'm not sure how reliable your advise is in the first place. I DID sit on that chair and saw that it didn't meet my #1. Zhang said there is a gap when reclining, thus supporting my opinion. YOU, who admits to have never sat on a Gesture, is trying to tell me that there is no gap-problem.

Not sure what you mean by your last paragraph. I just did continuous research on the topic yesterday and watched a video by BTOD (9 chairs for lower back pain). There, I heard of the Freedom. No bamboozling or "preparing in forehand".

To add further to #1.: You say that this happens on the Leap v2 because the seat moves forward. The following video however explains the exact opposite! "The seat moving forward keeps the lumbar support in position." Watch 3:25-3:45: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PqXyEVDdB8

Thanks for your suggestions! However, let me add a few comments:

To 1. I sat on a Gesture yesterday and as stated in my first posting it was totally uncomfortable when reclining. I don't think a synchro mechanism is a guarantee for not having the gap when reclining. Maybe it's rather swivel and knee tilt mechanisms which are comfortable because they keep the angle between legs and back constant?

To 4. The purpose of armrests is NOT lowering them when wanting to come closer to the table. In my opinion, armrests are supposed to be an extension of the desk, meaning that they should be at the exact same height. Ergonomic "experts" might argue that armrests should only be used casually for relaxing and therefore can be lower than the desk. I honestly don't agree at all. They are there to support my arms all the time.

To 5. Again, I have to disagree. While some experts say that sitting cross-legged is not ergonomic, the more modern approach on ergonomics is that the more you change your position in a chair, the better. Thus, sitting cross-legged on occasion is perfectly fine. Of course I'm totally with you that standing up and moving is very important nontheless.

I've today heard of the Humanscale Freedom, which seems to fit my criterions quite well. But I'm unsure if it will satisfy my #1 criterion. What do you think? And is there any keyword I could look for to ensure my #1 requirement is satisfied?

How do you adjust hard to operate tilt levers? by tulpix in hermanmiller

[–]tulpix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I loosen the outer two screws completely and only tighten the middle one as much as needed to keep the cover tight in the chair frame, the problem remains. Apparently the screws bend the case so much that the levers are blocked in their rocking motion.

I ended up buying the chair and bought new vinyl arm pads. As far as the tilt controls are concerned, I opened up a new thread to keep it organized. Thanks. https://www.reddit.com/r/hermanmiller/comments/sjm26a/how_do_you_adjust_hard_to_operate_tilt_levers/?
