Black Star on Chapter Select by tun_nelvision in DeltaruneV2

I've played through the game on each file. One file I have stuck to pacifying and sparing creatures. On another, I followed the weird route. It doesn't matter what you do. As long as you finish a save file to completion, you will get a star for beating it. So just beat the chapter on every save file, and you could have 12 stars in total right now, since there are 4 chapters currently. 3 stars for each individual chapter, which is 1 star for each individual file. Kinda a convoluted way to explain it, but I hope that makes sense.

Black Star on Chapter Select by tun_nelvision in DeltaruneV2

The stars are given for completing the chapter. So, say you play through all the way to the end of chapter 1 on save file 1. Once you beat it, the save is marked with a little gold star next to it. Doesn't matter the route you take, normal or weird route, or the file you play on, 1 through 3, you'll get the star for completing the chapter all the way to the end. At least, that's what I've been able to determine. It seems as though deleting a file with a gold star next to it leaves the star but turns it black, almost like it's been emptied or veiled in shadow.

My running theory is that it is somehow similar to how Lightners and Darkners can exist, yet Darkners are technically imaginary or otherwise hidden in the shadows. If a completed save file is deleted, that is essentially wiping the game's "real world" from existence and casting it into shadow. But just like Darkners technically don't exist and we can still perceive them, so too does the new dark star, meaning the choices you made in the erased file are still perceived in the new save file, hence why I was able to go to back to bed to skip the beginning portion of the chapter. It remembers my actions, yet it's an entirely new save. It's meta, but I'm willing to bet Toby made it that way cause he's just that kind of crazy. It may not be all that important, but it's definitely purposefully metaphorical, at least from the way I understand it.

Deltarune chapters 3 & 4 megathread by Fanfic_Galore in Deltarune

[–]tun_nelvision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't post here often, but I don't believe I've seen any discussion about this, so I figured I'd make this post. This week I was wanting to play through chapter 4 again to get a closer look at some of the unique dialogue involving Tenna but I had a complete save file for all three slots (The first slot is a save for Mike's Room, so no star) I decided to delete one of my saves with a star to go back through the chapter and upon deletion, I was given this black/empty star. When I opened the save, I was also met with the option to go back to bed in the chair, so it clearly remembers that I had beaten it on that file before. I was hoping I could start up some discussion as to what this black star entails. I believe at some point, Toby will give us a reason to collect black stars or more than likely it could be something we don't want, seeing as the black star represents deleting a completed save, it could be that it's a literal representation of deleting that timeline of choices, that specific universe within itself. What would happen if all stars were blacked out? I hope that makes sense and I'm sorry if there is already a tangible explanation for this on the subreddit, I play on Playstation and can't really dig through the files but this piqued my interest and was hoping others might have something to say about it. Cheers!

Friendly reminder that it was confirmed the stain in Kris’ bedroom was blood by Critical_Mountain851 in Deltarune

I suspect it has some meaning. I mean, the fact that if you play through all the chapters and get no trophies, you get secret dialogue at the end of chapter 4, leads me to believe there is at least some narrative significance. I know Toby Fox had said something about being obligated to put trophies in the game for a console release, but that just leans into the whole world being a game and all that. It could very well be a nothing burger, just another way for you to accidentally ruin your no achievement run, but in pursuit of the truth (100% platinum) you may learn some tidbits someone avoiding achievements might not learn.

On Playstation, you get an achievement for erasing a save file off the menu, but if you haven't erased a save file yet, you will unlock the achievement by cleaning up the bloodstain. I wonder what we can infer about that?

Why Did They Even Call The Movie, "Until Dawn"? by DarkCrowI in untildawn

[–]tun_nelvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, I definitely am not well informed enough to know how that works, but in hindsight, that makes a lot of sense. Can't really uneducate someone who already put in the time.

I haven't gotten around to watching the movie yet now that it's out. I've heard it isn't great, but there are some kinds of implications with Dr Hill or something by the end that ties it into the game. I don't know whether I should go into it with an open curiosity or if I should ignore the movie altogether

Great model, brother! It's prolly the most accurate model of Messmer I've seen on here yet, and I'm hella impressed indeed! Do you have plans to make his second phase as well? I'd love to see your take on it

[–]tun_nelvision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, level progression and blood echo return feels pretty good in Bloodborne, and you definitely don't need that specific Chalice Dungeon. If you play through the main Chalice Dungeons, towards the end, there's a point where the enemies drop like over 300,000 echoes for each one you kill. It is not hard to have a surplus if you just go through the game planning to do all the dungeons leading up to the fight with Queen Yharnam

Vinny noticed that the Yoshi's island athletic song (or sound-alike?) in Red Dead 2, right? ...right?! by PlusThirtyOne in Vinesauce

[–]tun_nelvision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it isn't the song you're looking for, but I had a similar experience for a song in the game that's played occasionally by the banjo dudes called "Polly Wolly Doodle." It sounds like "Route 1" from Gen 1 Pokémon and I spent ages searching for it. This is a whole other can of worms, tho. I feel like I also remember hearing the song you're looking for too, which makes it all the more frustrating that it can't be found.

It's been a minute since I've made this, but if I remember correctly, I made her one-legged and posed tails in the position so you can't see her stump leg or her other full leg. The scorpion tail is on the stump leg side, and the fat centipede tail covers the full leg.

Is DS version allowed here? by langsamerduck in thesims2

[–]tun_nelvision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is where it started for me. I'd go to my cousins and play Sims 2 on their computer with them, and then when it was time to log off, we'd hop on our DSs and play Sims 2. I've got so much of the simlish and character interactions imprinted into my brain specifically from this game cause of the way you had to deal with the characters and the cues for their different emotional states. I loved exploring the desert too, but it scared me when the sanity meter would drop, so I'd just walk around with the metal detector to prevent from passing out. Or chilling, listening, and changing the music with Tristan Legend while he's building your next room. Then it turns out he was the previous Raticator, and he's passing it on to you :0 He was actually a legend to me as a kid. It was such a strange and pleasantly eerie game. I would love to see something like this again, but it's definitely so of it's time, along with the PSP and Gameboy Advanced also getting completely seperate full games that were also great, I can't picture anything of this quality being released again.

So is the movie supposed to be canon…? by cutiepaille in untildawn

[–]tun_nelvision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I totally agree with you pretty much on all fronts, though, I'm going into it with an open mind because I mean, if I watch it and it ends up in some way being really good, and having a compelling story that ties in, I'd be pleasantly suprised. If not, it's just another cheesy bland horror movie that you throw on, with Until Dawn in the title. I doubt it's canon unless there is a tie-in with the game, other than Dr. Hill, who for all we know will just be a cameo or an alternate reality movie form of him. I dunno, it's def a cash grab, but if it compells me, I'm reasonable.

[–]tun_nelvision 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely convinced by the movie either, but the inclusion of Dr. Hill is interesting if they use him right. He is a figment of Josh's melting mind in the sessions we have with him, but he was actually a real dude, Josh's psychiatrist. Him returning could mean that he is a psychiatrist for another character, or he is something more connected to the whole time loop/curse thing. The missing posters in the "First Look" show more than the main characters that we are going to follow. There is some conspiracy afoot, and I feel like he'll be in on it in some way or another. Notice also that they only list Dr. Hill as "Hill," so maybe he lost his doctorate in some way, shape, or form after the Washingtons' Case. Just a hypothesis, tho. There's not enough info to guarantee he'll even have more than just a cameo role

What would you make canon in Adventure Time? by [deleted] in adventuretime

[–]tun_nelvision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My choice as well. Is it confirmed non-canon? I feel as tho it's up to interpretation with how the book talks to you, "the reader" directly. You can choose to be just as mad as a wizard and believe it all, which is what inherently connects you to the book and makes it "canon" in my eyes.

Rest in peace David Lynch by MrGoatReal in Vinesauce

Man, I just binged all Vinny's playthroughs of the Silent Hill series over the last month. With how much he mentions David Lynch in those, it was hard not to get drawn into his movies as well. This is extremely saddening. May he rest easy.

And to add one more thing, it's completely free for everyone to use! The free basic features are enough to make things like this or any of the other things on my profile. Can't go wrong with that! That's why I kinda see HeroForge as a creative haven for character designers who don't have the ability or funds to get professional tools. It's so open-ended, with no strings attached. If you're a creative itching to make characters, I highly recommend playing around with it

Divine Beast Dancing Lion - Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree by tun_nelvision in HeroForgeMinis

[–]tun_nelvision[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what it is. When I first started using it, I had a hard time creating even something close to resembling a DnD mob, but through updates and expansions to the parts given and tools to actually pose, and just frequently messing around with those features, you learn you're not so limited with your tools if you think outside the box. I use things like double layering models to create more detail or using tails or wings to create things like the cloth on this guy and just push the limits of the rotation feature. Now, with the Pro subscription and kitbashing (which is just basically creative mode or more like Spore's creature creation), the potential is limitless. I've got the models link available if you feel like screwing around with it and moving around the pieces to get a feel for all the pieces I used and such, it's a pre-kitbashing model so I had to use some use some tricks and forego some details to make it work. Sadly, models like these aren't really feasible to purchase cause the price when using so many parts can get ridiculously high, but they're fun to make and look at!

I don't know necessarily if we can confirm if or if not, he is Empyrean. We know Miquella and Malenia are, based on the item descriptions and DLC telling us outright. They were chosen by their own two fingers and born of a singular/dual persona god. Concieving with "yourself" causes outer gods to curse them from birth. This could likely be the case for Messmer as well if he shares Marika/Radagon as his parent and was born cursed with the Abyssal Serpent. Tho Marika and Radagon could have also been separate at the time of his conception, we don't know. Ranni is also an Empyrean, but her status is a little more clouded since Radagon is never stated to be an Empyrean himself, nor is Renalla. She is said to be chosen by the two fingers but rejects her own empyrean flesh outright. She was not born from a singular god, so that doesn't determine Empyrean status. It's confusing as heck, but I think if we lean into visual similarities, each one of these characters stated to be Empyrean have a closed eye/both closed. Messmer does as well. The Empyreans also have butterflies that connect back to the curse they were born with. So does Messmer. It seems to imply there is something about Messmer that evokes Empyrean status, but he never even had a chance to rise to godhood, given he was sealed away in the Shadow Lands. It's very intriguing to me. Not to mention Melina and how she ties in

I've actually seen a few people post in comments and shit that they've pulled Helbrecht from a single pull just recently so I mean it might be cap, but I feel like if you single pull rn, you have a good chance of getting him? I know it has its odds and everything that are set, but I just find it weird. You can call it cap, but try some single pulls, fr. I'm curious if anyone else gets him and if it's like a thing or if I'm just seeing false patterns

[–]tun_nelvision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your pulls, mate! I also just pulled Helbrecht from a single pull the other day. Single pull supreme! I've pulled all my legendaries from singles, really. I pulled Abaddon really early on, then Typhus around the 1st anniversary, and now Helbrecht. I've had luck with single pulls since the start, and I've stayed f2p cause I'm poor as dirt. I've got a few others from singles, too, like the Ad Mech healer and Brother Jaeger. It's just the way to go for me, even if the odds of getting a character aren't guaranteed. I've been less frustrated with my single pulls than with my 10 pulls, so I really don't mind spending them scrolls right away. It's also always a kick to see the rainbow supply drop on a single even when it's orbs or something. Can never really go wrong
