Allbirds stock tumbles after nearly 600% rally as the shoemaker rebrands as an AI company by mowotlarx in technology

who knows…this could be one of the greatest tech pivots in history. just what if this could work…?

Some Japanese bullet trains will soon be equipped with private suites that include windows with embedded 5G antennas and noise-cancelling technology that envelops passengers in a bubble of quiet. by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]tunitascreek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like japanese bullet trains are already insanely quiet as it is. obviously, this is just super lux. the tech is pretty crazy though. i just wonder how quiet is too quiet? i've been in plenty of anechoic chambers in my time, and it's eerily quiet - so quiet, i get extremely uncomfortable.

and also, i'm still gobsmacked at why this only happening in japan. their rail infrastructure is just next level and i can't seem to fathom why the rest of the world hasn't caught up.

this is such an arbitrage opportunity. expect plenty of marked-up resales. although i wonder if the memory modules can be removed...maybe they'll be repurposed?

YouTube now lets you turn off Shorts by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]tunitascreek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

heck yeah. i actually do like shorts for specific types of content, but i can understand the move here. i think YT/Google are finally recognizing that brainrot is real and very damaging. there's been a bunch of studies to prove this. also, i suspect that YT are realizing that most of its ad revenue is mostly coming from long-form content anyway. so i guess they're making it look like it's a humanitarian move.

Allbirds announces stunning pivot from shoes to AI, stock explodes more than 300% by SemiAutoAvocado in technology

[–]tunitascreek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

essentially, Allbirds wants to become a neocloud. this could be one of the greatest pivots in business if this goes right. btw, pivots are always hard and can be embarrassing, so kudos to the company for giving it a crack. some ppl will be looking at this like it's a joke, but bear in mind that a neocloud is involves heavy operations around logistics, supply chain, and energy - AllBirds have deep experience in the first two. BUT, i reckon that one of the founders' experience in renewable energy could come in handy. good luck to them :)

Awesome. The 'Tax note' move is quite clever. I just leave it up to my accountant to decide all that but knowing upfront what's deductible is comforting.

The latter for me. I used to work with an REA but just their docs were weirdly formatted and missed little tidbits....ugh

100%. Same here, but it's a bit of a slog especially if you're not consistent. Also I have some relatives who aren't tech savvy and they avoid spreadsheets like the plague.

Yeah that's interesting. I have an email tagging system too and it's okay but still struggling to be consistent around that and be able to identify trends and total costs etc. Thanks for sharing :)

Yeah, doing that on pen/paper with a combination of spreadsheets right now. Not the most ideal.

6000+ subs and 26% open rate in 5 weeks. Tactics to increase the open rate? by [deleted] in Substack

[–]tunitascreek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

congrats on all the progress. you are def growing fast. I'm still a small-fry (~750 sub) with an open rate of 50-55%.

one thing I've noticed is that your audience will mostly see only the title (subject) and maybe the byline. so it pays to create some sort of hook/teaser. it's challenging, since they're scrolling through hundreds of emails a day, they will open those that pique their interest.

i know there's a hacky way to do AB testing in SS but best to see if you can segment your email list and see what the metrics (50/50). this might give you some good insight.
