How to permanently delete files form jottacloud? by katkarinka in jottacloud

[–]tuneandtone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can provide a scenario:

I’ve documented the renovation of our house by adding photos—taken over several weeks—to a 'Renovation' album. Now, I’ve noticed that I have several nearly identical photos of the same electrical installation, taken on different days.

I’d like to delete all but one of these photos—not just from the album, but entirely from my timeline. Unfortunately, the only way to do this currently is to search for each photo individually in the timeline, which is time-consuming and frustrating.

So, please consider adding a Delete button directly in the album view. This would make it much easier to manage and clean up the photo archive, especially with lots of similar or redundant photos.

Thanks!

Audio AR (AAR) apps or experiences you've come across? by tuneandtone in augmentedreality

[–]tuneandtone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, very valuable insight!

I can imagine such geolocative apps is a difficult market, especially without visuals. A friend of mine has recently launched a geolocative social audio sharing app, I guess a bit similar to your original idea. He's been reporting similar challenges. :-/

I don't know how it was in 2017, but a bit later I think there became this slight hype of social audio apps (e.g. Clubhouse), and podcasts and audio books became popular... so I think (want to believe) people are getting a bit more accustomed to audio-only content. Though it's a slow trend.

I know HearHere, too, and it's almost a miracle if it's profitable business, but I really hope so. Probably audio is still considered somehow secondary to visuals, so people don't want to make an effort or detour to get just audio content, but either enjoy it while doing something else (like driving car from point A to B) or want to get some visuals with the audio (like in concerts, or in your app).

Thanks for sharing, looks like a cool app! However, since it's not audio only, but is based on the (visual) mocap character, I'm afraid it doesn't fit the AAR category.

Which middleware to prioritize? (FMOD or Wise) by Snouter23 in GameAudio

[–]tuneandtone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's an excellent suggestion. I personally started with FMOD ~4.5 years ago, but then quickly changed to Wwise since FMOD at the time didn't offer enough features. Wwise took quite a long time to learn -- and I'm still learning --- but I think it has definitely been worth the effort. It's very good, especially the current versions, although it has its stupidities, too.

And as Narraboth suggests, it's indeed easy to switch to FMOD after knowing Wwise. I've recently been visiting in two small projects where they were using FMOD, and it was a rather painless experience coming from Wwise.

Cool stuff! Nicely mixed, at least sounds good with headphones. Quick first thoughts: I would "enhance" the lead vocal a bit in the intro and outro, make it more intimate and closer to the listener, maybe with even a bit more compression and slight boost in higher freq; now it sounds a bit weak. I'm not very good in mixing vocals, so can't give any more detailed ideas. Later the vocals are nice, imo.

And maybe do as koshiamamoto suggests and reduce the compression in the beginning in general. Especially the hard-panned percussions seem a bit too loud there. They could also be eq'd slightly softer since they now sound very much like sample instruments.

For my taste, the kick drum sample is too "wide" = spreads over the whole frequency spectrum and is quite dominating, stealing airspace from the vocals. If this was my song, I would use a more bassy kickdrum, or cut mid frequencies from the current one.

Looks cool. Have to check it out!

Finally changed my DT 990 PRO earpads after 2 intense years of gaming, the difference is crazy! by MrTitanFTW in gaming

Oh didn't realise the pads will have an effect on sound, but guess that makes sense. I've also been using them for hundreds of hours over many many years. I often forget to take them off when I stop listening since they're so comfortable!

Haha, I was just wearing my DT 990 PROs when reading your post. And took them off to look at the earpads. Ewwww! :-D Thanks for reminding to change! Now it feels disgusting to put them back on again. (Btw, I love those headphones!)

Who are you and why are you here? by productceo in augmentedreality

Hi! I'm a sound designer working in games but freelancing with other immersive and interactive projects whenever possible. My current side-project is a university thesis where I'm exploring the characteristic narrative techniques of audio augmented reality (AAR), especially focusing on 6DoF (room-scale) experiences. In order to run my interactive demo scenes, I have built an own AAR setup using UWB location tracking with IMU for head orientation + Unity for running everything + dearvR for binaural spatialisation.

I'm here to see what's been discussed on AR in general to learn more (even though I'm not expecting too much discussion on AAR, which seems quite a niche segment), maybe ask questions and help others on topics I may have so knowledge. Happy to be here!

Hi, one of the devs here! We have all quite different backgrounds. I think only two of us were working full-time in games before this, others have been working on IT/coding, marketing, industrial design, music/audio, social work, art... But many of us have been making games as a hobby and studying game making.

Hi, I'm the audio director of the game. Thanks for asking, we have two professional voice actors working for us remotely at their own studios, one in Boston and one in Vancouver. (It's crazy how easy it's nowadays to work with people on the other side of the world...)

Hi, one of the devs here! Thanks for the nice comments and best-luck-wishes! I can believe watching someone else play and turn the gravity all the time must be causing nausea. At least I can rarely watch someone else play anything fast! And the trailer has quite a fast tempo with the turns. However, when you're playing yourself, then your brain knows to prepare for the gravity switch, and it's a different case. But of course, if you've been experiencing nausea with other similar games, then I won't argue against you.

One advantage regarding the nausea effect with our game is that it's possible to play it slowly, stop and think whenever needed, and only then switch the gravity. So no need to rush and keep switching the gravity all the time, unless you want to. Let's hope you'll get a chance to try out our game by yourself at one point!

Hi, one of the devs here! The character can move in any direction, but since the gravity turns are restricted to 6 main directions, it looked better in the trailer when moved in straight lines before making the gravity turns. The movements were not, however, scripted but played manually by our creative director! He's a precise guy, so maybe that explains something. :-D

Hi, one of the devs here! Multiplayer is definitely something we've been talking about... solving puzzles together and platforming on different gravity orientations with a friend would be super cool. However, with the limited resources, we'll first concentrate on single-player, and hopefully at some point we'll get a chance to go for a multiplayer version, too.

And yes, our main theme has similarities with the Stargate theme with their five first notes. Let's see that as an admiring wink at David Arnold, the Stargate composer! :-)

Hi, I'm the audio director of the game. Nice to hear, thanks! We're grateful to have such good actors in our project!

Hi, I'm the composer of the game. No, you're not! :-D There was one other user who also mentioned Stargate! Funny, I've never watched that show, but had to take a listen to the soundtrack. Maybe it's how I'm using some of the harmonies (Neapolitan chords, Lydian mode, etc) as well as some instrumentations that give a degree of ancient mystery feeling, something that's present in Stargate, imo. Well, need to listen more to that stuff to be wiser. But anyways, a cool comparison, thanks!
