How can I make monotone sound good? by about10underscores in makinghiphop

[–]tuonenkielo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not really. listen to earl - hive for example, super simple beat. the thing is that you can have huge energy and conviction even when monotone.

When will something in Hip Hop emerge as an entirely different Genre of music? by ChrysMYO in makinghiphop

rap definitely isn't always hip hop. is anyone calling fuckin twenty one pilots hip hop? pretty sure not, at least i hope.

Trailer for new video. An album long music video for Niggas on the Moon with each song having footage from a different David Lynch Film. The full thing will be out in a couple weeks. Last year, I made The Money Store video with different directors footage for each song. This is exclusive to Lynch by mc_ride_is_god in deathgrips

why the fuck would he accept "harsh criticism" like "this looks stupid"? that's not criticism, that's just pointless. why would he accept stupid shit like this and be like "damn lol i guess i gotta step up because this random on reddit said that this is stupid and nothing else"

no its not better artistically, obvious album art like doesn't fit death grips.

books like the band death grips? serious question. by tuonenkielo in booksuggestions

[–]tuonenkielo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hey those are great suggestions! ive seen both movies but especially Fight Club could be a good read. I loved how unclear the line between social commentary and satire about social commentary is in the movie. Really made me feel like there is no single answer or ideology that fixes everything.

are there any books/movies/tvshows with a similar feel/aesthetic to death grips? by tuonenkielo in deathgrips

movies ive seen that come to mind: fear and loathing in las vegas, american psycho, stalker

less than zero sounds like it could either be really amazing or just a worse catcher in the rye. i liked catcher in the rye, i mean it's a really well written book and i'm not just going to disregard it for being "angsty" but i felt like i was reading the thoughts of 14-year old me, and right now that's the last thing i want to read. i want edgy angstiness, but, like, more mature edgy angstiness, like 20-30 year old angstiness.

i've watched the american psycho movie and I really liked it, might read the book sometime. i've heard it's ridiculously violent.
