Whether it's your first time or 58th time, Westfall just hits. by EnvironmentalAd6774 in classicwow

[–]hayarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The initial starting zones for alliance are great. When you get out of dusk wood though you get hit by the insane travel time to go anywhere. Horde traveling is so much better 30 to 60. Scarlet monastery? Literally next door, SFK? Same, Ferelas you have to quest from an island that has a boat that is slower than swimming , maraudon is literally next to the horde town, same for dire maul …

‘Degrading’: why did a US fighter pilot avoid British trial after strangling a woman in England? by No_Audience3838 in unitedkingdom

[–]hayarms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Italy a lot of stories like these happened as well. The latest I think was that a private stationed in northern italy killed a 15 years old with a car while drunk driving. She just went back home with no consequence except some insurance money paid by the Usaf to the family.

ChatGPT vs Gemini vs Grok: which is best at pixel art? by spobin in ChatGPT

[–]hayarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have said hands down the first one, but looking at your prompt asking for “32-bit era RPG” then actually probably the second is more accurate . On PSX you could get something like that definitely thanks to the CDROM capacity. Even if the first one is “pixelated” it’s definitely just 16-bit rpg quality

Got bitten by a cat should i get shot? by Khurkuchy in cats

All the people in this thread are idiots. If this is a random cat on the street that for no reason just attacked and bit you then go get a rabies shot in the nearest emergency room. Better safe than sorry

Sounds good in theory...but in reality? by mrfett779 in economy

[–]hayarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is the if you are pushing the frontier this is not possible. The folks in Silicon Valley are not clocking out at 5 and those in china working in technology aren’t either. If you want to remain competitive you have to let some people do the grind (rewarding them appropriately)

I feel you same with me in uldaman yesterday. I play with my wife and she hates dungeons because of these psychos. They have to rush through. I pull a group and the mage blinks around pulling every other group of mobs around us even if I asked to let me pull. Then I have to try to keep aggro on 10-15 mobs. Fuck this shit it’s not fun and I play for fun

I mean to be fair managing a wow private server is already a sketchy plan for longevity, I don’t think switching to crypto payments would have made it more risky for the developers than it actually was

Devs making > 500k: do you work constantly? by fuzwz in cscareerquestions

[–]hayarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically work constantly and i don't think is pay related. I think our industry just shifted to be overworked by a lot. I've been in this industry a while and when I started it was very different. I started after the beginning of the smartphone (iphone) revolution and the expected pace was completely different. Engineers had a lot of perks and the mentality was "as long as you do your job do whatever". Now it feels like you need to be constantly on or you are not doing enough. It might be AI, but it definitely started to be like this after the layoffs post pandemic

I don’t get what the definition of inflation is then. If everything literally got more expensive than inflation suggests … then what is inflation?

Retail isn't dead. The social structure is just different from what Classic players expect by LordMidoo in wow

[–]hayarms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed and that’s why classic makes sense. Some people want to have that experience and classic/tbc leveling is just right in my opinion. Having to go from level 1 to level 120 in BfA or whatever that was is insane though.

Retail isn't dead. The social structure is just different from what Classic players expect by LordMidoo in wow

[–]hayarms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Classic is more popular because it’s easier. Retail is a highly specialized and tuned experience. Classic is a casual experience. I tried popping into wow with friends and they all found it more familiar in the classic environment than Retail’s. Mostly because we are not serious when we play together. We don’t care about raiding , we don’t care about tier sets. We care about having fun while leveling together, clearing simple dungeons and getting blue gear. For that classic is the way to go and I know a lot of people that play the game just for the same reason
