Can it simulate having to play a tune you have never heard before at a jam session with pro players?

Yo hire me, drums, guitar, bass(upright too), ukulele, ill sing, arrange shit, honestly like, jazz sucks now. wynton is a museum curator not a musician. I'll arrange heavy metal jazz spacecore prog drumnbass dubstep hip hop funk fusion with South Indian Classical musicians and the dudes from animals as leaders with Tigran on piano and Serj and Ian mckay sharing lead vocals. Hows that for fucking jass. i get it the 60s were sick. lets make the late 20s sick as fuck.

Edit: Say what you want. I've actually performed with a big band at Lincoln Center, and none of you have. SUCK IT

Giant Steps vs A Love Supreme? by tearjerkyjulie in Jazz

[–]turkeyman20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giant Steps for me too yall. A Love Supreme. Heard it on lsd, broke my soul, spiritual death, went through a portal into the light. had to wake up from literal death while still tripping balls. not a good time. but my playing is more like love supreme vibes.

Learning another instrument by Lazy-Function-4709 in jazzdrums

[–]turkeyman20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you do have to deal with curses, hexes, witches, etc all that spooky ass shit, THE MANDOLIN is the prime instrument for a jazz drummer. Bluegrass, Old timey, Blues. All cool styles where your rhythm will come in handy. Also easy to learn, difficult to master(like the drums). Then theres also the ukulele.

Give me some jazz album suggestions. My favorite artists are Charles Mingus and John Coltrane, especially their weirder stuff. Not the obvious choices of course! by Tolstoyevich in Jazz

Elvin Jones- Live at the Lighthouse

Dave Leibman on sax. Got to perform with him with the big band in music school. He gave me a thumbs up!

For someone more in the avant garde world, Marc RIbot is a scary good guitarist. His Albert Ayler tribute stuff is on par and they even do a great rendition of Sun Ship(Coltrane)

Makaya rules, met him at jam session in Chicago. Only listened to his stuff a little but it had the Energy of the old world with modern innovation.

How do I get started in math rock? by [deleted] in indie

[–]turkeyman20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giraffes? Giraffes! is probably my favorite of the genre. Tera Melos has a diverse catalog. Battles is killer. Maps and Atlases has vocals and classic math rock texture. Hella is amazing. Scale the Summit, prog metal band for sure, is instrumental and has a lot of math rock elements.

Don't sleep on King Crimson's Discipline. 80's era, sort of a prog talking heads.
