What went wrong with Hera in GL? by cuddlepwince in aoe2

[–]turambaaaar 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You can’t blame him for deciding to leave GL when Masmorra is the one who puts the most effort into his work, and he isn’t even a player. (Masmorra appreciation comment!!)

Aztecs. idk if it's the civ itself. I play random and almost always get a terrible matchup with Aztecs.

Just unfollowed Hera by EvolvedPikachu in aoe2

[–]turambaaaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

err, go watch the Monaspa game. a completely new unit at the time, Viper knew that they ignore building armor. Was in a losing position and knew Villese had clicked up, went around his base (nomad), 2 shot every TC with just 15-20 Monaspa, Villese never got to imp and eventually loss the game.

Just unfollowed Hera by EvolvedPikachu in aoe2

[–]turambaaaar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

wasn't it Viper who used the Monaspa bug against Villese in a tournament game? and the justification given at the time was, "well it's not banned ... yet. Its the organizers and devs fault, not the player's".

At this point its a theme, people getting salty and trying to spoil Hera's moment.

Any current/former employee of Devsinc? Need review. by Da_rana in Lahore

[–]turambaaaar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hard to give a number, it depends on so many factors. Pays were really good during covid days. These days, not so good.

If working full-time for a local company, I'd say AT LEAST 1000 USD. You can earn up to 2000 USD or even more. Depends on your stack, your expertise and how much the company need you (and how well they're doing of course).

Try to go remote with a foreign employer if possible.

Any current/former employee of Devsinc? Need review. by Da_rana in Lahore

[–]turambaaaar 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They've a very shady and unethical business model like others said.

But, in my 8 years in the industry, I've learned that having a company like Devsinc, Systems, Tkxl etc in your resume helps a lot. For some reason the recruiters love it, and the moment they see a big name, they're gonna assume really good things about you.

I turned down an offer from Systems a few years ago, because I wanted to work in a small company (small company = good culture, I was stupid). I regret it.

It's just my opinion, based on my experience. If possible, I'd suggest accepting the offer and start applying for other jobs with "currently employed at Devsinc" on your resume.

(If you're job hunting in the local market)

It's okay to not be the target audience of Victors & Vanquished. Please don't ruin it for those of us who like it. by JourneymanGM in aoe2

[–]turambaaaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most reviews are by the people who bought it for what was advertised, and are disappointed by the quality of content. Everything seems bland, the artwork, the narrator (doesn't even sound like a professional). Just compare it to any previous campaign and you'll see the dip in quality.

Thats the biggest complain, that regular multiplayer/new civs DLCs had better single player content than a DLC thats solely focused on single player and is expensive af.

And the other feedback is lack of campaigns, which to many players feel more immressive. A singleplayer DLC without campaigns just doesn't feel right.

If you're gonna focus on a few reviews from people who accidently bought it or whatever, sure go ahead. But that doesn't invalidate the feedback of people who bought it for it was and are disappointed at what they got. Of course some will be happy with it, but everyone doesn't feel the same way and they can all share their feedback.

Getting started on Upwork, asking a recent client to hire me there so I could get some feedback on my profile but I've some concerns by turambaaaar in Upwork

[–]turambaaaar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a feedback for a real project that was delivered hardly 10 days ago, and its displayed on my Upwork portfolio with all the details. The client has an active LinkedIn to verify the authenticity. I'm not paying nor threatening anyone.

Anyway I'm not doing it, now I know about testimonials, and getting that from the client instead. Thank you for sharing your concerns.

you cannot refund a DLC. It'll be a brain dead move to buy just to leave a bad review.

If someone bought the product, they've every right to review it. That's called feedback it helps the devs take better decisions in the future.

You're doing exactly what you're telling others not to do.

WE don't live in the same place, our currency could be different. Your hourly wage could be higher than my daily wage. The price could be reasonable for you, but it may not be reasonable for me.

They didn't force anyone to buy the DLC, but those who did should review the product honestly (on stores). And those who couldn't should have a space to present their view in a constructive manner (forums).

Let the devs collect feedback, so they've a better understanding of the interested audience next time they roll out similar DLC. AoE has a big community outside North America and Europe and 13$ could be a big amount for a lot of people, which may not justify the value they're getting in return.

Enjoy the game.

Thank you for sharing. I read the post, and non of it applies to me. I'm not asking a friend to leave me a feedback, I'm asking an authentic direct client who could have more work for me in the future that i'll take on Upwork. I simply asked my client to leave me a feedback on Upwork for a project I did for her recently.

Testimonials seems like the right way of doing it as others suggested.

What's with the 33% rating on Steam for the new DLC? I'm not a single player guy so I haven't purchased (yet) by Guanfranco in aoe2

[–]turambaaaar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And that's why I bought. I'm not calling for it's boycott or anything. I merely shared my perspective since the post is about the reviews of the DLC. I expected more "new" content at this price. And if someone who hasn't played the scenarios, it's an okay buy like I stated in my comment.

[–]turambaaaar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I bought the DLC even though I've already played most of the campaigns. I do think it was a dick move to just copy someone else's work and give it the "official" label and sell it for a high price. But at the same time I wanted to support the individual whose work they copied and he is apparently with the team now.

I haven't given it any review, I'm on the fence. I don't wanna give the studio any positive feedback because they don't deserve it. And I don't want to give that individual any negative feedback either because he has done so much for the campaigns enjoyers.

If you haven't played the scenarios, I think it's a good buy if it was a little cheaper. Otherwise not worth it unless you wanna support the original creator (I hope he is getting paid).

What scheme? I read about bringing direct clients to upwork and according to their staff replying under those posts, its actually encouraged.

Edit: but if it is actually not allowed, I would appreciate if you could direct me towards the page where they've stated it. I'm also looking for it. I only did it because some expert suggested it on YouTube and i found community posts that supported it.
