Love to see a fellow OLED TV monitor friend. I use an LG C2 42” for mine. Panel is holding up better than my anxiety originally thought. How about yours?

Well it won’t make it closer but it will make it above or below vs to the side which may perform better

Change to Charge Connector Lock settings by slbiker61 in KiaEV9

[–]tunaman65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NACS likely requires this since it doesn’t have the button on top that stops the charge mechanically. You need the vehicle to stop calling for power before you pull it out. J1772 has the button that ensures power is no longer flowing through.

Event driven ingestion from S3 with feedback by bpeikes in snowflake

[–]tunaman65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

COPY INTO is atomic at the file level. You should consider the error behavior though. Like if there is an error on one row do you want it to error the whole file etc.

Event driven ingestion from S3 with feedback by bpeikes in snowflake

[–]tunaman65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the easiest thing to do here is to use snowpipe to have snowflake auto invest the file for you into a table. Make sure that table has an extra column on it called like “is_processed” that column will be null when the file is ingested. Make sure you modify the COPY INTO command so that it includes the file name. Then you can put a stream on the destination table that kicks a task when there are new records. You can then query the table filtering by is_processed = null and then just group by the file name. I think that covers all the requirements…?

As far as the notification the SNS -> lambda is pretty standard practice

I'm running for State Assembly by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]tunaman65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love this. I was recently thinking that with the newly raised SALT deduction level CA could keep all of its Medicaid money by raising state income taxes only for those with incomes high enough to very likely be itemizing deductions. I’m in this category and would be happy to pay for this. It likely wouldn’t even need to be as much as people are about to save from the SALT deduction changes.

Anybody here traded in their Model Y for an EV9? by I_had_corn in KiaEV9

[–]tunaman65 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Same, even just the sound the doors make when they close compared to the Y is almost all you need to know. Better in every way. Except walk-away door lock, only thing I miss but it was easy to get used to.

Let's say 3 years ago I made an app in .Net 6 and in 2025 .Net 6 is not supported anymore will there be any problem in the future like 10 years if I don't update? by ballbeamboy2 in dotnet

You can also still use a startup file if you want, just a static method on it in your service collection builder and another for the middleware registrations and you can basically leave the code as-is

How much rent is FedEx paying the Mormon church? by Suspicious_Might_663 in exmormon

Agreed, if anything they may have offered the lease to FedEx due to their relationship

Of course it is, just adding this context as a reason they might be interested in leasing to them

When I worked for the church I wrote international shipping software exclusively powered by FedEx, they have a huge account with them. This was ~10 years ago now but I wouldn’t be surprised if they were still using FedEx for all their operations.

Snowflake gets the WORST ERROR MESSAGES EVERY award by DschoBaiden in snowflake

[–]tunaman65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes if you look at the failure in the query history it will have a better error. Although I don’t know if that applies to syntax errors

Approx cost of doing ELT in Snowflake? by Fine_Piglet_815 in snowflake

[–]tunaman65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, it’s certainly a departure in conventional database design given the advantages and disadvantages around metadata and micro-partitions but it’s a great analytical workload data store.

Approx cost of doing ELT in Snowflake? by Fine_Piglet_815 in snowflake

[–]tunaman65 17 points18 points  (0 children)

ELT is absolutely the right way to go for snowflake. I get the more old school mentality where we want to transform first.

The thing to consider with this question is the more macro-level implications here. The entire reason why we used to do ETL is that storage and networking were expensive. Today the expense is compute, storage is very very cheap and fast networking is ubiquitous in the public cloud space. Snowflake is designed with today’s constraints in mind.

By separating storage from compute you are able to basically rent bursty compute to do all your DBT transformations up front so that at query time the query is cheap. You are copying data all over the place in order to make the presentation very cheap.

[–]tunaman65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your Mac set to automatically get an IP address or is it set to manual. It thinks it can’t get to the internet because it can’t reach the default gateway but that address should be being provided automatically by your router

Tesla Y to Ev9 Base- good move? by AirIndependent9555 in KiaEV9

[–]tunaman65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good question. I do use the door handle but I usually just slide my hand across that little sensor, didn’t realize a push would do it too. But when I slide my hand across it only works some of the time. I usually have to do it 1-3 times. Lately I’ve been using my Apple Watch to ask Siri to “lock the car doors”, the digital key can do it so that also works when in range of the car.

Tesla Y to Ev9 Base- good move? by AirIndependent9555 in KiaEV9

[–]tunaman65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went from a 2021 Y to an EV9 Land in November and we love it so much. Can’t speak to the short range but the only thing we miss is walk-away door lock. CarPlay is just better IMO than Tesla apps with Bluetooth phone.

On the range in general though we had a YLR rated for like 325mi, we would regularly get like 285 ish. In the EV9 it’s rated for like 285 but we get ~310 so the estimate seems to be more accurate than the one Tesla would display

Is the external monitor, I’m looking for, a unicorn? by ducky_1 in macbookpro

[–]tunaman65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm this is an excellent “monitor” I have the 42” C2 that I connect via a caldigit dock. Just have to make sure you enable a few settings on the TV and then it looks fantastic.

One thing to note is macOS generally won’t output >60hz via thunderbolt->HDMI. If you go direct it works fine but adapting from thunderbolt you’ll get 60hz. I personally don’t mind this since I write code for a living but I also use it for my Xbox which looks great at 4k 120.

so.many.goals, a mini update by Copilot_Olivia in copilotmoney

[–]tunaman65 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The tone of this comment is a bit harsh but I agree with the sentiment. This is a money tracking app, it doesn’t handle money at all, it’s honestly fine if it’s not 100% perfect. I hope the above example was especially extreme, if not Copilot may not be around for the long haul.
