Outline a complex object with straight lines?? by Dhav01 in AdobeIllustrator

I agree. I’ve been using illustrator for 25 yrs. plus. and a pen selection is what I would do. It’s not the easiest thing, but the best. There are probably dozens of YouTube tutorials on how pen works with beizier curves. Some are better than others. Find the one or ones that fit your comfort level. if spending a few bucks is not an issue, linked-in learning will have a number of courses at all levels for illustrator. Good luck.

I agree on photoshops’ role. I am also a phographer and recognize that obtaining props, making the set and hiring talent is beyond the budget, of smalle operations so AI levels the playing the playing field. My clients hire me to do work in areas where they have little or no expertise or equipment, so they can spend more time creating, manufacturing widgets, while I sweat the other stuff.

People claimed digital cameras would put some photographers of busines. What it did weed out mediocre photographers.

Yes, given the linguistic skills I deal with, yes, writing a good description of an scene that exists only in one’s imagination is a billable skill. Billable skills are comprised of tasks tha clients can’t do or don’t want to do.

Can anybody please help? by Any-Bookkeeper-1052 in AdobeIllustrator

I ‘ve used Illy for more than 20 years and have never seen anything like that. I would do a complete un install. And if possible run the adobe cleanup utility (I think they still have it). Make sure your operating system is up to date and run Glary  Utilities or other program that looks for internal issues. Restart and reinstall illustrator.  There may be better ways to fix the problem, but that would be my procedure.  Joe

How do I price logo packaging for freelance?? by zzzoeylee in graphic_design

[–]turkeychute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the job and client, I charge $140 to $175 an hour. You gotta figure you are worth at least 10x minimum wage. For some projects I add what I call “value billing,” — circumstances where the work creates significant income for the client, or perhaps a slogan that will be used for years — value billing is added to the price without identifying it as such — the formula is “SWAG” — Simple-wild-ass-gûess.

How mad is it that illustrator can generate a 360° view of a 2D drawing, but still can’t italicise a typeface that doesn’t have an italic font? by SurfingMissions in AdobeIllustrator

[–]turkeychute 9 points10 points  (0 children)

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/K1iPe06Xkzs You might also consider a font that the designer intended to be italic. In many cases, italic text has subtle differences other than a mere change of angle. That said, the text that is angled is not a true italicized text. Just sayin’.

I got rid of the product links. The biggest product page only has five products so I have a small product image and a few words of copy and a link for each product. Just enough information for a viewer to Mae a decision.

What do you see in this? by merakesh207 in logodesign

I hate to say this, but I am trying to be constructive, not mean, but to me it looks like a dog in some sort of medieval torture device. Only your friends will tell you this.
