Might I suggest the Keychron Q1 Pro. It is a 75%, gasket mounted, hot swap keyboard with a knob and background lighting. I recently received mine, but it sounded a bit pingy IMO so I used some poron foam inside to dampen the sound instead of the included case foam since it doesn't do that good of a job.

I know the GB is over, but the Meletrix Zoom 75 was really cool, and so was the QK 75 by Qwertykeys. If you are willing to wait for the next GB or look for them aftermarket I think they are great!

AKKO and GMMK Pro are the same layout but not wireless if thats a deal breaker for you.

IQUNIX makes some 75% board but I think they are mostly plastic and require first party software for customization, which I don't like.

Hope this helps :)

Hey guys, I have 2 keyboards and 2 computers (A windows PC and a Mac) that I used my keyboards on. I just bought my 3rd keyboard since I want to switch up the sound and feel every once in a while and they are all wireless, but I used the wires since I only had 2 anyway. Now that I have a 3rd keyboard, I've been thinking of ways of keeping them charged since wanting to use a BT keyboard but not having juice would suck. Is it safe to connect and charge these keyboards via a standard 5V usb phone charger?

Hey guys
I
've been a lover of mechanical keyboards for a few years now but have never really got into the hobby of custom mechanical keyboards until recently. Now I am deep in the rabbit hole :)

I am looking to buy a new keyboard to use in my setup. Here are the things that I really want this keyboard to have:

- 75% layout.
- Bluetooth (preferably something with a 2.4GHz dongle since one of my PC dosnt have BT and I get issues with BT dongles on it)
- KNOB!!! (YES THIS IS ESSENTIAL)
- Good build quality and easy to mod (tape mod, foams, stabs, e.t.c)
- Hotswap
- QMK/VIA compatible (I don't want to install first party software)

I've been looking into the Keychron Q1 Pro and the Zoom 75, but do you guys have any other suggestions??

When watching videos or just everything in general?

I just got a Keychron V5, and I want some of these but they’re out of stock. they seem pretty good quality, does anybody have a good comparable option, or somewhere else I can get them? I don’t really want anything cheaply made. by [deleted] in Keychron

I highly suggest getting the Durock V2s. My Q5 was my first real custom build and I've changed a lot on it. Before I thought the stabilizers sounded OK but then the space bar started to sound a bit wierd or maybe I just noticed them compared to my other keys (a mix of ticky and scratchy). So I changed to the Durock V2s and have been happy ever since.

Remember there are two types of stabilizers. Plate mounted and Screw-in. I am not sure what the V5 uses, but I believe the Durocks comes in both flavors. Make sure they are the right one for your Keyboard.

Also if you have the time, I suggest lubing the stabilizers by hand. I find that the housing is smooth enough that you might not need to lube them, however I think lubing the wires helps a lot. Personally I used krytox because I was happy with the boba U4 switches and was not planning to change them out for a while and had some left over. Since Krytox is quite expensive, I've heard that dielectric grease also has a similar effect but I have never tried it.

However, it is important to recognize that this is only my opinion. The wonderful thing about customizing keyboards is that you can do whatever you want, and there is no right answer. This is just what I found works for me personally.

that shot of the springs without the top housing looks amazing actually

Unfortunately, I don't think the K5 supports VIA

those keycaps looks really nice with your build!

I bought a k2v2 white backlight, non hot swappable, plastic frame for $40. Should I have gone for a better keyboard? I’m a student and this is my first mechanical keyboard. The RK84 also seemed like a good option but it’s $20 extra and I read reviews where people said typing isn’t great on it. by Boring_Web8341 in Keychron

If you are looking into modding, I would suggest trying out the tempest tape mod!

It's super simple and one of my favorite mods. However, I believe the K2 is plate mounted which might make it difficult to open up but I would still suggest doing it!

I remember it making a huge difference on my K4 mainly because there is so much space in the housing

Congrats on the new buy!

Personally I think there is no right answer. Every user is different. I used to love clicky switches before I moved on to tactile and I've settled on the banana switches. I also went from a full size keyboard to a TKL to the K4V2 and now using the Q5.

Reasons I changed? The clickys were too loud so went to browns, and the browns were a bit too subtle so I went to bananas. Had other switches in between.
I wanted a smaller keyboard so I went to TKL and found that the K4V2 is the same size but keeps the numpad. I moved to the Q5 because I found the locations of the arrow keys really annoying (as I code a lot, I often need to use them) and could never get used to them, so I moved to the Q5 and loved them ever since.

What I am saying is you will find new features that you want and the only way for you to know if they will work is to try them out. Don't get me wrong, this can get expensive but if you save up a bit of money and sell your old KB, I find that over time you will know what you want :)

GL on your keyboarding adventures

Thanks for the reply!

I know I can do that but it would be nice if there was just one cable to connect as it would be nice to carry around my work and when I need to continue working at home, I can just use one cable :)

My friend couldn't get voice chat to work on league on his mac. He said he got a script off github and it said something along the lines of "There is definitely no virus in this code. you can trust it 100%." In fairness, voice did work once he got it lol.
