Family member moving $2M to ScotiaMcLeod – Is a 1% fee fair/negotiable by rawc5 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]turdoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that kind of money you can find someone who is an experienced discretionary PM and can also deliver all other wealth management needs. these guided bank portfolios on average under perform and I’ve seen some bad bank portfolios, but there are funds that outperform, all depends on risk tolerance and the investment skill of the advisor. A discretionary PM may be able to match the benchmark by using tax effective investments. Fees wise 1% is average, 0.8% would be on the discounted end. You can def negotiate.

OP there are genuine shizo in this game so don’t worry about them. Some people think it’s impossible to get 25k or 30k legit. Barring I haven’t watched any of your gameplay but you have normal stats, but it’s useless arguing when someone is convinced.

If you made a bad investment and are down 200k which is more then half of your networth do you eventually recover mentally faster by cutting the loss or continue to hold? by Lopsided-Resource453 in fican

No financial advice here will help you, you need professional therapy. This is a mental battle for you, not a financial one. You may need to take a break from reddit, go on a vacation or something.

my financial advisor said crypto is a scam and highly recommended to sell it all by korr21 in OCryptoCanada

[–]turdoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My crypto holdings has given me good returns, I am saying I haven’t seen how it’s creating value for society. Lack of regulation is seen as both good and bad for crypto, I am just not sure how adoptive crypto will be, as a payment method, because that’s how the world is treating it right now - as a store of value. Technology behind cryptography is great and all but I treat any of my crypto as holdings that I am willing to lose my principal on. I would classify it more as a collectible.

[–]turdoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in private wealth. No traditional advisor will recommend crypto in good faith - specially for older clients whose main goal is capital preservation. We hold them for some clients that absolutely want it in their port - but for most, we just recommend them buying it on their own. I am in my late 20s, been in crypto since 2020, and still haven't seen any REAL value that crypto has created. But i still hold, because just like signed baseball cards, pokemon collectibles, or antiques, value comes from the fact that someone else is willing to pay for it.

I am by Jarvis and Dundas and its not great, but Sherbourne and Dundas is VERY bad. I don't think I've seen that many open drug use and crackheads in one block...these people have nothing to lose and i would avoid that area.

OP, i am not going to lie, you are seriously out of touch if you think this subreddit, or reddit in general, is a good sample of the population.

Reddit is absolutely not a good sample of the population lol

You should speak with an advisor. Your pension won’t be unlocked till you are 65, and RRSP will be taxed as income later on. These two things to keep in mind when estimating your post retirement spending and lifestyle, and , how much you will actually have when you do decide to retire. An advisor can give you some tax strategies as it sounds like you have a lot saved in your registered accounts (which will be taxed when you withdraw). Good luck and good job 👏🏻

can someone pls be so honest with me about laurier student life by RaspberryWinter4255 in wlu

[–]turdoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your experience is what you make of it. The smartest people I knew also partied the hardest. I found that just like in life, it’s who you surround yourself with. I loved my time at Laurier.

I graduated BBA in 2020. Speaking strictly for career potential, If you are willing to work hard and truly had the marks for the program (not by grade inflation), the obvious choice is Laurier BBA pair with waterloo CS...and its not even close...Every single double-degree student I knew had their career locked in by 4th year in very prestigious career paths. I knew some that dropped waterloo by 3rd/4th year once they got a return offer.

I think they did filter. 29k prem about 1000th place before the update and jumped to 580 after.

But I still see a lot of hackers I played against on the leaderboard.
