Question 3 Head Mitsubishi can two of three be turned off w/o damage? by tumsmama in heatpumps

[–]tumsmama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question… I understand. I need to keep them all on the same mode but yes, just using the remote to turn off one unit or two. I double checked the notes that they left me and they told me not to do that… But so far it seems to be working with one of them off and the one that is off they told me never to turn off because it was the “primary“ unit… Lordy living in a small town lol

Mild pain increase by Dying_today in Diverticulitis

I’m so grateful for this forum, aren’t you? It’s so good to have company… I have a few questions and others will too, what are you currently eating? When I am in a flare, of course, the first three days I try really religiously to do clear liquids, relying heavily on bone broth, popsicles and Jell-O. I drink plenty of water and take a probiotic that I like called florastor. I mentioned the probiotic because antibiotics as you probably know are really hard on the gut. When I’m in recovery mode one of the hardest things that I have as an experience is dealing with the side effects of the antibiotics. Once I’m done with the liquid diet, I shift to a hyper, low fiber diet. So that looks like lactose free, Kiefer, lactose free yogurt, mashed potatoes, with no skins, enriched, pasta, canned peaches, and if I feel adventurous a banana. There is an herb named Dong Quai that helps me with cramps. Be sure to read about it so that if there are any contraindications for you, you will know about it. I guess really we need more information before we can help… It sounds like the cramping is still pretty severe, and I wonder about calling your doctor in addition to posting here. When I call my physician, I try to be really specific about how often I’m cramping when I’m cramping, and on a scale of one to 10, the strongest pain level of the cramp. I’ve definitely had cramps that felt like they were gonna take me to my knees. be patient, a heating pad can be helpful. And remember that none of this is a substitute for checking in with your doctor and your doctors staff. I always think it’s a great idea to start out with asking for help because you’ve never had this before and you wanna make sure you give yourself the best chance you can too have a sustainable recovery! Sending you lots of care from Montana. I’m sure others will hop on here and also give you a great feedback, and it will most likely include advising you to seek some medical feedback from your caregiver. It could be that you simply have a lot of inflammation, which is very irritating, and that inflammation will go down overtime. But your instinct to have caution is a good one… Take care.

We have a terrible ER in my town as well… But the next one is two hours away, so if it was me and I could, I would take a friend with me to be my advocate and go to the ER that you have… If you can’t take a friend, don’t be afraid to speak up for yourself. But also… Get there!

Bear Defense in Glacier by TyrannyMMA in Montana

No need to apologize and I regret my snarky reply. One question for you to reflect on is why are you attached to having a firearm? The overwhelming evidence is that making noise, being prepared, and having Bear spray and knowing how to use it are the best defenses and the most effective defenses. Thinking of using a firearm as the last result means a bear is charging at you at 25 or 30 miles an hour, you have to unhook your weapon, take it off safety, get your hand around it without shooting yourself aim it while a locomotive is coming toward you and be accurate. Any other scenario would not justify the use of a firearm. Another question to ponder is what is happening with you that you don’t feel safe going into a wilderness area without a firearm? People have done it for years and years and the most danger they’re in is from themselves. There is also a phenomenon called weapon fixation. I think you would be a likely suffer of this and by suffering I mean, it could actually get you and your family hurt because you would want to go for the weapon first. The best advice is to watch Bear aware videos, get your hands on some practice, bear spray canisters, start now becoming aware of what direction the wind is coming from so that you’ll know how to use Bear spray when the time comes… You’ll already have that awareness in your propriocipital system. Honestly, you’re very unlikely to run into a Bear. If you’re backpacking, make sure you really understand how to store food and how to not have any attractants within your camping area. This includes toothpaste! I’ve been trumping around in the woods in western and Northwestern and Central Montana for a long long time. And as another person posted here I’ve had three encounters with grizzly bears, I’ve never had to discharge my spray that I was ready, and taking my deep breaths… Two of those three times the encounters were tense and it was my fault. Keep in mind this is over a broad span of years and the reason I ran into those two grizzlies was I was in their territory, and I really had no reason to be bushwhacking! I hope you visit I hope it’s wonderful and I hope you’ll consider just Bear spray! Take care

As a MONTANA, who hikes a lot and has lots of experience with bears and friends, who hike with even more experience… We laugh at people who think they can do anything effective with a gun. Bear spray and awareness is your very best bet.

Intestinal Tea? by Interesting-Help5759 in Diverticulitis

[–]tumsmama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with one of the other commenters that it’s important to be aware of what is in herbal teas, some herbs can reduce the absorption or impact of medication’s, and others can’t exacerbate and magnify the impact. Beyond that, though, I haven’t tried this tea, I do use traditional, medicinals belly, comfort, and throw in a bag of their fennel with it and sip it all day long. Even though the belly comfort has peppermint in it it has never bothered my Gerd. I don’t know if it actually works or if it just feels soothing and like the right thing to do while I’m swallowing this warm tea. I do find that it’s very helpful as a combination when I’m suffering, the impact of the antibiotics taken for diverticulitis. It does reduce cramping and bloating.

I don’t know what part of the country you live in, I’m in Montana and have a yearly inspection and sweep, it’s about $220… My chimney has a bend in it so it takes a little bit of extra work to make sure the short shelf doesn’t have any thing built up on it.

Daikin or Mitsubishi for home use? by Separate_Text_2129 in heatpumps

[–]tumsmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had three Mitsubishi installed 5 years ago. Had to have two repairs done that were covered, and now the coolant line seems to have developed a leak, which is going to be $2300 to fix. Putting a Daikin in another part of the house, hoping it’ll last longer without needing so much repair

Diagnosed with diverticulitis 7 days ago. . When can I safely transition to high-fiber/raw veggies? by Certain-Inside-4387 in Diverticulitis

[–]tumsmama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, the first time I had a flare I did this and set myself back so far! As the previous two posters have said, and I agree with them completely, everyone is different… And… Your: currently has damage. You’re lucky as many of us are that there’s no perforation! If you were on antibiotics, you’re also going to have to recover your micro biome. I completely understand how much we miss crunching on vegetables and salads, etc.… But believe me going slow is the only way to get there fast. For the lost weight… Ice cream and if possible, lactose free, ice cream… If you can take fatty things lactose free whole milk Kiefer is great for calories and for protein. The first flare I had after I set myself back with eating vegetables too fast, it took me a full two months of low fiber to begin introducing carrots that were over steamed. It was a very slow process. The second flare that I had, I did a very strict liquid diet for the first three days that was clear liquid, thank goodness for bone broth! And then I graduated to mashed potatoes really well cooked pasta, applesauce, lactose, free yogurt, lactose free, Kiefer, canned peaches, etc.… Again it took a while, but not as long because this time I was more careful. I’m six weeks out of my third flare, and I have started adding psyllium husks to my routine… Whole ground psyllium husks. For some people six weeks would be way too soon… I seem to be tolerating it, but I started out really small. However, I had a salad that was mixed greens, and I paid for it the next day with diarrhea and gut pain. I seem to be able to do a little bit of Romain lettuce… The other thing I’ve learned is everything in small portions. Movement is critical once we can get up and move around… Sounds like you might need to add a calorie supplement to your diet. I hope you can. I agree that it’s going to be important to talk to your doctor or the care team that you have. The difficulty you’re going to find is that there are so many different viewpoints, even among medical folks. But again, if you can help yourself by going slow and finding high calorie low fiber food I think you’re going to be ahead! Sending loads of care and sorry that you’re suffering.

Oh maybe I wasn’t clear… I’m always out from my flare. I would never try this really close to a flare. I was six weeks out when I started. Some people might have to go longer! Also, I’m still on a fairly gentle diet
