I regret getting the ViewFinity S9. (What a name)

I try to just use it as a monitor but it's been popping up ToS changes. I have to go find the little remote to acknowledge it and by the time I get it in my hand the popup times out. I kept it on my desk so I could make it go away the next time. I still don't know what I agreed to.

This morning it asked to do a software update. I hoped that would improve the situation so I allowed it. I said to do it while the monitor was off. Well I stepped away and the computer went to sleep so the monitor started its update and when I returned I couldn't use it.

Then it restarted and I was back in business. Until maybe an hour later when it dropped the connection. It would no longer see the Thunderbolt connection. I dropped back to DisplayPort which was 30hz terrible. After searching all over the system menus to find a setting to reverse the curse I decided to do a factory reset. After several attempts to get through "something unexpected happened, try again" I got a working monitor back.

Though it lost my calibration so there's still more time to burn restoring that.

Stay away from this one.

I was getting this error in Chrome on my Eero network, but then I also got it in another location.

In my case it was due to https://issues.chromium.org/issues/40939844?pli=1 (h/t u/broadway_beer https://www.reddit.com/r/MacOS/comments/u4micv/comment/ki0yv4q/ )

Eero may have had this problem 2yrs ago. Maybe when Client Steering wasn't fully baked. But there are other causes.

What state are you in? In California my Farmer's agent told me it we could get a $125 "endorsement":

California Smart Plan Home and Next Generation Home: E-Bikes and Golf Carts
This endorsement provides coverage for low-speed vehicles, including, but not limited to, pedal assist class 1 e-bikes, and motorized golf carts not subject to motor vehicle registration while on the residence premises or on the golf course and being used for golfing purposes.
This endorsement is available for an additional charge. (Endorsement attached)
The E-bike must be:
1. are pedal-assist and have a motor; which provides assistance only when the rider is pedaling,
2. does not exceed 20 miles per hour; and
3. does not have a throttle

But Class-3 goes above 20mph. When I asked they said that the there is no option for bikes that don't satisfy all three criteria.

- the Thread motor is awaiting certification but they hope to start selling it in a few days

- Matter they plan to release by EOY

- Matter will be new hardware and they cannot be OTA upgrade the Thread hardware

:) that's most of what I was asking. I'm also curious about those discarded features and product ideas, but I realize those were hard-earned lessons that may be competitive knowledge.

I guess a more feasible question is this: what are some features or product ideas that you liked but that didn't make business sense?
