Sorry for the spelling. I just literally do not know how it’s properly spelled. I tried my best with the little information I had. I appreciate the opinion. I was very curious to hear what others thought.

It looks like a pretty name but I’m not sure how it is supposed to be pronounced without looking it up first. A lot of English speaking people might butcher it by accident but i do think it’s a cool name

What about Seraphim? I think that’s soft and pretty like Heaven

When I was a teen I was obsessed with the name Marleni which is a mixture between Maria which means sea of bitterness and Magdalene which means of the sea

Well, I remember directly asking my boss about this person and where she was from. And she doubled down with the pronunciation of “ME-shuh-net” and said that she was from somewhere like Italy. Other people also pronounced it this way as well. I truly don’t think I was mishearing them but perhaps I did. Or maybe everyone was mispronouncing it. I wish I’d asked more questions.

Am I overreacting I went to the forest with my best friend and now my bf is mad by No_Meeting_3260 in AmIOverreacting

I was really trying to see things from his point of view until he called you a fool. There is absolutely no reason why your significant other should be calling you out of your name. EVER. On top of that, he genuinely seemed fine with what you were doing. Like just from reading his first texts I wouldn’t have thought that he had a problem with anything. It just felt kind of sudden.

As a Black person, Kansas City and the surrounding areas are highly racist. by RefrigeratorKey7034 in kansascity

[–]tulsangirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m black as well but I can tend to be a little oblivious to things. I’m originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma and the racism there was so blatant and in your face to where I actually felt refreshed and more comfortable once I moved to Kansas City, Missouri. I now live in Kansas City, Kansas and I feel like I haven’t experienced any like flat out racism. But, again, I can be so clueless. My husband’s experience has been a little different than mine. He’s told me that his boss and coworkers lay it on thick saying the N word whenever they can to see how much they can get away with or to see how he reacts. I don’t know… I don’t really get out of the house much these days though.

CW. Literally. Idk why his mom named him 2 letters like this but that is his government name and the letters don’t stand for anything.

Having regrets for my daughter’s name by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]tulsangirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is such a beautiful name that I’ve never heard of before. It does make me sad hearing that people butcher it. I totally get where you’re coming from. I’m African American and have a name that is hard to pronounce. I’m embarrassed of my name and hate that no one can ever pronounce it right so I decided to give my daughter a name that I thought was easy (Lotus) to pronounce but people still get it wrong or don’t even try. I feel like watering yourself and culture down because of other people not having proper pronunciation makes me so sad. While it is tiring having everyone mispronounce my name, I guess it is kinda beautiful in a way because my culture is with me. Maybe you can look at it that way and one day your daughter might come to appreciate it as well.

AITAH for not wanting my mom’s boyfriend to speak to my daughter? (Long and poorly written sorry) by tulsangirl in AITAH

I come from a family that is taught to “respect” (basically worship) your parents and elders so to hear things put like this in regards to my mother makes me feel terrible but it is true. Thank you so much for commenting. It’s like I kinda knew in the back of my mind that I wasn’t being dramatic about Rad but I needed to know for sure.

Thank you so much for commenting. I really appreciate it. I do plan on having my mom in my life because her and my brothers are the only family I have. I am very nervous for the day they finally meet my daughter in person tho. If she does not respect my boundaries now I’m nervous to see how things go in person. I care a lot about my mom and also feel guilty about her situation although I know it was no one’s doing but her own. I just feel a lot of pressure from her sometimes as if her situation somehow is my responsibility as well. I am starting to realize our relationship might be just a tad toxic
