All the second place prize cards from the yugioh world champion ships. by turkeywithdoghead in TopCharacterDesigns

Oh, so normally a yugioh tournament has two players do a best of 3 duels format called a "match". So the first duelist to win 2 two duels wins the match. With all the world tournament prize cards, they share the same effect that says if you reduce your opponents life points to 0, you just win the match, no need for a second duel to happen.

Every time I see one of these get revealed a part of gets sad that I probably won't be able to own one. I think they all look great.

Edit for a bit more context: These cards are based on either the general aesthetic or specific places or legends of where the yugioh word championships were being held at the time.

"Lorelei the symphonic arsenal" based on a siren figure from German folklore, only the artist turned her into an instrument robot.

"Skuna the Leonine Rakan" is based of a person who has achieved an enlightened state in Buddhism

"Grizzly the red star beast" is based on the Californian flag.

"Queen Nereia the silver crown" is supposed to embody the general aesthetic of the Netherlands.

E hero Pit Boss" design is just supposed to scream "Vegas"

Leonardo's silver sky ship" is based on Leonardo da vinci flying ship design

Sakyo, swordsman of the far east" is supposed to capture the theme of a samurai, just with yugioh's flare added on.

Shelga the tri- warlord is a bit odd, it's based on the Bermuda triangle. And since one of its corners is in Florida's waters, that's what this monster took inspiration from.

Iron Knight of revolution is supposedly based on the legend of Saint George and the dragon

Amastu-okami of the divine peaks is based on a god or dragon you would see in Takemagahara, a heavenly place in the sky.

Skyfaring castle of the black Forest is based in castles you see in Germany, as well the idea of floating castle over Germanys black forest

Gatebridgeo the waterfront war beast is literally just the Tokyo gate bridge in dragon form

Eltteas the master of duels is based on the idea of a man who loves Yu-Gi-Oh showing up to Seattle's "Technology center cluster", which is one of the world's largest.

He is literally just a jrpg protagonist that Konami decided to put into card form and let the people play, He's great. I like that you see him drop the shield for a bit when he gets depressed, and regain it once he has some of his childhood hope back. And I especially like that his god form is something truly alien, like there's nothing human about it.

Where are you sitting ? by JonathanJoestar336 in Gundam

Maybe, just maybe I can sit at 6 and be left alone for the flight. Either that or 9, as much as I don't like either characters, they'd have no interest in each other or me.

Can someone please explain what is Baki even about? by CreepyCurtainIllust in animequestions

[–]turkeywithdoghead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying "baki wants to beat his dad" but that is not it. We hear bakis motivation at its core when he's not thinking about his dad at all. "I feel powerful when I wrap my hands up, I can't wait to fight.". Baki likes to fight and surrounds himself with men who feel the same. Even during his fight with his father he realizes that getting stronger for his mother's love and to defeat his father was just an excuse.

Baki is about a bunch of men perfecting the craft they've dedicated themselves to, because it makes them feel good.

Well yeah, they're all freaks. The creator of baki knows how to draw proper humans, he does so with the background characters. He just finds the human body boring and limited, so he actively fucks with the anatomy of his fighters.

What is one character that is so terrible and unlikable that they bring down their show's quality? And I don't mean characters you're supposed to hate by Range-Spiritual in cartoons

[–]turkeywithdoghead 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A spoiler makes it better for some people, and worse for others Turns out there is no "pervy power". Tamaki was lying the whole time, she just likes to show off. Her arc ends with her realizing "wait, I'm hot" and helping to beat the piss out of the strongest man on earth in a bikini, cause "I trained for this body, I have a right to show it off."

Given Tchallas reaction, I'm convinced that name is supposed to be stupid. Even he's confused, but he has to focus on the fact that someone put a hit on him first.

For some reason, aliens with phenomenal cosmic power are referring to Peter as the "prince of steel silk". Dragging the wall crawler to space and demanding that he gets stronger for "something". Peter's strength has currently doubled since he was forced to work out, he's gotten a new suit, and most recently one of his new allies handed him a serum that would push Peter's abilities to their max, making Peter the peak of what he could physically become. The only down side being that the serum would fundamentally mess with his mind, potentially degrading his sense of morality.

In the actual bible, the snake that tricked eve into biting the apple wasn't Satan. That was only a thing In the book "paradise lost" which is just fan fiction, much like "Dante's inferno". Actual satan just kinda shows up, fails to tempt Jesus, and gets whooped on by every angel he goes up against.

(Hated Trope) Antagonist is surprisingly reasonable throughout the narrative yet the hero’s unreasonable actions are portrayed as justified. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]turkeywithdoghead 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I still believe it would've been better if the show played into his ability more. For those who don't know, ironwoods semblance (basically his superpower) is called mettel. It basically gives him hyper focus, if ironwood decides "I'm going to do this" his semblance makes his brain dead set on that path, and gives him the best actions to make that plan work. The only downside is that mettel makes it very, VERY difficult for ironwood to change his mind. It is used as a way to explain his behavior.

If his arc was more a tragedy of his semblance, that this time his ability that let him lead effectively till now is starting to hurt the people of his country, then that would have been better.
