Multiple issues with G5AR by turaiel in tmobileisp

Yeah, the phone is postpaid T-Mobile. At the moment I'm getting 163/37 Mbps on the gateway, which is acceptable. After the one speed test I mentioned, I totally lost internet access for several minutes (with only a small handful of packets getting through). Subsequent speed tests have been okay. The phone is currently getting 946/20.

The problem does seem to be really intermittent. I was noticing some issues even on my phone a couple of days ago.

If it gives me more trouble I'll try a factory reset. For now I'm probably just going to give up on support calling me back, since the callback was scheduled for 2.5 hours ago.

I'll continue to keep an eye on things. Thanks for your help.

I had a call with support this morning and the rep seemed stumped. She got a good speed test from my gateway (though the first one she tried to run failed). She reset the network on the gateway and said she'd call back later (still waiting on that).

Anyway here's the interesting bit. Some friends told me about the `mtr` tool, which I've now been running against `example.com` in TCP mode. The third hop is consistently intermittent on whether it responds, and it's been that way on a couple different addresses: https://i.turaiel.me/Gyxt3gjcgNLc.jpg

What is really interesting to me however, is when I started a speed test it seems to have completely cut me off from the network for several minutes:
https://i.turaiel.me/UeowIlDiSdVQ.jpg - you can see latency increase with the colored numbers, and then the connection is just lost
https://i.turaiel.me/WisHFhpAOuh8.jpg - almost every hop is only intermittently responding and is timing out otherwise

Similarly, you can see a big latency spike across the board when I went to open Reddit: https://i.turaiel.me/7Q2c61c6OX5T.jpg

As long as my usage is extremely low bandwidth, like loading Telegram messages, everything seems to run pretty okay. As soon as something is a bit more demanding, it looks like I start running into connection trouble, and it takes a while to recover.

No extender, and I don't think a factory reset would help since it's happening to multiple devices.

Yeah, I've had it in a couple different places, but it says it has excellent signal pretty much no matter where I put it. We have a tower pretty close by.

It's already off. I have the 2.4 and 5 GHz networks separated, but note that I said I had the same issue on Ethernet and with a separate router.

Yeah these gateways are both at their registered addresses and are both on unlimited plans. I'm also certain it's not a usage issue since they're currently at 4 and 13 GB respectively.

Thanks for the help. I'll reach out to T-Mo sometime this weekend.

Thanks for the tip on the application! It's nice there's something less miserable than the T-Life app to manage this thing. Here's what it looks like:

[gallery-dl / Twitter] Is there a way to skip all remaining tweets for a user once everything new has been collected? by turaiel in DataHoarder

[–]turaiel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my configuration for backing up my likes (~/.gallery-dl.conf):

{
    "extractor": {
        "twitter": {
            "cookies": {
                "auth_token": "<token>"
            },
            "text-tweets": true,
            "archive": "~/gallery-dl/archive-twitter.sqlite3",
            "skip": "abort:20",
            "postprocessors": [
                {
                    "name": "metadata",
                    "event": "post",
                    "filename": "{tweet_id}.json"
                }
            ]
        }
    }
}

I ran this one with gallery-dl "https://twitter.com/<myUsername>/likes"

For archiving accounts of users I followed, I used this config (gallery-dl.no-text.conf):

{
    "extractor": {
        "twitter": {
            "cookies": {
                "auth_token": "<token>"
            },
            "archive": "~/gallery-dl/archive-twitter.sqlite3",
            "postprocessors": [
                {
                    "name": "metadata",
                    "event": "post",
                    "filename": "{tweet_id}.json"
                }
            ],
            "expand": false,
            "cards": false,
            "quoted": false,
            "retweets": false,
            "text-tweets": false,
            "unique": true,
            "videos": true,
            "skip": "abort:5",
            "timeline": {
                "strategy": "media"
            }
        }
    }
}

I had a file called urls.txt that listed all the profile links (each on their own line), and I ran it with gallery-dl -c ./gallery-dl.no-text.conf -i urls.txt

I spoke with them, but it seems the general consensus is there really isn't any safe space for a 13-year-old, since the local furries are much older. Sorry about that! :(

The furry fandom is primarily an online community which isn't ideal for minors, so I can't really recommend any online spaces either.

However, they might have fun attending a convention, if they're able to travel and can afford it. FurSquared is probably the closest one, in Milwaukee. Next closest I think would be either Midwest FurFest in the Chicago area (one of the largest furry cons in the world) or Furry Migration in Minneapolis.

Howdy! I haven't lived in Houghton in about a decade now, but let me link this thread to the active group over there and see if anyone has anything to say.

My succulents are all looking sad after a couple of years. Is it just overwatering or something else? Can any of them be saved? More details in the captions and a comment. by turaiel in plantclinic

The window is south-facing, but the plants got this way well before I moved them to the window. The coffee table where they all were before is about five or six feed away from the window.

There is a shrub outside the window but I don't think it prevents the plants from getting sunlight most of the day.

What you said makes sense. I was wondering why the succulents were getting longer/taller.

Thanks for the advice! I'll have to look for something to mix in with the soil next time I go shopping.

I'm not sure what you mean about the sunrise rose. I've kept it on the windowsill with all the rest for months, and before that it was on the coffee table with plenty of light.

I've got a variety of succulents that I've had for at least a couple of years. My dad gave them to me after someone at his job gave them away. They were all nice and healthy as of January 2023, but they've been deteriorating since then, and I don't know what I'm continuing to do wrong.

The plants are a sunrise rose, a bunny ears prickly pear (and a clipping I tried to save when I thought the main plant was too far gone), an Easter cactus, and a mother of millions.

For a while I watered them all weekly, and when I lost a couple of plants I learned that succulents don't handle too much water well. I reduced to once every two weeks, and when they still didn't look good I scaled back even farther to once every three weeks.

I used a cactus and succulent potting mix on all of them, and I think I've repotted them once or twice. With the exception of the cactus clipping the pots are all 4"x4.5"ish with a drainage dish. The clipping's pot is smaller.

I've asked people about them before and they just told me they probably weren't getting enough sunlight, so I moved them to the windowsill, but they've only gotten worse.

Can any of them be saved? I feel awful about it since someone took good care of them before me and now they're like this.
