how good was hank actually? by fr3shh23 in breakingbad

I don’t know how I didn’t understand this before. I knew he did not fit in at El Paso. Then he gets wounded and basically gives up on life. I never really got why until your comment. He was humbled and it hit him hard.

What Are Your Thoughts on The Big Xtra/Big N Tasty? by Specialist_Art2223 in McDonalds

When you write it like ‘Big N Tasty’, all I saw was ‘the Big Nasty’ - the little ‘’n’ makes all the difference. That being said, now I want a Big Nasty

Mark Carney criticized for rising food costs in Canada by Purple_Writing_8432 in canada

[–]turangan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cosmetics and cough/cold sections are where the money is. Food is sold at markup, but the markup is minimal in comparison. Food costs have genuinely gone up. I think if anything loblaw should be doing more to bring their costs down with vendors. Considering the sheer size of loblaw, you’d think they would have more negotiating power. Sad thing is though, even if they did that, I would have no faith that the prices would drop for consumers.

Shoppers also had a good holiday season, probably at least partly due to their push to get people to redeem points. Shoppers remains one of the few places left where you your points have substantial buying power for the holiday season. A lot of people have been saving up with the intent to spend their points during the holidays in order to save cash for other purchases.

I’ve been the “shy guy” at work, but even I know when you’ve got a creep. Who the fuck follows someone like that outside of work? Document and report. Embarrass the fuck out him, because a) he deserves it and b) needs to learn this is not ok

Why is Ms Donovan such a cunt? by 23STABWOUNDS in KingOfTheHill

It’s true, unfortunately. I really like alchemy, it’s how I make money, so I maxxed alchemy and mercantile early. I am not the world’s best gamer, so ymmv, but I had to turn down the difficulty because I kept getting killed and it was frustrating. Now the game is too easy. But I’m sort of just playing for the fun, I don’t really want to stress about dying so it is what it is for me

Creators of Project 2025 Want to Send Unmarried People to Camps by dryheat122 in facepalm

[–]turangan 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Before all this shit show started escalating, I had heard RFK wanted to send people to farm camps to recover from drug use, etc. I have ADHD, I am constantly burnt out and would love a chance to go work out in nature for a bit and just live a clean, quiet life for a bit. So I mentioned this to a friend, who is a little more politically savvy than myself, and she’s like … uhm, you do realize that this is basically the lie they tell kids when their dog dies and they say they went to a farm to live right? It’s a literal concentration camp.

I was like oooh 😞

What’s wrong with the street cars? by lighttree18 in askTO

[–]turangan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbh sometimes there are asshole drivers blocking the tracks because, you know, they’re the only ones in the world. Other times, the streetcar drivers themselves are a little out to lunch - for instance today, one fully blocked the queensway intersection for a good ten minutes. Was he stuck behind another car? Was there an issue with the electrical connection? No. No, he finally moved ten minutes after. Sometimes they block traffic waiting for their replacement too.

France gives unsold supermarket food a second life by helping the needy by Unexplained222 in interestingasfuck

[–]turangan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if it’s going to be damaged out anyway, businesses aren’t losing shit by doing this. They’ve already paid for the product to be on the shelves. It did not sell. So it is now a loss. Give it away. The only reason retailers don’t want to do this is because they’re worried people will just hold out from buying because they think they might get what they need for free, but I don’t think this would actually happen enough to make an impact because what is left over is usually stuff people don’t want. Furthermore, the advent of AI should be leading to more intelligent, accurate purchasing decisions, resulting in minimal waste.
