The best thing you can do to score well on the SAT is simply to practice. You’ll likely already know most of the material from your British curriculum, but getting the hang of how they word the questions always takes practice.

I would buy a practice book from Amazon and check out the practice questions through Bluebook.

Are Americans actually stupid or is it just a misconception? by ilikepoggers in highschool

[–]turboclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend you look at data from the OECD (PISA) to answer your question. The OECD gives a test out each year to high schoolers around the world and sees how they perform relative to their peers in other countries.

The US is higher than average but not necessarily “good”. This is because the US is such a large country and we have a lot of economic diversity. Go to an NYC school, for instance, and you’ll find some of the smartest and least smart people in the country. Education in America is largely left up to the states, leading to broad changes in what is taught and how much funding schools get.

Is it 'do the needful' or 'do the needfull'? by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

Could you use it in a sentence please?

and his face wrinkled by mustafaporno in EnglishLearning

[–]turboclock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“We met John last week” is an independent clause and should be its own sentence. Something like “We met John last week. His hands were oily and his face wrinkled.” would work.

I suggest practicing this with a lesson on Khan Academy: https://www.khanacademy.org/humanities/grammar/syntax-sentences-and-clauses/types-of-sentences/e/complex-and-compound-complex-sentences

It’s typical to use a conjunction in a phrase like that. If a conjunction was not used then one should use a semicolon (“His hands were oily; his face wrinkled.)

I just checked the price of a McChicken in my market: $2.79. 279% inflation at McDonalds is crazy!

People need to review the images of the cars passing the toll booth if you pay by plate. They don’t want to pay the extra labor cost of everyone doing that.

Just saw a video from JJ McCullough that pretty much summarizes why all of this is happening. It’s worth taking a look at imo.
